Miracle on 23rd Street..

6w6d Well, I don't want to completely celebrate too early, but the fact that I'm even gonna say this is amazing.........I am pregnant. I have PCOS and my husband has varicocele. We have been TTC for almost eight years. Dr after dr have told us there's NO chance. In-vitro was our only option. I just decided to move on and that God would give us a baby if it was His will. I never even dreamed it would happen.

So now we're excited as can be. I found out about two weeks ago! Three positive HPTs and one positive blood test. I haven't had any m/s yet, although I do get nauseated. I have trouble with smells...especially broccoli. The worst symptom so far has been my boobs. They are soooo sore. Sharp shooting pains straight through the nipple....yikes! I also just feel really tired, especially in the afternoon.

My husband is the Air Force, so I had to go to an Air Force OB orientation last week to learn about insurance, etc. I have my first appt with the dr on May 30. He won't see me until I'm 12 weeks. It seems so darn far away. I just would really feel much better to hear a heartbeat. I'm just gonna trust that God will protect this little life since He created this miracle.

Thank you, Lord, for blessing us, and please keep little bean safe......

Well, I haven't written on here since I first found out because I wanted to wait until my first dr appt. In the past few weeks I've been nauseated every day pretty much, but I've only thrown up about four times or so. I feel pretty lucky in that area. The boobs are still killing me. Real tired in the afternoons.

Anyway, yesterday I met my doctor, Dr. Fischbach. In California I had the same dr for more than ten years, so I was nervous to meet a new dr that would be getting so darn personal with me. Before the appt I threw up my whole lunch. I had heard rumors that the dr was kind of gruff. Well, he was anything but that with us. We told him our story of infertility. He was so darn kind. He was as excited as us. He measured my uterus and said I was measuring at the 11 week mark. He said he doesn't do an ultrasound until 20 weeks. I was kind of bummed because I really wanted to see the baby.

Well, the nurse brought the doppler out and listened and listened for at least ten minutes. We couldn't hear anything. She said it was because the baby was still really low in my pelvis. I thought it was because I'm overweight. But anyway, we finally heard a heartbeat, but it was mine. I was laying there so scared and worried that something was wrong. After a bit more trying, then we heard the heartbeat. It was really strong and fast. 172 bpm. Girl maybe? hee hee. James gets mad at me for saying that. He says I shouldn't believe in old wives tales. We'll see. I just have the girl feeling for some reason.

So we are overjoyed and so amazingly happy. We have a baby with a heartbeat! I already love it so much. It's amazing. I woke up this morning really wanting to take care of myself, my body, the baby. I think yesterday really made it real. My weight yesterday was 202.2. I'm definitely up at least ten pounds or more from before I knew I was pregnant. So I need to really start being healthy.

Well, that's all for now. I'm headed to lower body resistance bands. Feeling pretty good this morning. I have some stretching feeling on the right side a lot the past two days......

Week 11, Day 3

It's a rainy Friday. I had a deposition this morning. I'm feeling a lot of stretching sort of feeling on my right side mostly. I'm wondering if it might be from the exercise (kickboxing). I don't know.

I'm pretty tired today. I went to the base and got the prescription prenatal vitamins. I've been taking the Target brand until now. I should compare them. I'm sure they're similar. We'll see.

I registered online at Target yesterday because my friends are going to have a shower for me in July in California. It was pretty fun. I'm pretty much going neutral since we don't know what we're having. It's just so fun to think about....I've been thinking a lot about how it will be when I meet the baby at the hospital! How fun!

11 weeks, 4 days. Here's a pic I took today. I can't figure out how to make it smaller. My tummy is rounder than normal, but I was already overweight when I got pregnant.

Feeling ok today. Just been tired lately......[/img]

I am so sick this morning for some reason. I threw up everything I had for breakfast plus anything left from last night. I've only thrown up a couple times since I got pregnant, but it's definitely been happening more often lately. I guess my m/s is coming on late, huh?! I'm about 12 weeks. Shouldn't it be starting to ease up instead of just starting??

I've been eating too much. This weekend we ate waaaayyy too much. I was 203 this morning. That's up officially 10 pounds. Of course half of it is probably water weight from this weekend....too much salt. I really need to watch it, though, because most people I talk to haven't even gained weight at 12 weeks. Leave it to me to gain weight during the first trimester.

