Wow- i have officially started to feel like crap! Lol! This morning I woke up and could hardly breathe. Little man is in a position today that is incredibly uncomfortable. All the movement I am feeling is above my belly button to right below my ribs. Several times I have gotten very sharp pain in my ribs- and unless I sit straight up I am very uncomfortable today. I also have heartburn today which isn't helping this feeling.
Clyde went yesterday and came home with a recliner/glider. Yes that means we now have two. We have already purchased a really nice recliner/swivel chair for the downstairs. Well Clyde went to Big Lots and found another one for 130 dollars. He decided to buy it for the nursery, which actually is great. I was planning on putting my rocking chair (family handme down) in there but then I realized it is getting too small for my big butt. So this will be perfect. It is a tan color so it will fit in there nicely. We are leaving it in the living room, so I have somewhere comfy to sit, until we go pick up the other recliner (2-3 weeks).
Other than the not being able to breathe today I am doing ok. I am starting to wear down so easily, have actually started taking naps each afternoon. And have become incredibly lazy these past few weeks.
I think I have decided on a name. I have started to call the baby by this name, and every time I say it to Clyde he smiles. So I think he is happy with it also. Now we just need to decide on a middle name.
We had such a very busy weekend. Clyde and I had our childbirth education class. It was long but very helpful. On Saturday it was more a review in that we learned about what to expect during a vaginal delivery. We also practiced breathing and relaxation technigues. Sunday was the most imformative for me. We went over c sections, newborn care and postpartum stuff. They told us what all to pack in your hospital bag, and what we will need to take care of our little boy. We ended the day with a tour of the hospital. The LDR's are so nice, and even the postpartum room is a nice room to stay in.
We also have picked up most of our furniture. Clyde surprised me and went last Thursday and Friday and picked up our crib, dresser, and nightstand. He put the crib together on Saturday and over the past four days i have been working in the nursery. He is planning on picking up our recliner (yay it is in!) and our hutch this week. Once the hutch is up I plan on washing the clothes that I already have and will organize the drawers.
I have been feeling great the past two days. I have had more energy during the day- which for me is a huge step. I dont know if this is what they call nesting, but I am definitely getting a lot of things done in my house. I also have a shower next weekend here in TN, and my mom will be coming to visit so I am trying to get this house nice and clean.
We are still trying to see if Clyde will get this weekend off so he can go to Alabama with me for our family shower. He was planning on going down w/ me and spending time w/ his brother, father, and bestfriend. A few weeks ago he was told that they were going to have to work this weekend. He tried to talk to his boss yesterday about seeing if he could work Saturday but have Sunday off (day of the shower) and his boss told him they would talk about it today. So hopefully when he comes home tonight he will have good news.
He is also getting sick, which is hopefully not going to make its way to me. Clyde never complains, but last night he was so pitiful. He slept on the couch from when he got home from work till around 9 pm when I made him go to bed. I hope he gets to feeling better soon.
This is going to be a long post- so bear w/ me. We had our first shower this past weekend. This was the shower in Alabama and was thrown by my new sil. We invited a total of 25 people, and about 15 people showed up. It was a good day. We got there early so Clyde, his brothers and dad could go meet a friend for lunch. The shower began at 3 pm, and at first we just ate food. We sat around and talked and then we played a game where they measured my belly w/ yarn and everyone else had to guess how big my belly was by cutting their own yarn.
Then was time for the presents. We got so many gifts! Clyde's aunts went crazy w/ shopping, and both got us a laundry basket full of clothes and other goodies. So from each of them we got about 15 outfits or so. We also got our highchair, bouncer, and pack n play.! We barely fit it in our suv on the way home. My cousin also sent two bags of handme down clothes, but my mom is bringing them up this weekend. I think we are set on clothes!!
I have spent the past two days going through and organizing all of our gifts. We have another shower this upcoming weekend, and I wonder what we will get for that. Thank goodness baby Logan is loved- we have saved a lot of money! We are blessed!!!
I had my 34 week appointment yesterday! All looks good with baby and me! I gained another 4 lbs in two weeks, but doc believes it is mainly swelling/water weight instead of fat. They performend the strep test on me and while he was down there he did an internal exam. Baby is head down and no progress yet. I am happy about that because he needs a couple more weeks to continue to cook. He is not allowed to come out before 38 weeks! I go back in 2 weeks and then I drop down to weekly!!
I am starting to get nervous about this whole thing. I cant believe that I am going to have a baby! I am so ready to meet him but I am so nervous about the whole thing! I know this is normal but it is just so wierd to me!
I cant believe it has been 2 weeks since I last posted. I am doing well! I cant believe today I hit 36 weeks- 4 weeks to go!!! YAY! Clyde and I have been busy! I had my second shower a week and a half ago. It was nice- I had about 12 people show up and we got a load of gifts. Some of our gifts included our changing pad, breastpump, my boppy, bathtub, diaper champ, etc.... So that evening and Sunday my mom and I set up the nursery and started washing sheets, etc.
