Jessica, it sounds like you guys are working through this and that's the important part. Talking it out always helps and I'm glad you're on your way to forgiving him and understanding him better. ((HUGS))
Yes, I think it's great that you're finally letting your friend know that you're not here to please her always. She needs to realize that a friendship is a two way street. I hope she realizes this and starts being a better friend to you.
Alissa, sorry about the never ending laundry. If it makes you feel any better, I have a lot of laundry every week too. I do about 7-8 loads a week and it's just M, the pooch and me. I do a load of dark clothes, whites, sheets, throw blankets, towels, dog laundry and rugs and rags every week!
Ugh! That really sounds frustrating about your DH being messy. I don't really have any advice or tips since M is a neat freak. He cleans and picks up after himself and me all the time. We have a pretty neat house because we both can't stand messes. Maybe you can threaten him by telling him that you're going to hire a maid? Hmmm....maybe he'll like that idea! I'm sorry....just ((hugs)) girl. :(
AFM, I think I'm getting sick or something. I'm so freaking exhausted today and feel like I haven't gotten any sleep at all. I just feel very Blah. I'm so not looking forward to having 2 little girls to look after when I feel this cr@ppy. Ugh...even M is feeling the same way so I think we both have some kind of mild bug or something. ~sigh~
The creamy chicken and wild rice soup was just okay last night. I tried to healthier by cutting back on a lot of ingredients and it backfired. lol I just can't get myself to cook with an entire stick of butter, use full fat heavy cream or heavily salt things. :( Oh well. I'm going to find a better recipe. Anyway, I also made my famous curry chicken salad last night and we devoured it. So dinner wasn't a total loss. :D
What are you guys up to today? I have to clean the bathrooms and do 2 loads of laundry today. I also have to run back up to the store to pick up a few things I forgot yesterday. I also started reading The Passage by Justin Cronin last night and it's pretty good so far. I really want to just curl up and read all day but I must get my chores done first.
Ugh! I just found out that there's 80% chance of rain/thunderstorm this weekend. I was really hoping to take the girls to a park and spend most of the day out. Oh well....maybe I'll take them do an indoor gym or something. lol
Alissa - I was reading your post about the socks and thinking maybe we have the same hubby? Where I'm sitting right NOW, I see 5 socks on the ground, five mtn dew cans and a bowl and a plate on the table. 5 socks...haha, I bet I know where the other one went. My girl doggie loves to play with daddys socks..LOL I don't tend to make DH do much because he works so far away that when he gets home it's like 5 o'clock and hes been gone for nearly 12 hours, even though he only works 8...plus most days he has school. Plus his work is manual labor so I know he's tired. But do I get tired of picking up behind him? Absolutely! I've realized that I need to clean/pick up when no one is around. That way, no matter how upset I get or pissed that he left something that I asked him to do, he's not there for me to yell at and by the time he gets home, I'm usually over it. And I KNOW with a new baby there is going to be crap EVERYWHERE. The first time a dirty diaper is left I'm gonna go off LOL. It's funny too because DH will start cleaning and ... he gets mad that he has to pick up stuff. So I just rather do it to avoid his attitude about it. ... I'm definitely NOT a clean freak, but I have my limits. Good luck with your DH. Smack him around a bit..LOL As for dinner - I'm not sure what I made LOL. I cut up some kansas city steaks ( I'm not even sure what cut of meat that is) and threw it in the frying pan with like 9000 different seasonings. It actually turned out really good BUT the meat wasn't tender, but man the flavor was awesome! We had it over rice and gravy. ...it was a very "brown" plate, it made me laugh because I'm always trying to put some color on the plate and this one was just awful, but DH ate three helpings so...
Jina - I'm sorry you feel bad. I was feeling like I was getting a sore throat the past couple of days but I took some zinc (gross) and I feel better today. I hope you feel better soon. DH told me it's supposed to rain here too this weekend. We didn't have plans, but it's always nice to be able to sit outside when the whether isn't too hot or cold. Do you have one of those bounce houses near you? I know YOU can't go in one, but your nieces might have fun?
AFM, I worked today.. it was my last day in MY store, back to the other one for the next two weeks. *sigh* I got it all cleaned up and now I'm leaving again..lol. My "friend" said she was gonna stop by today, so we'll see about that. DH has school. I took out some hamburger for dinner, but I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet. He called me today and said his hunting trip is back on. I know he was super super excited because he met a guy where he works that rents land in the mountains for a week in November to hunt when black powder season starts. It 'bout broke my heart when he said he wasn't going because we don't have the money and he won't have enough vacation. Well, turns out he will have the vacation and we've both been saving a little money here and there and I told him to go. He wanted to use it for the baby, but.. he was so friggin excited about it, I wanted him to go have fun with the boys. (well, they're actually really old men..lol!) Anyway, the guy cancelled the trip, but then decided to go anyway (I think he got sick and they thought it was bad but it wasn't)..so he was telling me all about it on the phone today. I can always tell he's excited 'cuz he won't shut up.. LOL! It actually works out well though, because the weekend he's leaving, is the weekend I'm supposed to go to the Gourd Festival with my mom in Western VA...so I won't miss him too much (or feel too bad for leaving that long of a time...) It did cross my mind (as it did yesterday when he said he was working late) that I'm not sure if I can trust him, but I pushed it away. I'm not going to think like that. He didn't do anything, so I can't keep punishing him for something that bounces around in my head. I also thought today: I'm a very negative person. I mean, about everything. I've always been like that and ... I might want to change. Maybe. Hope you ladies have a wonderful day. Since DH is working, I'll be lurking about...lol
Jina - Sorry that you have been feeling so tired and off lately. :( I'm sure that if you do have a mild bug, being preggers doesn't help either. That's hard, having two little ones when you're not feeling very energetic, especially if you have to be cooped up all day because of the weather. I don't know if they have either of these near you, but if so, I highly recommend Jump Street and Monkey Bizness. Monkey Bizness is nice because they have a coffee bar with snacks that you can sit at while the kids play. Also, if you go on Sundays from 11 -12, it is half price. Or anyway, it is here. Jump Street is more expensive, but also nice because they have a whole section just for little ones (like 7 and under) with bouncy castles and trampolines, and parents are not expected to go jump, you can sit in a comfy chair and just watch. Other rainy day ideas include taking advantage of the free babysitting at Ikea (don't judge...LOL) or the indoor playgrounds at McDonalds and places like that, although I can never get over the news report I saw about the cleanliness (or lack there of) of those places. I won't tell you; you don't want to know.
