Introductions Thread!

Hello gals!

I wanted to introduce myself and hopefully bring this board back to life! I'm Pamela, an army wife, with 1 little boy (15 months) and another baby on the way! I am a WAHM (in-home daycare) and I love, love to cook! In my family growing up, every meal was a MEAL. There were never frozen meals eaten in front of the TV and I vowed to myself my kids would be raised the same way Smile

Anyway, I'd like to see this board turn into a place where we can come, share our ideas (AND GIVE FEEDBACK! what good is a recipe if no one tells you how it tastes?!) and ultimately take something away from it Smile I will be making some changes in the upcoming days, please feel free to send any feedback/ideas my way so we can all make it happen! Oh ya, and since you're around, say hello! Smile

Hi Pam! I can't wait to see what this board turns into. I could start out by sharing my White Chicken Chili Recipe, but where to put it? A separate thread? Under the other stickies?

Hi Christine! I think that would be a great recipe to share! Let me get back to you as to where to put it, I'm debating how we should format the stickies Smile

Well a quick intro, I'm Wendy with one bub who is just 3 months and married to my hubby for three years(been together for 7 years). I love baking mostly, but general cooking is good too. Hubby is an apprentice chef so I cook a lot just for myself because he works late and often brings leftovers home with him for his tea and of course it will be sometime before baby boy is eating meals with me.

Hello Wendy! I'm SO not a baker haha! Funny enough, DH was the baker in our family- I cook every meal, with a few exceptions and he baked anything else haha! We'll have to get a baking thread going!

Hi! I am Christine, SAHM to an amazing miracle baby Jack. He was born October of 2009 and had a rough start, but we are slowly turning things around. I have a lot of experience with feeding issues in babies and a lot of foodie experience growing up with a chef for a mom. I also have a bachelor's of science in Hospitality Management so I know a lot about food service.

I love making pastries and desserts and don't normally cook to recipes. I have ingredients and I usually just wing the measurements! LOL

@Wendy-I cook a lot for myself too and my son (14 months) has just recently learned how to eat by mouth (he has been and is still on a feeding tube), so I can relate to cooking for myself as my DH works all the time too!

I'm with both you girls! With Dh deployed the past 10 months have been me and the lil' boy Smile So I too don't use many recipes b/c it's just hard to make 1 serving of something. I usually use a recipe as my 'guidelines' and edit from there! But I promise to do my best providing measurements in these threads! Smile

So exciting to have a board coming back to life. My DH does most of the cooking but it's mainly grilled stuff or boxed stuff. If it requires actual recipes I do the cooking. Because I don't eat beef (unless it is organic, which is expensive) I have to make substitutions of turkey or chicken in some recipes.

I'll have to post my recipes for a low-fat chili, homemade spaghetti sauce, and lasagna.

I'm Cindy. I love to cook and bake and with food allergies in my family it keeps me to a gluten free dairy free menu. It's a good challenge to convert recipes. I'm always looking for new recipes and right now healthy recipes after the holidays.

I haven't seen it, I'll have to look it up. I love the 4 ingredient recipes because then I probably have everything I'll need.

I'm not sure how I missed this post. Any here it goes.

I'm Angela. I'm a SAHM to four kiddos two of which have special needs (one is autistic so it includes food problems). My oldest (17yo) is homeschooled and he is actually doing home ec this year so I'm having him doing lots of cooking. I like trying knew recipes and get bored with what I make fast. Because of my kiddos special issues I can't really work outside the house. Sooooooooo that leaves us on a very tight budget. So I like things with simple and cheap ingredients. But I wouldn't trade it for the world because I get to spend lots of time with my kids. Oh and our church is starting a baking/cooking club and our first thing is this Saturday where we will learn to make egg rolls. Yummmm!!

Hi, I'm Tammy! I am married and we have a 15 month old son, Ethan. I work part time as a Parent Educator and am just starting another part time job as a mentor for teachers who work in a Head Start program. I really enjoy baking and cooking. I usually plan a menu each month and have learned to do some bulk cooking so I can freeze meals for those days that are really busy. I am thinking of joining Weight Watchers again so I would really like to see some healthy recipes. I look forward to sharing recipes and trying some new ones!

Just wanted to pop in and say welcome to those who are new to the board!

Hi Tammy! I just joined WW this weekend so I started a Healthy Recipes thread. Feel free to post any healthy options in there!