The past two weeks I have been busy organizing the nursery and washing all of the clothes we recieved. I also went through and figured out what we needed to return and exchange. We took back several things to Target yesterday and plan on going to BRU next weekend. I think we pretty much have everything we need, but there are just a few items that we still could use.
We put together our pack n play yesterday! It is so cute. Now we just have to put together the cradle, swing (which my sil is sending us a missing part) and our carseat/stroller. After that I think we are pretty much ready!!
I am doing well! I have become extremely tired lately. It is hard to get comfy at night. My hips are starting to hurt because that is the only way I can lay. After not being able to get comfy, once I do fall asleep I am up every 2 hours peeing. So lets say a good night of sleep hasn't happened in awhile. I am now taking naps during the day and realize that those help a lot. I have also had sore legs, hips, and pelvis. The doc said it is normal, but there are certain days where I feel like I have been in the gym all day long.
I had my last 2 week appointment today- and start going every week next week. Everything was good- Bloodpressure was actually low for me, heartrate was good, and I only gained 1-2 lbs in two weeks!! YAY!! Baby's heartbeat was a little fast today, around 160 but he was in the middle of exercising (he was making so much noise-hitting the doppler) so they said that was ok. Then he did an internal- no progress yet! I am ok for now with the no progress thing, but I hope in the next couple of weeks to have some change. I really would rather not come late!!!
Logan is now considered full term and can come at any time! YAY!!! I cant believe that in 4 weeks or less I am going to be a mommy!! We had our weekly appointment yesterday and I got good news. The baby is doing well, even though I am not feeling him as much. He has days where I dont feel him very much but seem to get more sharp pains in my cervix, and a lot of cramping. And then on other days I feel him throughout the day, but it isn't painful.
My appointment started off as normal- blood pressure is good, heartrate is good, and weight gain is slowing down. Doc came in and did the internal- baby is head down and engaged !I DROPPED!!!!, and I am also starting to thin out. So doc said it is beginning. I know it could stay this way for awhile but hey it is a good sign!! I also asked how long they would let me go past my due date before they would induce and he said a week, so woohoo in 4 weeks we should have a baby some how!. I am not too excited about being induced but at that stage I think it would be ok.
I am having horrible cramps in my upper legs and pelvis. Doc said it is because the babys head is so low- so that makes me feel better. I thought on Sunday that I was having the baby- severe pressure and pain, but it was constant not like what I would expect from contractions. Hopefully I will be able to destinguish them when they start. So now I am in the waiting game!!!!
Wow I just realized it has been awhile since my last post. I never even updated after my appointment this past week. I am now 38 w and 6 d pregnant, tomorrow is a week from my due date. YAY!!! I had my normal appointment on Monday and everything was good- baby's heartbeat was on target, my blood pressure was perfect, and weight gain is starting to slow down. The internal was even more painful this week, but again no dialation or anymore effacement. I am now starting to believe this baby is going to stay in forever. Clyde and I were hoping that he would come this weekend, but it doesn't look like that is happening.
I have been having severe hip/pelvis pain. My doc said that the baby is low so that is why I am having so much pain. A few nights ago I had a spell of contractions, but only about 2, so it wasn't a big deal. Hopefully though it did something, and tomorrow I will hear good news. I am going to talk to my doc tomorrow about inducing. He said we would do it a week past my due date, but I would like to go ahead and find out about when. Yes I know I am a planner.
Other than that I am extremely tired and big. We went out last night for dinner and Clyde had to help me in and out of the car. It was so funny. I never imagined I would get this big.
Logan is moving up a storm these past few days. His little legs and arms are constantly moving, and I still enjoy each movement. I am so ready though to have him in my arms and see him make those movements. Hopefully it wont be too far off...
I am so excited but have to remember that just because I have progress does not mean this baby is coming now. BUt I am happy that I do have a little bit of progress. Anyway- last week I had no progress, but today I was 80%effaced and 2 cm dialated. YAy!!!!
My doc was pretty impressed and seems to think I will have this baby before next Monday. I hope he is right! He also went ahead and stripped my membranes, which was a little painful, but if it does something then I am ok with it. He said he got in there pretty good, so hopefully it will jumpstart labor.
Since my appointment I have been having my normal cramping, but no where near as much bleeding/spotting that I usually get after an internal. I have cramping but I usually have that for the day of the internal. Please let it work!!!
Well it has been awhile since my last post and yes Logan is here. He is 3 weeks old today and I realized that I never posted his birth story, so here goes...
We went in for our 40 week appointment on Monday November 6th. I had no progress again, still at 2 cm, 80 % effaced. My doc decided to induce us, and set us up to get induced the next day. I was told not to eat anything after midnight, so Clyde and I planned a huge meal the night before. My mom came up that night so she could drive up there with us. I was afraid I wouldn't sleep so I took some benedryl to help me sleep, and thank goodness it worked.
