I decided to start a Pregnancy Journal despite my misgivings. For some reason, I feel compelled to journal this pregnancy. And, I have a good plan in place for this pregnancy and it’s time to start thinking positive and moving forward. BTW-If anyone is interesting in reading about my losses you can head over to the High Risk Pregnancies Board and read my story under the Our Stories Thread. It’s been over 17 months since my stillbirth and I had been TTC for 12 months. I got pregnant with an IUI and Gonal F injectables cycle.

I have been feeling pretty good, other than being very tired and overwhelmed by work. After I have the cerclage, I plan on significantly reducing my hours and only going into work a few hours each day.

It’s been a pretty uneventful week with not too much to report. Morning Sickness kicked in on Saturday and I have felt nauseated ever since. But so far it’s manageable. I am still very tired and want to sleep most of the time. That makes it really hard to be motivated for work. The shots are going well and no complaints there. I have some bruising, but not as much as I expected.

My first u/s is next Monday Yahoo

We have a heartbeat!

Baby is measuring right on track and the HB was 170 BPM! I will have a another ultrasound in 10 days (3/30) followed up by yet another in 10 days. Then my RE will release me to my OB.

I had an apt. with my hemotologist today. He was not there and I had to his PA who knew nothing about my clotting disorder. She actually had to call my regular doc and find out what to do with me  The results of my lab were not even in to see if my blood thinner was working. So they took some more blood and should have the results tommorrow. I go back on April 2nd. I guess I will go in 2-3 times a week for the first 3 weeks and then every three weeks. I was running a temp (99.0- no big deal) and so she took a urine sample. No infection, so that's good.

Boy am I glad I went to see the hemotologist. It turns out that I actually need a higher dose of Lovenox. Blood test indicated that I still had some clotting going on.

Rough thing is that I will need blood test and visits intially a couple times a week. In a few weeks, I will only have to go every three weeks or so.

More visits mean more co-pays and more 20 %'s though

RE apt went great. Baby is measuring a day ahead and the HB 180 BPM Blum 3 The RE was very pleased.

My M/S is progressively getting worse. I had to leave work early yesterday because I was feeling so awful. I threw up so hard that I peed me pants  The RE gave me some meds today and that has been helping a little.
My next and last apt with the RE is on April 9th and then I see my OB in town.

:x :x

I am so pissed right now. I just got back from a visit with my hemotologist. My apt. was at 3:45 pm and it took me 1 hour and 1/2 just to get in the exam room and another 30 minutes for him to see me. And to top that off the last 4 tests I took are crap. I was supposed to take the test 4 hours post Lovenox dose. I take my doses at night, so my results were all screwed up. But I still have to pay for all the labs???? Ugh! So I have to take yet another test at noon to see where my levels are really at

Cervix is LONG and CLOSED Yahoo

He is going to place the cerclage around 15-16 weeks. I should know the exact date by Friday Smile

I have not updated in awhile because I have been as sick as a dog with the stomach flu :bigsad:

It all started on Wenesday afternoon. I threw up lunch (not so a typical because M/S is still around now and again). But then I threw up 20 minutes later and then 20 minutes after that. So I went home from work and it continued well into Thursday morning. Throwing up every 20 minutes! I called my doctor and he had me come in. I had lost 7 pounds in less than a week and was dehydrated. He sent me home and order that I be under the care of a in-home support nurse. I had an IV for three days for re-hydration. It was nice not to have to go to the hospital.

Although I am still not 100%, I went back to work today. I have so much going on at work with a big project coming up that I may not be around the org for awhile.

I got some unsettling news at my OB visit today. He checked my cervical length and said that my cervix is closed but it's half the size of a normal pregnant cervix  He said that it is the same size since my first visit with him in February and said that he did not want to worry me at the time because there is nothing that could be done about it then. :-? He said that even if I did not have a history of loss with IC as as suspected cause, I would get a cerclage anyway.