I've been changing stuff on the Target registry every day. I change my mind so much. It's tough to make those type of decisions. Good thing my shower's not until July. My friends here in Minot are gonna have one for me in November. Hopefully then I'll know the sex and be able to get more girl or boy things. It is sort of silly to have a shower at 18 weeks pregnant, but it's the only time I'll be home to California. I miss my friends there. I can't wait to see them...........

Week 12...

Week 12, Day 3:
Well, what a day today was. Holy moly! I got up really early for depositions at the reservation, and I couldn't stop throwing up. It was bile, of course, because I hadn't eaten.

My boobs are itching like crazy. They're really dry and peeling. Strange?! Maybe it's cuz they're growing so fast.

I also have been having a bit of pain in my left hip. It feels like arthritis pain. Strange..........

Well, this weekend is James's 32nd birthday! Old man...hee hee. I'm taking him camping. I hope he likes it.

Well, here I am at 13 weeks now. I'm feeling ok. I do think I have a urinary tract infection, though. It started this weekend when we were camping. I have to pee five minutes after I just went. And it feels like I'm gonna pee my pants. I get there and nothing comes out. It's just been getting worse since the weekend now.

I'm feeling good, though. My weight this morning was 202. I am up about 9 pounds from my start weight. So I've gained more than I should have. I'm working on keeping the weight down. I can already see some changes in my pics. I can't believe my stomach is changing so much. Neat.

Well, it wasn't a UTI. I had a cath UA, and it was negative. They say it's just my uterus pressing on my bladder probably. I just go so often. It's ridiculous. I get up one to four times a night and probably go another twenty times or more during the day. Wow.

Feeling pretty good. Haven't thrown up the last couple days. I am starting to feel bigger. My stomach is really rounding out. I am most definitely gonna need some maternity clothes soon. My work clothes are tight. My regular clothes are tight. I was planning to buy some in Cali when I visit, but that's another three weeks away. So we'll see if I can hold out until then.......

Been trying to eat more veggies. Up another pound this morning (203), but we had chinese food last night, so I'm sure the salt didn't help.

My next dr's appt is in a week and a half. Probably get to hear the heartbeat again! Yeah!!!

I feel like I have grown a lot this week for some reason. I'm finally in the second trimester now. So my morning sickness is better. I get a little nauseated still, but I haven't thrown up.
I got a bunch of maternity clothes last week. I'm probably gonna have to start wearing them in the next few weeks.
We're headed to Hawaii in three weeks. That should be fun! Glad I got some new clothes to wear!

Here's another pic:

I didn't take a pic this week, but I'll take one sometime next week! But we did have our second dr. appt last week. The heartrate was 168 - so still nice and fast (girl??). Who knows? I was measuring a week ahead, but I've heard that changes a lot and doesn't mean much. The dr was just so kind. He took a lot of time with us and answered our questions.
I asked him if it was ok to fly to Hawaii, and he said only if the OB goes with!
So we're headed off to California in a little less than two weeks. They are having the baby shower for me there, and then we are going to Hawaii on the 17th for 8 days. I'm really excited. I wish I knew what the sex was because I want to buy an outfit in Hawaii. So I guess I might just buy a t-shirt. That would work for a boy or girl!
Feeling pretty good. Definitely growing.....

I really need to update with a pic, huh?!
Well, we just got back from Hawaii and California. We've been gone a couple weeks. That's why I've been MIA.
The big news is that I got an ultrasound while I was in California, and we're having a boy!! I was completely shocked. I don't know why I've just assumed it would be a girl.
But he was so cute. He had his hands up in the praying position and kept swatting at the ultrasound probe. I can't believe how much he looks like a real baby in there. I don't know what I expected.
We're overjoyed.
Now for the name..................

I had the big ultrasound here in Minot yesterday. At my dr's appt on Monday I was measuring 24 weeks, and by my dates I was only 19 weeks 5 days. So I had the ultrasound, and the baby looked great. He was measuring 21 weeks, 1 day. So I'm a week farther along than the dates, I guess. Not sure about the other three weeks. The dr said it could be because I'm short and a little fluffier than some women. He was nice about it.

