14w and 2d today. At times my pregnancy seems to fly by and at other times I cannot believe I still have 6 months to go! I decided to start this journal because I was hoping it would help for me to be able to and look back at how far I've come.
In mid December I took a HPT test because I was 2 days late- and I'm never late. There was a line. A faint line but a line. I'd taken so many negative tests that I couldn't believe it. I started shaking- I actually had to sit down. We were definately not trying but my b/c script had run out the month before and seeing as we were new to the state I didn't have a dr here (the script should have been good until Jan- when my appt was, but the pharmacy messed it all up). So we decided to use condoms in the mean time- and well obviously we found out those really aren't 100% protective .
Anyway, I called DH- the poor man was at my parents' home fixing their dryer and of course really couldn't say anything in response w/o telling my parents the news. I probably should have waited to tell him- but I was just so shocked!! His response: "well, are you going to come pick me up now?". I had to laugh.
So we then waited very anxiously for our first appointment. DH came with me- but when he saw that there were really no other men in the waiting room he decided to wait in the car .
I had an ultrasound- but at 8.5 weeks I could only see a little white "blob" on the screen.
At 11.5 weeks I went in for another ultrasound for the first trimester screen. This was the best experience of my life. My baby was jumping all over the place. The tech was laught because she wasn't sure she could get any measurements. My baby was 2 inches long :).
At 13 weeks I had my 2nd appt and finally got to hear baby's heartbeat- a very beautiful sound, but the baby was moving around a lot so I didn't get to hear it for long.
And today is 14.2 weeks. I still haven't felt baby but I have had to switch to mostly maternity jeans (but I can still wear my regular shirts!). On March 16 I get to find out if I am having a boy or a girl!!
The name we have for a girl is Elizabeth "Lilly" Sadie- Elizabeth is a family name on both sides, I love the name Lilly but I don't know that my daughter would want to be called Lilly when she is an adult- so this gives her options, and Sadie is my great-grandmothers name.
For a boy Andrew Ryan (but we aren't sure about this one)