I have been scheduled for a cerclage since the beginning of my pregnancy as a prevented measure because they are unsure if my loss was caused from an Incompetent Cervix (IC) or my clotting disorder. Now we know that I truly have IC. I really hope and pray I can make it to Wednesday when the cerclage is scheduled to be put in.

Please pray for me or send positve thoughts everyone  I am really worried.

My pre-op apt with my OB and at the hospital went well. The procedure will take about 30 minutes and I will be under general anesthesia. After the cerclage is put in, I will be monitored for contractions for awhile. Then I go home. I was told I would be at the hospital for 6 hours. I am taking Thursday and Friday off as a precaution and then it's back to work on Monday at my reduced schedule.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers everyone! I will not be online on Wednesday, but will have my friend Karen update my journal on my behalf.

The surgery appears to have been a sucess and I am feeling pretty good. As Karen said, it took all of 15 minutes and my doctor said he was surprized that I had more cervix to work with than he first thought. I did have more bleeding than he was expecting. He thinks that is due to the blood thinners, although I stopped taking them for the surgery on the Sunday before.

Here is a cartoon graphic of what my cerclage generally looks like if anyone is interested.

I go back to see the doc for on the 22nd and I am hoping to talk to him about when I can make my apt for the 20 week u/s.

Thank you so much to all my online friends who have been praying for me and sending positive thoughts my way Smile

Today is the first day I felt significant movement. It was unmistakeable and no way it could be passed off as anything but "baby" Smile

My DH had to go to a camp with his team this weekend. He was so worried about leaving me. He called me three times each day and left early just to get home. Bless his heart. He worries more than I do. He is starting to get borderline obsessed in his online research. I saw that he did a google search on cerclage failure rates on Thursday night Sad

I hope you don't mind my posting in your journal. I'm glad your cerclage went well. It's great that you were able to be in and out in one day. My doc's told me that if I need one I'll have to check into the hospital one day before and stay one day after (minimum of three days) so that I can be switched over to heparin and monitered. Maybe it's because I already have clots...who knows. It's great to hear you're feeling well and your little one is safe and stuck inside. Smile

My apt. today was uneventful and the highlight was hearing the HB with a doppler. I actually don't go back for another month  Hopefully, I will be able to hang on that long. He told me that I could come in more often after 22 weeks (time of my last loss) for reassurance. He said that he does not want to fiddle with the cerclage at this point by looking at it too much. He said just look out for the signs of pre-term labor.

No big U/S at 20 weeks. He does not do his U/S until 22-24 weeks. He said that you can see more at that time. DH is annoyed and wants to know the sex really bad Lol I am in no big hurry myself because I am not going to buy anything. I *may* purchase a few things after 35 weeks, but will not have a shower until after the baby is born. I know that sounds crazy to some, but it will make me feel better and for the first few weeks you don't need to much anyway Smile

Hi Kris :wavehello:

I think you have a different protocal because you are one on a higher dose of Lovenox and like you said currently have clots. I am on Lovenox for preventive reasons because of my Factor V Leiden and higher tendency to clot in pregnancy.

Thanks for stopping by and checking on me Blum 3

I had a scare on Thursday night

I started bleeding and it was more than spotting. Bright red too. So I went to the emergency room and waiting what seemed like a lifetime to get in. I started feeling contractions. Of course I was flipping out. They did a U/S and baby was fine. They did a pelvic and the cerclage was still in place and the cervix was shut. The emergency room doc said their was blood in the vaginal canal but not coming out of the cervix. He could not figure out the source of the bleeding. So he called my OB and I went home and was told to drink lots of water and stay off my feet. I see my OB in his office on Tuesday, since Monday is a holiday.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I am worried and going stir crazy laying in bed all day. I am really hoping that he does not order bedrest.

Had an apt with my OB today after the emergency room visit. He suspects the bleeding was due to one of the stiches cutting into my cervix. It is a sensitive area and being on the Lovenox would make me bleed more than the average bear. He is not sure why I had the contractions. At this point I wonder if I even did or if it was just in my mind  Anyway, he said that it is not that uncommon to bleed post cerclage placement. Especially only a week after placement. The important thing is that the bleeding stopped and turned to brown quickly which it did.

