    I wish I could be in a better place.

    Default spaghetti sauce recipe

    Somewhere along the way, someone had posted a recipe for spaghetti sauce. I don't know where to find it, and we have a ton of tomatoes rippening right now. any suggestions? Preferably, something that I can freeze. Thanks. to Morgan 5/14/96, Arianna and Brianna 11/12/99

    Spaghetti Sauce Italiano
    2 tablespoons olive oil

    1 (6.00 ounces) can tomato paste

    6 ounces inexpensive red wine
    1 tablespoon dried basil
    1 tablespoon dried oregano
    salt and black pepper

    1. In a large pot, add red pepper flakes in olive oil, stir 1 minute.
    2. Sauté onion and green pepper in olive oil at medium heat.
    3. Add garlic and sauté 2 minutes.
    4. Add canned tomatoes, tomato paste, mushrooms, sugar, and red wine.
    5. Stir in spices, cover, and simmer, stirring every 15 minutes.
    6. After 2 hours, add more wine if sauce is too thick and re-season.
    7. Sauce should cook on low heat for at least 3 hours.
    8. Remove from heat, cool, and refrigerate overnight.
    9. The next day, heat sauce over low-medium heat.
    10. Add 1 lb of your favorite meatballs or sausages.
    11. If adding 1 lb of meatballs and sausages, double sauce recipe.
    12. Serve with your favorite pasta, grated cheese, red wine, and crusty bread.
