So I started having this really weird pain/cramp on my left side. Where I assume baby *could* be. I think I might have doppler'd myself too much because I'm ...uh..chubby, so I was kinda pressing it in. I HOPE that's all it is. But I was hearing this weird noises. Actually, I got kinda freaked out because I watch too many horror movies and I was waiting for my doppler to say something to me. Yeah, I'm weird. The noises were like.. I can't even explain them. Sounded maybe like a big rubber band ..like a cartoon one where it goes boinginginginging. I kinda got my hopes up thinking I was close to something but I never did hear a heartbeat. Well, except mine. It's amazing HOW MANY places you can hear your heartbeat "down there." And I always check to make sure it's mine and it always is. I've started real low and worked my up and over and moved the wand thingy around. Alissa - where can you hear your babies heartbeat? Left, right, near the belly button, closer to your hair line? I know my baby won't be in the same place as your baby, but.. I just want something to base my search on.
I was really thinking I wasn't going to be obsessive about this doppler thing, but every night for about 6 or 7 minutes, I search for it.
I hate the feeling that something is wrong, it would be SO NICE to be reassured.
Jina - DH is in school like...all night tonight, so no cooking for me. I went a got a sub from an Italian place that everyone raves about. It wasn't all that great. Of course, it didn't have salsa on it and lately that's all I've wanted.. LOL
Jessica - Waaaaay lower than the belly button. Down at the hairline, and kind of angle the wand so that it is pointing down "in" to your pelvic cavity. I always find it pretty much right in the middle (so not off to the left or the right too much, maybe an inch or less off to the side at most) LOL I was giggling at the idea of your doppler "talking to you" - like you're going to hear some demonic voice coming from your hoohah! It also helped me to listen online to a couple of recordings of what it will sound like. Google something like "what does the fetal heart beat sound like" and you should be able to find a couple. It helped me to know what to listen for.
Jina - Yum, chicken and dumplings sounds amazing! Recipe! That sucks you are going to have to pare somethings down. If you have some stuff that you absolutely don't want to get rid of and don't have room for, maybe you could get a small storage unit?
That reminds me, we are talking about moving because we are outgrowing this house, and plus DH wants T and the new baby to be part of his school district (we don't currently live in district.) Eeeep! We have lived here for 6 years, and I do love this house, but I am also kind of excited about the idea of house hunting. We will be taking it slow since there is no hurry and we want to get our house in great condition to sell for hopefully a good price, but now I have that to think about....
I'm going in Oct. 1st :) The brown discharge is pretty much gone but I do get a little sometimes.. I am feeling so much better about it. Hopefully it keeps going well with this little bean!
Ladies how early can you hear something on the doppler? I remember using one with Noah but I can't remember how far along I was!
Alissa, Happy 12 Weeks!!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
I'll post the recipe for chicken and dumplings in the recipe thread. :D
I thought about getting a storage unit and I really really want to make do with the space we have. We'll see...I'm sure I'll break down and end up renting a unit. lol
How exciting about house hunting! We are in the exact same position, I think. We're looking to buy or most likely build a bigger place in a year or two. I'd love to do it now but just the thought of trying to sell and buy a house with a baby on the way is stressing me out. We are definitely going to be in a new house before we try for #2. Is your DH's school district far from where you are now?
Nidia, awesome! Less than 2 weeks away til your appointment! I can't wait to hear all about it. :D
I was able to find the h/b at exactly 9 weeks and every day since. I think it just depends on where the baby is positioned. I was able to find it pretty quickly because I asked my RE during an u/s where the baby was hanging out. Maybe if you get an u/s you could ask your doctor of tech to show you.
Jessica, LOL about the doppler talking to you. I wonder if you were getting interference from your cell phone? Or sometimes if you hold the wand too close to the handheld portion it'll make some funky noises.
You should have poured some salsa on your sub! I totally would have. lol
AFM, Sooo...this is probably waaaay TMI and it's actually quite embarrassing. lol Anyhoo, before pregnancy, I used to just eat a giant fresh fruit and veggie platter for dinner with no problems. I guess it's been like 20 weeks since I've eaten a lot of fresh veggies and fruit because that's exactly what I had as a snack last night and man oh man I was so freaking bloated and had painful gas alllll night . LOL Poor Hubby....he suffered the same fate as me. Since getting pregnant, I've been slacking in the healthy meal planning department. Oops. I guess I need to re-train my body to eat raw produce again. I went to the store this morning and bought tons of produce....I guess we're just going to have to be in pain for a while. LOL
Jina - Thanks! I am very happy to be 12 weeks! I was reading somewhere that the the 2nd trimester begins in the 13th week, which I didn't realize before, but I'm still psyched to hit the 12 week mark.
To celebrate, I pulled out my old maternity clothes from the basement. So comfy! :) I may have to buy a few more pairs of pants because T was born in June so I bought several pairs of maternity capris that will probably be mostly too cold to wear this time, but other than that I am pretty well set. :)
Haha, that is too bad about the veggies! I totally understand just not having the motivation and energy to eat healthy. I hope that your tummies start feeling better soon!
