I'm baaackkkk!!!! :D :D :D :D Sorry ladies, I am a miserable poster and you have every right to bash me!! I have just been SO exhausted with being pregnant with a baby to take care of at the same time! I am also rushing to finish my degree (YEAH!!), so that has been eating up my time as well. I've really missed you all!! I have been terrible about getting on the internet, but I am back now - at least until New Baby gets here and runs me ragged. ;)
So, if you'll remember, before I left, I had said that New Baby's gender would be a complete surprise until the birth. Well, about 2 days ago, we CAVED. I couldn't stand not being prepared enough, so we went and got a private ultrasound! And can I just say how glad I am that we did???? Because it's a...
GIRL!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
DH has been saying from the beginning that it's a girl, but I have really been thinking boy. That's part of the reason we wanted to know, because if it was a girl, we had no 0-3/3-6 month things we could use! Almost all of Nick's clothes were presents, and so they're blue. Not to mention, most of it is weather inappropriate now that we've moved!
We're ecstatic!! :D She is just the sweetest little thing! At her ultrasound, she was constantly playing with her feet. She also gave us a great shot of her chubby little face (a great thing about getting an ultrasound at 33 weeks is all the baby fat!), and DH thinks she looks exactly like me! In fact, at our 20-week ultrasound, which we did at 28 weeks, he had said, "If that's a boy, he has a really girly face!" We didn't find out at that ultrasound, though, so we didn't know for sure. Anyway, I am just soooo excited to be blessed enough to have one of each!!!! :D :D :D :D We're going shopping soon!! :D The great thing is we have a LOT of 6-12 month stuff that she can use from when we were adopting. But it's all summer dresses, so we definitely need smaller, warmer girly stuff. No names yet! DH and I are having the same issue we did with Nick - we just cannot agree on anything! However, we do like a lot more girls' names than we did boys', so it's nice in that way. :D
So far we haven't told anyone IRL that we know the sex! Everyone still thinks it's a complete surprise. My MIL is desperately wishing for a girl, so I kinda want to tell her, but I'm also having a lot of fun keeping it a secret between just DH and me! :D
Thanks for reading, and I promise to be better about posting!! :D
Oh you are going to have to go on a pink shopping spree Sandy!! The whole new section of BRU is yours!!! That's the fun of having both sexes- more choices.
How are you feeling now? Is it going well?
Hey Asha girl! :D
I know, I've already started shopping!! :D I am doing really well, thank you for asking. For a while, we were worried about pre-term labor, but not anymore. We had a fetal fibronactin test done, and they checked my cervix at 32 weeks, and it was long and closed! The test came back negative as well. :D Just three more weeks to go till full-term; baby girl needs to sit tight!
What is up with my avatar?? It keeps disappearing!
Anyway, yesterday DH, Nick and I went shopping for New Baby! :D We went to BRU and got some essentials, but also some really cute stuff. :D We got two new pink swaddlers, two footed sleepers (DH picked one and I picked one), a pack of socks and a really, really cute onesie with flutter sleeves. I didn't want to go overboard, since I want to hit the outlet stores soon! :D This morning I bought another pack of socks (can you ever have too many socks with a newborn?), a cute microfleece hat and a blanket from the Old Navy sale (BFF at checkout for 20% off and free shipping!). So right now I think she's pretty much covered on essentials! We wanted to get her mittens, but all they had were yellow ones, and DH was adamant for some reason that we should get her pink ones. So we haven't done that yet. Ooh, here's what I'm thinking of using as her homecoming outfit (it's from the Gymboree sale - I LOVE all the sales going on right now!!):
I know, we're experiencing a major pink overload at our house right now, but it's just so much fun!! :D :D I love it. Today I'm going to wash all her clothes so that she has clean stuff even if she plans to come early and surprise us all. I am also super excited because I had made this no-sew fleece blanket when we were adopting, and since it was pink, I couldn't use it for Nick. :( But now I can pull it out and use it for New Baby!! :D
Oh Sandy I'm SO EXCITED for you!!! That outfit is adorable! I was at their website this morning looking at all those cute clothes for sale, it's torture LOL
It's so great to hear from you & to hear that your all doing well!! ♥♥♥
LOVE The clothes and I am so glad you are back!
OMG! That outfit is so cute! I love the monkey- just adorable!