The next morning we got up and drove to the hospital. Mom had to take a before picture to capture me on my last day of pregnancy. We checked in to the hospital at 10 am, and by 11 am we were in our LDR. I was put on a monitor and given an IV. They realized that I was already having contractions and they were about 7 minutes apart. The funny thing was I had no idea I was having them. After an hour they started the pitocin (noon), and checked me- I was still at 2 cm and 80 % effaced.
The next few hours I was having perfect contractions (or so they said). They were coming every 5 minutes apart and were starting to get strong. We decided about 3:30 that I was going to get an epidural. Since I was so tight the nurse decided not to give me another internal until I got the epidural. The epidural was not bad, and it was so helpful to have it. The contractions were speeding up to about every 4 minutes, but when she checked I was still only 3 cm dialated.
The contractions continued until 7 pm, when my doctor showed up. He did an internal and yes I was still 3 cm dialated. He broke my water, but was talking about that we would probably end up with a c section. I was ok with that, since I always expected it.
My contractions started coming every 2 mins apart, and became very strong. Throughout the night I was checked every 2 hours, and finally I started to have some progress. By midnight I was 6-7 cm dialated, and the babies head was engaged. They decided to put an internal monitor on Logan, to see if he was doing ok and to see how strong my contractions actually were.
3 hours later I really started having bad contractions. At 3 am, I could feel the pressure in my bottom, and called the nurse in. She checked me again and I was 9 cm dialated. I was so excited because this meant I was almost there. After an hour of intense contractions they upped my dose of pitocin and my epidural.
At 4 am- they came in again to check me and I had a fever. I was still at 9 cm dialated, and the nurse said there was a small part of my cervix that wasn't opening, and the babies head was behind that. She had me try to push one time to see if he would come down, but nope he didn't. I also found out that he was head up, so they were going to see if he would turn on his own. We also noticed that I had a fever, and also had a lot of blood in my catheter. The doc was called and around 5 am he came in. He decided to go ahead and do a c section since the babies heartrate started to race, and my fever was coming back. So they started to prep me for surgery. I got emotional at this point, not because I was having a c section, but because of the fact that it was surgery. I was scared to death.
They rolled me into the room, and Clyde finally came in. Clyde looked so funny, he had a mask and his glasses, so I could hardly tell it was him. The epidural was making me incredibly sleepy, but finally I heard the best sound in the world. Logan screaming!!! He was born at 6 am- 18 hours after I was induced. I started crying immediately, and noticed that Clyde was also crying. They told him to stand up and look at our big boy. The doc kept saying how big he was, and at one point I heard wow she just gave birth to a toddler. ONce Clyde stood up and said wow he is big, I knew we had a big boy on our hands. They brought him up so we could see him, and man he was so beautiful. They weighed him and he was 9 lbs 15 oz, and 22 inches long. Clyde left with Logan to take him to the nursery while they finished with me.
As soon as Clyde left I got so sick. I finally fell asleep while they finished up. I was wheeled back into my room, no one was in there since they had all gone down to the nursery. I took a short nap before Clyde, his mom, and my mom came back up to see me. They shortly bought Logan up to see us. I found out then that he had low blood sugar so they had to give him some formula, and sugar water. I got to hold him for a short time, but was so afraid I would drop him (I was still drugged up).
After our short visit they took him back down to the nursery so they could give him his bath. They also wanted to keep an eye on his blood sugar, but would bring him to me once I was moved to the postpartum room. We got moved down to the room, and everyone went home. They had all been there most of the labor time, and everyone needed some sleep. So Clyde and I were alone for the first time since the morning before.
We were waiting on them to bring us Logan when a doctor entered our room. He introduced himself and told us that he was the doctor in the NICU. They were going to move Logan into the NICU due to fluid in his lungs. He explained that it was pretty normal for big babies who were born by c section to have this, and they wanted to keep an eye on him. I was told that I could go visit when I felt up to it. As soon as he left, we both started to cry. I cant explain right now how hard and how scared we both were. We called our parents to let them know what was going on. They bought Logan in for a short visit before moving him up to the NICU.
Clyde went to visit him a lot that day, but since I couldn't go it was so hard on me. I was suppose to be with him, but my baby was all by himself. That night though I went for my first visit, and ended up in severe pain and so sick that I only stayed for about five minutes. It was so hard to see him in there with tubes and oxygen attached to him.
Long story short, Logan was moved out of the nICU to the step down room within a day. He was still on an iv but was taken off the oxygen pretty quickly. We spent more time each day with him, and I started to feel better about his health. On Friday (2 days after my c section) I was discharged, but we were given a hospitality room to stay in, since Logan was not being released yet. We spent the night, and on Saturday found out that Logan was going to get to room in with us on Sat night. This is the step before discharge, where the parents actually get the baby in their room. So Sat night we got Logan and it was great to have him without any tubes.
On Sunday we were discharged, and finally came home 5 days after we arrived. Logan has been doing well these past few weeks. He is now 10 lbs 4 oz, and is no longer jaundice. He is having severe gas so I am trying to watch what I eat, but he is overall a great baby..