Yay Nidia! I can't wait to hear all about your appt!!!
AFM - I have the day off work, so I need to work on putting away laundry and making a spot for my maternity clothes. Then at 2 I am going to MILs for Rosh Hoshannah. Hope everyone is having a good day!
Alissa, I think developmentally, 12 weeks is a big milestone. I think your baby is officially a fetus! :D
Oh how cool! I bet it was fun going through all of your maternity stuff. I bet it brought back lots of memories. :D
I hope you guys have a good time at your MILs!
Made a doc appt today. Well actually, they made it for me. I told the nurse what was going on, I think she's more concerned about my discharge than the weird pain I'm having and she told me to come in tomorrow.
Yes, I'm freaked out that she didn't totally blow off my symptoms and tell me everything is okay and she actually WANTED me to come in. Crap. So my appt is at 9, with the MW of the doc office. No ultrasound, so we'll see how well she sets my mind to ease. I've had a discharge the whole pregnancy, it's just getting to be a bit more when I wipe. No blood, but ..she said it could be a UTI. Doesn't it burn when you pee with a UTI? I don't have that.
Anyway, there's a tornado watch here. I hate tornado's. Never been through one, but a couple have come close to where I was living at the time. AND my little bitty city as a great tornado siren thing that goes off ALL THE TIME, I'm not sure it's actually FOR a tornado, but ... it was the same siren that we had when I lived near a Nuclear Power Plant...and the siren would go off if the Nuclear Power Plant blew.. (well, they tested it, it never actually melted down). Anyway, that siren is not a good sign either way.
Jessica - I bet they'll be able to hear the h/b, which I hope will put your mind at ease. I know you haven't been able to find it so far, but they have more practice, and I bet better machines. I've decided that mine is a POS even though I have been able to hear the h/b. It is supposed to tell you the rate of the heart, but it says a number when it's pointed at nothing, like literally, not touching your skin, just pointed in the air, and most of the time says nothing "- - -" when it is pointed at the h/b. I even tested it on my own h/b and it said my heart was being 136 which I highly doubt. LOL Anyway, point being, your drs office has to have a better machine than mine anyway. LOL Please keep us posted what happens tomorrow!
Jina - it was fun going through my old maternity clothes. Definitely reminded me of a lot of old memories of being preg with T! I put on one of the outfits I used to wear all the time (although it fits me a little differently than I remember, LOL, I got it when I was further along with T so I have plenty of room left to grow.) Will post a picture in the picture thread.
How is everyone doing today? Jessica, I was so pleased to read your update on April about seeing the baby's h/b and seeing him/her moving around this morning. I'm sure that was a huge weight off of your mind. :yahoo:
I posted about it on April, but last night a mom that I had just met at T's swim lessons asked when I was due, so I guess that means that I am officially showing. I had to laugh though, because I took a minute before I answered (mostly because I was surprised that I was showing enough that she would feel comfortable to ask...) and you could tell that she was like "Oh crap, foot in mouth, what if she's not pregnant...." LOL
Jina - you're 20 weeks! Baby is as a canteloupe! How exciting!!!!!
Nidia - How are you feeling? Also, can I add you to our list of EDDs? What is your due date?
Alissa - thank you so much! It was really awesome to see him bouncing around like that, especially since I've only seen a few movements before on u/s. I even told the MW that he's going to kick my @ss when I get big enough to feel him. ...(I keep saying him.. I dunno why). He'd kick and float up, punch and float down..head butt...kick and float up, punch and float down...lol. Too freakin cute! And yes, it was a HUGE load off my mind.
Jina - 20 weeks!!!!!! :clappy::clappy: Hope your gas/bloating has gotten better. That's funny that you said it's WAAAYYY TMI, when some of use (okay me) go into TMI overload...like when I post questions about discharge LOL!
Nidia - I know it's *your* doc appt, but I sure do wish it'd hurry up and get here so we can hear about how great everything is going! That was the *only* thing I liked about being high-risk, they brought me in early and made sure everything was okay.
AFM, my allergies are kicking my butt today. Actually they have been for the last couple of days. DH doesn't have school tonight so I made dinner. It smells really good in here, but it's going to be done before he gets home. Oopsie! So..I've been kind of wrestling with this lately because I really don't know what to make of it. I work with all males. All the truck drivers and vendors are male except one - it was the same at my store as well. But it seems like I'm getting hit on a lot at work. By guys that I wouldn't be interested in even if I wasn't married. But it's like..they don't hit on me 'til they find out I'm pregnant. I don't know whether that's some sort of fantasy for them or if they think I'm "safe" and it's just harmless flirting. I keep being told that I only have one more week, but they tell me that every week, so I've been there four weeks now and .. I don't want to be mean to these guys because I keep thinking I'm leaving so it won't matter, but..if I have to work another week and another week and another week I'm not gonna be able to take it. It's nice of them to compliment me, but I am CLEARLY pregnant and even more CLEARLY married.