Hi Ashley! We get new recipes often. Invite your friends and hopefully we can get this board jumping!

Hi, I'm Nicole Smile

I absolutely love cooking, and browsing through cookbooks and recipes so I'm sure I'll enjoy hanging around here. Right now it's just me and DH so we jump from one extreme to the next, spending an hour cooking a nice supper one night - to pizza pops and sandwiches the next (which I have no intention of feeding our kids for supper once they come along!).

We are just trying to get into the habit of menu planning and mixing in some simpler recipes that will keep us a away from the pre-prepared meals.

Hi girls!! I'm Mandie! Mostly a SAHM but I work part time every other weekend just to help make ends meet. I LOVE to cook!! My Favorite is spicy or anything with buffalo sauce! I'm getting pretty good at taking a recipe and making it healthy and lowering the calories. DH & I are trying to loose alot of weight. He's down 20 pds and I'm down 15 pds.

Can't wait to check out new recipes!!! This will be great when I'm trying to put together a weeks menu and can't think of anything!!!

Hi ladies. I'm Gemma, married with a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old. I love the planning of meals and the actual cooking. I get put off by prep work though. I grew up with all home cooked meals though and that is mostly what we eat too.

Hi ladies, I'm Dana. I love to bake and cook, and am always looking for new recipes to try. With dh being a chef, if I want something healthy and lower fat, I have to make it myself.

Hi, I'm Tina, I have two little girls, Samantha is 2 (Oct. 2008) and Sophie is 6 months (July 2010). I didn't know about this board until last night. I am doing the Biggest Loser Challenge on here, and this weeks mini-challenge was to come to this board and do some posts. I'm so happy to have found this board. I just joined Weight Watchers this week, started yesterday! I love to cook and bake, and right now I am definitely in search of healthy recipes. Looking forward to getting to know you all here.

So many new faces! It is so exciting! I started a thread caller Healthier Options. We can put any WW recipes in there. Make sure to post serving size and points for each serving and specify if it is points for the old program or the new points plus program!

Hi! :wavehello: My name is Pamela and I have 5 kiddos (10 and under). I love to bake, but struggle with coming up with new meals for my family; mainly lunch and dinner. We seem to get stuck in a rut and eat the same things over and over...I NEED variety! Wink

Helloooooo ladies Smile I never knew about this thread either. So happy to have been informed of it. My name is Marie (siggy of course Wink ) and I have two little boys. I love to cook from scratch whenever I can. My biggest issue is that I seem to make a recipe only once and then am on the hunt for a new one. LOL I can't wait to find some of the lowfat recipes from here and give them a try.

Hi everyone, I'm Mary, mostly SAHM but I also do PT WAH, am a PT Nanny, and a Writer wanna-be (haha). I'm 42, DH is 41, and we have one very energetic, imaginative, and outgoing 'almost 4'-yr old daughter. I LOVE to cook, sometimes homemade if I'm feeling especially energetic, but most of the time what I like to call 'homemade with help.' I love trying new recipes and sharing good ones I've discovered so I can't wait to get more involved on this board! So thankful for the POBLC that "reminded" me about this board! Biggrin

Hi everyone! I'm Sarah, SAHM to 3 year old Mia. I also sell Tastefully Simple to make some extra money. I love to cook and bake and am always looking for new recipes so I'm glad the POBLC sent me this way! I'm willing to try anything, DH, not so much, but I've learned if I don't tell him what's in it until after he eats it, I get farther!

Can't wait to try some new things!

Just found this board, and can't wait to see what people are cooking!

I'm Kristin. I have a son, Alex, who will be 4 in July. I work from home part-time as an attorney - kind of a weird arrangement due to the fact that my husband relocated us twice in three years. My weight has been a constant struggle, and I've been trying to follow a "clean eating" type of diet using fresh vs. prepackaged foods while tracking calories, carbs, fat, sodium, etc. I've been blogging a bit about the journey, if you want to see some of my favorite recipes, foods, etc: http://insearchofabetterself.wordpress.com/

HI ALL!!!
I'm Lisa. I got a 3 1/2 year old Aislynn, and a 2 year old, Kilynn. I've recently made a change in my life to be healthier. I'm a pretty good cook, but I'm definitely in a rut of recipe choices.

I really appriciate everyone being so involved in the Healthy Weekly Recipe exchange. (don't forget to sign up on the thread to get your week).