It is so frustrating because there is nothing I can do but wait and try to take it easy. I just want to got to sleep and wake up and be past the point of viability so I can be sane again Sad

On a good note, I did get the schedule the big U/S today. June 27th at 4:30 pm!

We made our first baby purchase :?

I know I swore I was not going to buy anything. Especially this early!!! But we just had to get it. A place for the baby to sleep is one thing we need before it comes.

1. We love it and the wood is very similar to our bedroom furniture
2. It was only $110.00 in the store. It's $289.00 online!
3. They have a year return policy with a receipt.

My bad day is on Saturday. I will be at the same gestation as when I lost DS.
I have been dreading it. I don't know why it worries me so much? I think it's me just being paranoid :-?

Happy thoughts right? BiggrinBiggrinBiggrin

We would have of course been happy with a girl as well, but after losing our DS we really wanted another boy. Coach was in tears and had passing league at the school right after the apt. You better believe he took his penis pic with him to show his fellow coaches!

Ahhhhhhh!!!!!! I am having a BOY!

Nate is a great name Bobbie. I once knew a guy named Nate and he was super hot! DH and I have had our name picked out for years. We did not use this name with the DS we lost because we knew we wanted to use it again if we were blessed with another son and it’s a family name. His name will be Thomas Jacob, but we will call him Jake. Thomas is my father’s name. My daughters name is Katherine Paige, but she goes by Paige. My name is Katherine and I am named after my mother. We are a strange bunch.

Anyway, we like Jake because it sounds really good will our last name and will sound good over a loudspeaker. That’s how DH’s parents came up with his name  Welcome to my sick world

Thanks for the reminder Dee . In my excitement last night I forgot to post the rest of the details!

From what the doctor could see everything looked fine. The baby was in a weird position (his head was in my bladder) and the doc had a hard time getting measurements. The baby seemed to be measuring a few days ahead so that’s a good thing.

So I obviously made it past my bad day! I have been feeling really good about things lately (knock on wood) and my mind is finally letting my heart get used to the idea that I will be having a baby. I am able to picture it now in my head which I could never do before. I see myself and DH holding him and I see his nursery. It’s a nice feeling. My confidence is actually growing more each day.

I made another decision. I am leaning towards having a shower before the baby is born. I swore up and down that I was going to do it after because the idea of a finished nursery and no baby is downright petrifying. But I think after 35 weeks I should be ok. I am a very “prepared” person and not the type to fly by the seat of my pants. I can’t see having the baby here and then setting up shop. I will feel too strange and I don’t think I will be able to do it.

Thanks for checking on me Dee Smile

in just a few hours I will be six months pregnant!! :clinkingbeer:

I am feeling pretty good and baby Jake has been kicking up a storm the past few days. I get these really hard kicks against my cervix and I swear he is trying to break out  I just learned that the day care (at DD's school) I have him on the waiting list for is going to cost $864.00 per month. That is insane and I am not paying that price. There is no consideration for full or part time either....it's that price or nothing. I will only need care until DD get's out of school, so it's a real waste of money. My cousin has agreed to watch him (starting in February). She has a 4 months old son now and decided to become a SAHM. I feel very blessed to have her.

I broke down and bought some crib bedding and a few other nursery items. There is this bedding I have had my eye on for some time and it recently went to last chance clearance. So I just HAD to get it Wink I have some other items as well. I am going to go for a vintage sports theme. It's from Bombay. Did you know they have kids stuff?

Here is the bedding:

the walls in his room are already a creme tan color, so I will not need to repaint!

Here is the valance I ordered

\

And here are some accessories I have purchased.

I did have it personalized. I can't believe it actually went through with it. It was a big step for me, but it's cute huh?

I also got these wall hooks

I am think I am going to order a personalized football jersey painting off ebay soon. My dad has this lamp he is giving us that was made out of a vintage trophy cup.

Cel- We will be calling him Jake and I am sure my dad will call him Tommy Wink

Be on the look out for anything vintage sports like and PM it to me if you see anything!
