Hello Sweet Katelyn...

The Birth Story of: Katelyn Brooke Boyett (13 January 2008)
Welcome to the world, sweet baby Katelyn. There are so many people--family and friends--who are so happy and thankful, that you are here, safe and sound.
Your grand entrance into the world probably began around 3:00 a.m. on 13 January 2008. The contractions began, as I tried to sleep with your tush high in my right rib cage. They were pretty far apart at that point, not too painful, but steady. As I lay there, I just knew that if they continued and got closer, your birthday would be later today. By 7 a.m., the contractions were between 3 and 7 minutes apart, and getting more painful with each one. I went out into the living room where your dad was up reading, and said, "I think that we are ready to have a baby today."
With just about everything prepped, I got dressed and we kissed your brother and sister goodbye. Then, it was off to Wellstar Cobb Hospital. I had contractions most of the way there, and am very glad that I was able to experience them. This makes me feel like I've had a small part in the actual delivery part of this pregnancy.
When we reached the hospital, I went up to Triage and got hooked up to the monitors. For about 2 hours I labored and was monitored, while the nurses consulted with Dr. Angela Hudson, the "On-call" OB. When Dr. Hudson arrived to meet us, she said that she felt it was time to deliver you. She told me that, she had read through my entire chart and was aware of my medical challenges.
By 11 a.m., I was walking (a first) into the Operating Room and the spinal was placed. Both Dr. Hudson and Dr. Consul (her assistant), along with the OR team and your dad were there. By 11:44, we heard the first of your sweet, sweet cries--a most special and beautiful sound. At this point, tears began flowing from my eyes...as I felt that G-d had blessed us once again with another beautiful baby. Welcome to the world, Katelyn Brooke!
After the nurses prepped you, cleaned you and recorded your apgars (8 and 9 respectively), they brought you over to see me. I was so overjoyed to see your sweet baby face, and couldn't wait to hold you and give your first food and mommy kisses.
Dad left with you and you waited for me in the recovery room. You were weighed and measured again, and given your first bath. Once I joined you, I was able to hold you close for the first time. Oh, what pure joy--heaven on earth that no words can truly describe! It is times like this, that I really feel the presence of your sister, Rachael Ann, shining down on us.
I was able to nurse you in the recovery room for the first time too. There are no words adequate enough to describe how special this is for me. Fortunately, your dad was able to document much of your birth story in pictures. These are truly treasures for me, and, I hope, someday, for you as well.
So, sweet Katelyn Brooke Boyett, born on 13 January 2008, in Atlanta, Georgia, welcome to life!
I love you sweet girl, and always and forever will!
