Two days ago I did Baby Boy's laundry. It was so much fun!! I know that sounds weird, but as I was putting in those little onesies and pants, I got this ridiculous happy rush in my tummy like I was on a roller coaster. I just kept thinking, "My SON is going to be wearing these soon! He's this little person who has his own clothes!" I just cannot wait to see what he's like - who he really is, what his personality's like, what he looks like when he yawns or smiles or dreams. Only 6 more weeks to go!! Eeee!!!!
In other not-so-glamorous pregnancy news, my stretch marks really ITCH!! I have quite a few under my belly button area, and they get really red sometimes. I have this coupon for this cream called Mederma which apparently works really well to fade stretch marks. I don't know if that's true, but I think I'll try it. I don't care about my stretch marks as much as I thought I would before I got pregnant, though. I mean, I think they're icky looking and I'd rather they weren't there but they don't really bother me. That's a big deal for me because I had all kinds of body image problems growing up! I think a major part of that is DH - he thinks my body is absolutely beautiful, and doesn't hesitate to tell me so. That really helps.
So, without further ado...
34 WEEK PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aaah, major acid reflux going on right now. I'm drinking some warm milk and honey, let's hope that helps. It usually does. I thought about waking up poor DH to make me some but then decided to let him sleep. He works hard enough as it is!
Well, as long as I'm up, I might as well update my journal! Firstly, I want to say to my dear friend Brooke (sweetsun) - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a MOMMY!!!!!! For those who don't know, she and her husband had been chosen by a birthmom to adopt a baby boy, and yesterday they got to bring him home!!!! Brooke hasn't been online yet to update everyone, so I don't want to give too much away, but OMG!! I am sooooo happy and excited for her!!
Now onto the more mundane stuff... on Thursday, our doula came over to talk with us about labor stuff. We loosely followed the Bradley class on positions to labor and deliver in, and I got to try a bunch of them out. At first I was really self conscious, especially doing the "classic" one where I had to lay on my back and spread my legs, but I'm glad we tried them out. It helped me feel more comfortable with her in the end. She also showed me an easy way to squat using a door knob, which was really cool! We got to see this cool video about epidurals too. The information was presented in a very neutral way, not leaning either way, so it was nice to hear about everything that goes along with an epidural without feeling like there was an "agenda" behind it. I am really committed to having a natural birth, but I know that this is my first time and I have NO idea what to expect. If my labor goes on forever or the pain is too much for too long, I am open to the idea of an epidural to help me out. I'm definitely not a "natural snob". Mostly we just talked to her and got to know each other better. I'm really glad we did that because we were all three much more comfortable with each other by the end of the 2 hours.
And yesterday, I went and got my pregnancy massage that DH had got me for our anniversary! And what really surprised me was that I came away with this thought - "I really much prefer DH's massages!" It's not that the lady I had wasn't good. She even gave me an extra half hour (an hour and 15 minutes instead of 45 minutes), but I just wasn't as comfortable as when DH massages me. I think it's because I don't generally enjoy other people touching me. Skin-on-skin contact with other people just isn't my thing; I don't even like quick hugs. But it was a cool experience, and I'm glad I did it! It's good to know that if I do get pregnant again, I can save some money by not getting one of these again! I liked the whole ambience of the place too, all dimly lit and "aromatherapied". And you know, this massage therapist was the second person to tell me that the baby looks like he's riding low. I guess my little guy is really making his preparation to be brought into this world! I am so excited!
Yesterday we also got a HUGE package from my ILs! They sent us pretty much every single thing on our registry! We didn't have any big things left except for our swing/bouncy seat thing that we were going to buy next month (since they already bought us our car seat). So they bought that, all the crib sheets and pack 'n' play sheets I had on there, some cute baby hats, toys and gosh, I can't even think what else! Oh! 2 big boxes of Pampers Swaddlers (216 count!)! We just couldn't believe it! We're going to call them today to thank them, and also to tell them off! They spoil us too much - we already told them we didn't need them to buy us all that stuff. We just want them to save their money and come out here to spend time with us after the baby is born. But I guess they're just too excited about being grandparents. I am so thankful that they did that, it really shows that they care so much. But I also feel bad for them because I know they've already spent so much money on the baby!
That is too funny about the whole massage! Tim must be good if you would rather have him do it! Lucky girl! I agree about the ambiance of these places...you just can't help but feel relaxed! Your word "aromatherapied" describes it perfectly!
Your in-laws are darlings. How sweet of them - they also must have enjoyed buying stuff for their grandson. Are you all ready now? Any nursery pics? Oh pleeeeeeease!
Hi ladies! Ah yes, pictures!! I will take them today or tomorrow... the nursery is all done ( ) with the exception of one piece of furniture that I have to get DH to move to a different spot. I'm excited to show you what it looks like in there!