James was not able to go to the ultrasound because of a base exercise he's involved in for the next week. I was bummed for him because I got to see so many little movements he didn't get to see. They did print four pics for us. I'll have to figure out how to scan them in. But the baby was opening and closing his mouth and sucking his thumb and just moving a lot. The weird thing is that I couldn't feel it, even though I saw him moving on the screen.

I am feeling movement every day, but it's not strong. Just little flutters....

We got the crib and I also ordered the pack n play and the furniture and the travel system. Can't wait to get all that cool stuff. This is fun.

I haven't been taking and/or posting any pics. I've been really lame about taking belly pics for the past couple months.
Anyway, we've finally picked a name. Tobias James! James and I both agree on it, so we'll stop there!
I'm feeling good. My hips are killing me, but that's the way it is.
He's moving around a lot more and kicking more now. It's so fun. Having a blast. Can't wait to meet him.

Well, my weight has gone crazy. I was 219 this morning. Yikes. The dr is probably gonna say something on Monday. I need to get it together. The thing is that I have been exercising every day. I must be eating horribly. I know that glucose test is in the next month or two. I don't want to fail it....

Tobias has been moving. James finally felt it last night. He was talking to him and then he put his ear to my belly and felt some movement on his ear. I am just so blessed to have such a supportive husband. James has been so excited. He's reading the Expectant Father and he talks to the baby every day. He is in love. It's awesome. Right now James is working on the baby's room. He sanded and primered. He's gonna start painting this weekend. We're doing blue and beige with a chair rail in between. I think it's gonna look great.

Not much else to report. My next dr's appt is on Monday (less than a week).

I had my dr's appt today. I was up 9 pounds this month! Yikes. The dr was nice about it. He just said I need to keep my eye on it.......meaning stop eating so darn much. hee hee. My blood pressure was good. The heartrate was 145. He read me the ultrasound report. Everything is completely normal. I measured right on this time. Last month I measured 24 weeks at my 20 week appt. Today I measured 24.5 at my 24 week appt. So that's great.

Tobias is moving lots now. Everything's going well. I just need to eat a little less cookies and ice cream. My glucose test is next month - Sept 25.

I think I'm a week away from the third trimester now, huh?! I took a pic last week with my cell phone, but i don't know how to get that pic on here now. My tummy's definitely round. My butt and everything else is growing too, unfortunately.

I fell down the stairs yesterday. I only cleared two stairs, but I caught air and landed flat on my butt. Tobias is fine. He's moving like nothing happened. But I am REALLY sore today. I have a little limp because my hip's really bothering me.

I'm hoping we can get moving with the baby's room. James did paint it, but we still need to put the border, and I want to get the closet organized. I think we need some sort of shelving system or something to fit everything. We also have all our furniture, but we need to put it together. I guess we still have time, huh?! I just don't want to leave it to the end. James has been working a lot, though, and so have I.

I'm having lots of round ligament pain. I think it's because i started my volleyball season last night. We played a double header. I think it's just a lot of pressure on my ligaments...jumping a bit and running around, etc.

I had my glucose test this morning. It wasn't that bad. It was orange flavor, and it didn't taste too bad. The only thing is that it was VERY carbonated. So it was kind of tough to drink so fast (within 5 minutes). I felt a little bloated after and like I needed to burp.

A couple hours later I had my dr's appt. He said that I passed the test! My glucose was 109 and passing is under 140! His heartrate was pretty high today...160. The dr said he's really active and sounds great. He was probably really dancing from all the sugar this morning, huh?! My uterus measured 27 weeks today, even though I'm about 29. But I guess it goes up and down each month. So it will all even out at the end.

We talked to the dr about circumcision, and we are planning to do the old testament ritual of circumcising on the 8th day. DH really wants that. I don't care either way....either way I don't want to be in the room hearing my poor boy screaming. I'm totally fine with the circumcision. I just don't think I'll wanna be there.

I'm feeling good. I do have a pretty bad cold right now. I'm also having quite a lot of round ligament pain, but that's normal. My tummy's growing. Things are stretching. My weight was up another 6 pounds about. But I had just eaten breakfast after the glucose test, so we'll say it's really only 4 or 5....hee hee. I'm working on it.

