Yay! Thanks Pam! LOL except I feel like we are talking to ourselves here! We gotta get this board rocking!!!

I made Chili tonight...my recipe that is as close to Steak n Shake chili as I can get...however it tastes burnt??? I had it in the crock pot barely an hour and it started smelling funny. I have no idea what went wrong. There are no burnt bits or anything stuck to the pot, it just smells burnt...so weird.

Does the chili smell and taste burnt? Maybe the smell was coming from something in the crock pot rather than the meal itself? Or, maybe like the stuff that crusts around the edges got 'burnt' to the side of your crock pot? Hmm.. I loooooooove chili! Smile We make chili mac OFTEN when DH is home!

Have you made it that particular way before? New ingrediants?

I will have to try making it, never made it before. Don't come across it here in NZ too often.

It tastes kind of funny, but not burnt. But it is the chili that smells burnt. I will have DH eat some tonight and see what he says. Maybe with the bloody noses I keep having due to dry weather is causing havoc with my smeller...?

Oh, Hi Nicole :wavehello:

oh hahahahah! Maybe I should pay attention. whoops! KUP!

I didn't end up making it to the store today; so now I'm scrambling to figure out dinner- this is going to be one of those, "what do I have in the fridge" meals.. hm..

What did you end up making Pam?

DH had chili as soon as he got home. The only thing he said was he didn't like the tomatoes. I put a can of whole stewed tomatoes in it, like usual, and I guess he got a bite of skin. But as far as the taste he didn't have any complaints. I guess I will blame it on my horrible nose problems, lol

On my days of "what to make?" I usually opt for quesadillas, pancakes, or hamburger. Those days usually accompany not much time to make dinner like last night and our standard pancakes Smile

I had a crockpot go bad and it burned (it was obvious though) the food on one side. I assumed the heat element didn't stop heating.

I ended up taking some steaks we had in the freezer (for who knows how long haha!) and marinated them in some Italian dressing; grilled them.

Then I made SINFUL cheese potatoes; YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMY- super easy! I'm currently eating them for breakfast Wink

Hi ladies Smile Mmmm you have my mouth watering for Steak and Shake chill now! My favorite ever.
Off topic, have you ever tried making your own ravioli? I really want to try but don't know how hard it would be or if I need special tools.... Anyone ever attempt it?

Hi guys. Can I join in? I've only read this page so far, but will try to go back and catch up.

Pam, those cheese potatoes sound good. Is the recipe posted here somewhere? If not, I'd love to have it! Smile

I'm baking the Baked Apples & Sweet Potatoes dish from the Side Dishes thread right now. I was out of aluminum foil, so I thought I'd try baking it without being covered -- big mistake. It wasn't getting done that way. So I used another shallow baking pan I had to cover it, and now it's finally starting to get done. About ten more minutes! I'm actually doing it as a "dessert" rather than a side dish. My DH finally gave up waiting on it and went to bed, haha. Oh well he can try it tomorrow.

It was one of the recipes I tried for the mini-challenge on the BLC board, so I'll do a review on it after trying it.

Is anyone around right now? You're probably all in bed, lol.

Hi Debbie! :wavehello: I'm considering what to make for dinner tonight. After reading the post about making Steak and Shake chili I WANT IT. LOL So I'm looking for a comparable recipe. SO wants chili on spaghetti so I think that might be the winner. Wink We just got another dusting of snow last night so everything is covered! How's it going with you?
