What's Your Roast Recipe?

In a conversation earlier amongst friends we were discussing differences in roast recipes. Most required the use of the crock pot but that is not necessary. We want to see your roast recipe to see how many variations there really are! Let's see 'em ladies!

Here is mine:
Crock Pot
1 T of oil
Garlic Powder
Baby Carrots

Throw it all in and let the pot do the work!

1packet french onion soup

Pot Roast:

Pot roast meat, rub with olive oil and TONS of seasonings, brown in skillet on stove (just the outside), yes it's a PITA, no it's not necessary, but it's YUMMY Smile Just adds more flavor.
Put in crock pot with onion soup mix, water and let simmer till nearly ready.

When it's almost ready, put int carrots, onions and potatoes (red or B potatoes work best for size). Add one can of tomato paste and continue to cook till veggie are done. Depending on how mushy you want your veggies will depend on how early you want to put them in.

Serve and YUM!

Pot Roast or in the Slow Cooker

Combine flour with salt and pepper. Cover the roast in flour mixture and brown on all sides in 1/4 cup melted butter. Place roast in slow cooker or roasting pan. I also add in potatoes, carrots, and zuchinni. Deglaze pan with 1/4 cup of wine (white or red) and pour over roast.

-a can of cream of celery/mushroom soup
-a packet of onion soup mix
-1/2 cup of wine (white or red)
-desired seasonings (I like the roast packet seasonings)
Pour over roast and cook as desired.

For roast beef, all I do is season with salt and pepper and put it in the oven at 350 until cooked to the prefered doneness (in my house, that would be medium rare).

For roast pork loin, I make a rub with olive oil, salt, pepper, thyme, oregano, and basil. Then rub the mix on the fat side of the loin, place the roast into the oven at 500 for 10 minutes, then turn the oven down to 350 until the meat has reached 150F, then let it sit for 10 minutes covered in foil.

mine is very much like the first recipe, from Christine. I use regular carrots, cut up in chunks, never less than a pound. One time I did brown it first, but usually I just put it in as is.

Roast Pork Fillet:
Chop some apples and rub them with some olive oil and oregano (I just use dried). Make slits in the pork fillet, rub it with olive oil and stick the apples into the slits. Wrap in tinfoil and then bake at a medium heat until it is done to your specification.

Roast Chicken:
I rub it with peri peri spices and throw it in the crockpot!

Slow Cooker Cranberry Pineapple Pork Roast

1 pork roast
1 can cranberry sauce
1 can pineapple tidbits
1 sm-med onion, thinly sliced
Salt and Pepper

Cornstarch if desired

Place onion at the bottom of the slow cooker, then the roast. Pat with s&p. Pour pineapple and cranberry sauce over the roast and pat again.
High for 4-6, or low for 6-8.

Pull the roast out, strain the liquid (SAVE fruit/onion!) make cornstarch according to gravy instructions (2 tbsp per 1/4? I think?) and add to the liquid. Bring to boil, allow to thicken.

Serve pork and fruit/onion over rice.

(Warning: It sweetens overnight so leftovers may not be to your taste - especially by day 3)

It depends on the cut and type of meat.

For a bottom round roast (Which u can find bogo alot) I season with salt and pepper, worchestershire sauce and a bit of hot sauce. Then brown it on all sides. Warm oven to 500 degrees and make sure its good and hot. Then put the roast in and cook for 7 mins per pound. Then turn off the oven but DON"T OPEN IT!!! Let the roast side for 2 hours and it slow cooks. It is sooo yummy!!!

For other beef cuts I just throw it in the crock pot with what ever i have. My favorite is with a can or 2 of french onion soup. Creamy soups work. Or if my pantry's bar I might just do a little bit of beef broth with chopped up onion and garlic.

I love doing a pork roast with my homemade BBQ sauce! I put a pork roast in and cover in diced onions and BBQ. Let it cook all day and then shredded!