I'm really enjoying my time with him right now. I can't wait to meet him...

I had my baby shower yesterday, and here's a pic! The girls from kickboxing class all pitched in and bought me a jogging stroller. So I have no excuse to not start my running program again. I know I'll have to start with walking.

Anyway, things are going well. Dr appt last week was good. I go in another two weeks. I'm up around 30 pounds now. But my blood pressure's good and I'm feeling good. The hemorrhoids are beyond horrible. That's probably my only real big complaint. My hips ache too. But I'm surprised I feel pretty good with only six weeks to go.....

Well, I have had a relatively painless pregnancy....until now. The hemorrhoids.... they are deadly. Holy moly. I am gonna have to call the dr today because I've been treating them for two weeks, and they are only larger now. It's tough to walk. Babywise, I'm doing great. My uterus feels good. Everything feels great.....except the rear. I've taken at least two baths a day with epsom salt, practically taken out stock in preparation H and tucks. I dunno. I hope the dr has a solution.

Baby boy was kicking like crazy yesterday....he was up all day kicking. He is probably exhausted. I bet he'll sleep all day today. I am so glad to know that he's strong.

Five weeks to go....

Well, I had a dr's appt today. I actually saw the midwife because the dr got called for an emergency surgery. She couldn't find the heartbeat at first. She ended up finding it all the way up right under my sternum. So she did an ultrasound because she thought he might be breech. It turns out that he is not breech. It's just his positioning. He's in a horseshoe shape with his head down on my lower right side, his butt and chest up near my boobs and his feet on the lower left. No wonder I cannot breathe very well. His butt is cutting off my air.
Anyway, I feel bad that James wasn't able to make this appt. This is the third u/s he has missed, darn it! I haven't even told him yet. He's gonna be bummed. Everything else went well. I had my strep swab test. My next appt is next week.
I'm just trying to get all my work done so I'll be ready...........

Well, what a weekend I had. It was horrible. My hard drive on my work computer crashed and I watched my friend's dog who had diarrhea all over the place and he howled at night and kept us up all night. Stress...... not good for the baby.

I had my dr appt yesterday. I've been having headaches for a couple days and my blood pressure was up a bit (140/80). So he took some blood to make sure everything was ok. The blood was normal, so he thinks it's the stress of my work and computer and everything. So I'm trying to relax. I had my last deposition on Monday. Now I'm just trying to transcribe everything and then I'll be ready.

My next appt is Monday. He'll do a vaginal check then. We'll see what happens. Baby is moving lots. He seems to be doing great. I think his head is definitely dropping because I feel pressure and have to pee even more now!

birth story

The short story is that Monday afternoon I had my dr's appt and
my blood pressure was through the roof. It has been fine this
whole time, but it was horrible on Monday. So they called me
pre-eclamptic. So he sent me straight to the hospital from the
office. They observed me all night and my blood pressure. It
continued to stay really high. So they gave me yucky medicine
to lower it. Tuesday morning the dr broke my water and we
waited to see if nature would take its course. He gave me an
epidural before he broke my water. That was at 9:00 am. By
6:00 pm I was only at 5cm. I didn't feel any pain at that
point with the epidural and all. But then he decided to shoot
me up with pitocin to get me going. My uterus was not
cooperating, so he upped the pitocin every 15 minutes. At 9:00
my contractions got horrible and my epidural wore off in the
nether regions. I was having labor straight up my butt and
pubic bone. It was not fun at all. So I just tried to breathe
through them......worst pain I've ever felt.
I had one hour of really hard labor and then pushed 3 times and
he popped out. He was really little, thank goodness, because I
tore inside a bit and had to be sewn up.
So that's the gist of it. Such a bummer that the epidural wore
off. It was REALLY painful, but it was only an hour for the
light of our life!!!!

Christmas Day

Tobias (one month old) with mom

Tobias (one month old) with dad

Christmas Day was lots of fun. Tobias got a school bus with little people from grandma Robin. We went to the base to have dinner at the Reeds'. That's where the pics were taken. We can't wait until next year when he's one and he's able to enjoy presents, etc. We're planning to spend next Christmas home in California!
