I found out late January I was expecting our first baby. Hubby and I decided on December 29 2009, our second wedding anniversary this was our year to try for a baby.
Everything was going perfectly, we had an early scan for viability which showed us a beautiful blob with a little heart flicker of 169bpm. This was around 8 weeks, Up until I had no issues, a little nausea and that was about all.
9 weeks I had spotting which freaked me out, then again at 10 and a half weeks and 11 and a half weeks, just minor with a few spots and my doctor didn't seem concerned, no ultrasounds, no examinations.
Thursday 18th March I woke up with period like bleeding and freaked. This is what I posted on my birth board:
I woke up this morning at 7:30am and realised I was running late, so went to get ready. I went to the toilet and immediately started crying because I had period like bleeding. I got an after hours appointment with my GP ($150 later) who referred me on to the hospital with threatened miscarriage. Got to hospital in ED and they took obs, gave me a warmed blanket and set about organising a scan for me. They then found all the hospital ultrasound staff were not in that day, so sent me to the private clinic (another $150 later) for a scan. They found bub straight away kicking it's little legs about, heart flickering away with a good heart beat of 162 bpm, and doing a flip for Mummy and Daddy (little show off) and waving it's arms about. So baby is perfectly fine and measuring a week ahead of the EDD my initial scan gave me, about 12 wks 5 days. Still no idea why I had such heavy bleeding, the hospital ED was super busy so sent me off and I have another doctors appointment tonight.
The doctor wasn't too willing to do an exam in case it started the bleeding again and I go back Wednesday for a full examination.
I got up to go to the toilet about half past 12 last night and guess what was happening, thats right more period like bleeding. We didn't rush straight to ED, I popped on a pad and tried to sleep. Nothing on the pad this morning and the bleeding seems to have stopped, just the last bit left. This baby is certainly trying to drive Mummy insane.
My Mum always said to me when we fought in my teens "I hope when you have kids you have one just like you" well that seems to be coming true. Mum spotted all through her pregnancy with me.