BTW, there is no such thing as pink overload when you are talking about a baby girl....it becomes a problem when she is over 30 and wearing all pink, so....you have lots of time! ;)
So no names yet, huh?
No names yet!! Although we have a list of names we like, so we're trying to narrow it down. :D And I like your thoughts about no such thing as pink overload until the age of 30, Asha! I think I'll stick with that line of reasoning!! :D
CHIMS!! I've PM'd you - I almost didn't recognize you with the new username! :D How have you been????
Hey Lissy girl! Your profile pic almost sent me into labor - that is some scary @$$ stuff!
It's 5 AM and I have been up since 4! I think it's because I'm excited and anxious. I am pretty sure I lost part of my mucus plug last night. The day before that, I was having these contractions that were so strong, they made me stop in my tracks. And then yesterday, I went on a walk and had some regular contractions after. I told DH I thought my cervix is effacing, and I guess I was right! I am pretty sure New Baby is not going to make her due date! Since Nick came at 38 weeks and 6 days, I am thinking New Baby is going to make an appearance between 37 and 38 weeks, too. :D I am so excited!! But also really nervous, because there is so much we still need to do! We need to repack the hospital bag, and most of all, we need to get our house clean! I want DH to vacuum and steam all the rooms, and deep clean all the bathrooms and the kitchen. I know, how can I possibly ask him to do all that stuff? If I wasn't in so much pain, I'd do it myself. This pregnancy has been way more painful than Nick's - I'm not sure if it's because I'm so much more active with carrying Nick, walking and doing house work or if it's because it's my second and so close to my first. My whole body hurts all the time, especially my crotch/pelvis and back! My stomach gets this weird "pulled muscle" feeling a lot, too. That might be RLP, but I've never experienced it before, so I'm not sure. Anyway, I go through little bouts of nesting when I do things like mop the kitchen floor and clean the washer and dryer, but I haven't nearly touched enough stuff! I want this place to be sparkling before she gets here. I'm thinking about hiring a cleaning service specifically for this purpose. DH is vehemently against anyone else cleaning our house for us usually, but I wonder if he'll cave. He's been so awesome about going to work late and coming home early so he can help me take care of Nick, and I know he's exhausted. The poor man, he does so much and he barely ever complains!
Oh, before I forget - I've gotten a couple of messages asking me what the difference was between Nick's pregnancy and this pregnancy, since they are opposite-sex pregnancies. There have been a lot of differences! I figured I'd list them here for any preggo mamas who might want to analyze their baby's gender! :D
- Craved meat and potatoes
- Disliked carrots or veggies, for the most part
- Carried really high and really round
- Leg hair grew reallllly fast
- Very sick up until 11 weeks
- Baby was extremely fiesty - he'd kick all the time!
- Minimal cervical discharge
- Heartbeat consistently in the 140s
New Baby's pregnancy:
- Craved sausage and pasta, lots and lots of fruits and veggies
- Craved orange juice
- No change in leg hair growth
- Carrying really low all through pregnancy, tummy not as round
- No morning sickness, except for occasional nausea here and there that has persisted into the third trimester
- Baby is extremely active, but rather than kicking out at me, she seems to be just rolling around in there!
- Lots and lots of cervical discharge right from the beginning.
- Heartbeat consistently in the 150s and 160s
A lot of the old wives' tales were true for me, as you can see! I think it's interesting how that worked out. :D
I am so excited! I think I have finally found the baby nursery set that I want! DH likes it, too, which is really great. :D Our tastes don't always match, and so we usually have to look for a long time before we find something we can both agree on. It's the Aspen crib from Storkcraft, and we're getting the dresser/changer too:
We won't be getting it right away since New Baby will co-sleep with us for the first 3 or 4 months like Nick did. I really like the idea of doing dark furniture with delicate bedding for a girl! :D Nick's room is white, chocolate brown and blue, and her room will be espresso, light pink and ivory.
I have been feeling especially nesty lately. I sorted through all of her clothes (she is set for the first 3 months of life, thanks to big brother Nick's neutral clothes - I had no idea he had so many!) and hung them all up, including swaddlers, blankets, hats and other accessories. DH and I also got her room cleaned up. Tomorrow I want to get our bedroom cleaned since she'll be spending her nights in there with us. DH started working on the master bathroom tonight, too. I can't wait to get this house clean!!