Sorry your soup didn't turn out great, but curried chicken salad sounds delish!!!
Jessica - Nice to hear that my hubby isn't the only total slob. You're nicer than I am about it than I am, it sounds like. LOL Like, you don't want to ask him to work after long days, which is sweet. I'm more just tired of fighting about it, and would rather quietly stew. LOL! I'm actually feeling better about it now that I got it off my chest though. It's just that I cleaned the whole house in the past several days, and I have been working at keeping it nice (putting the laundry away as soon as it's done, not letting the dishes sit in the sink, et cetera) so it makes me crazy to come downstairs and find that he's just kind of left stuff where ever. Stupid boys. LOL
I'm sure your hubby is happy and appreciative that you are encouraging him to go hunting (what is black powder season, by the way?) I'm sure that you will have lots of fun with your mom, so it works out well for everyone.
AFM - I think I'm coming down with something too. I was sooo tired yesterday (fell asleep on the couch at like 9:15, usually I go to bed around 10 or a little after) and all day today I have had a scratchy throat. Booooooo! Go away sickness! You are not wanted around here! I am going to have a busy night tonight (swim lessons for T, then helping my ILs decorate their sukkah for Sukkot - lol - google it, I'm too lazy to explain it.) Maybe I can just camp out on their couch and let T help. That was the main reason I was going over anyway.
Alissa - black powder is a kind of rifle. Basically, you have to load the black powder in and your bullet. Most bullets already have the charge (thing that makes it go boom!) in it, but black powder rifles you load the charge (which IS the black powder) in it first and then put a special bullet in them. They're extremely loud and..black powder is extremely explosive, so.. it kind of freaks me out to have it in the house. Tim's dad loved black powder guns so, Tim loves them too. I never knew the difference of any of them until I met Tim, but he's a redneck and showed me! ...now I love guns, haha... and he calls me his redneck woman. I MIGHT have a camo steering wheel cover.. *ahem* Anyway, black powder season for hunting doesn't last a long time, and he hasn't hunted since his dad passed away, so...
Erm.. is it bad that I just cut up two HUGE yellow squashes, sauteed them with onion and...and am now eating a heaping plate of squash? LOL
Jessica - Thanks for the explanation! I am definitely not a gun person (water guns are more my speed 8)) so I had no idea! Yum, I love squash. Sauteed squash sounds just about right. :)
By the way HAPPY 13 WEEKS!!!! :woohoo: :jumpingbeans: :bumshakin: Welcome to the second trimester, lady!!!!
AFM - I am sooo sleepy today. I got to bed a little late because I had a lot to do last night (took T to swim lessons, went to my ILs house, came home and gave T and shower and put him to bed, packed his lunch and bag for school, did a load of laundry...) so now I am dragging a little bit. Super glad it's Friday, although we will still be busy. Tonight is the Homecoming Football game at DH's school, so we are going. Tomorrow we have T's gymnastics class at 9, and then we are meeting my boss and her kids at Jump Street at 1 so the kids can play. Sunday we are going to my ILs house for Sukkot....so yeah, busy weekend. What is everyone else up to.
Jina - good luck with the kiddos this weekend. Hope you are feeling a little better!
Jessica, I'm glad you are feeling better and didn't actually get super sick. I didn't even wake up until 10am today. My body is just exhausted. Now there's flash flood warning here starting tonight til tomorrow evening. Ugh! Just great! lol I usually love strong storms but I don't want to stress about flooding while we have the girls. Our neighborhood floods easily. There's a creek at the entrance of my neighborhood that floods when it rains hard to days and when that happens it's scary! It over flows on to the streets and the raging torrent is so strong that you could easily drown.
Sounds like it's going to be a fun trip for your DH! Perfect timing too since you'll be out of town as well. I hope you guys both have fun!
Alissa, I hope you're not getting sick! Are you feeling better today? Did T have fun heling your ILs decorate their sukkah for Sukkot (I googled it and I think it's so neat!).
Thanks for all the suggestions (you too Jessica!). It turns out that there's a Jump Street a mile from our house. I checked out their website and it looks like it's geared towards older kids. Do you think it'll be okay for a 23 month old and a 4 yo? There's also a Bouncy Playhouse place inside the mall which is only about a mile away too.
AFM, I'm so exhausted today. Blah....lol.
I'm freaking startving. I'm going to go seach for food! lol Be back later.
Jina - How scary about the flooding! I hope that you guys are safe and that your house doesn't flood. Keep us posted!
The Jump Street by our house has a special section just for smaller kids, and I think that would be fine for your neices. But you probably want to double check that yours has that same section before you go. Also, the special small kids section is mostly bouncy castles, so I'm sure that the bouncy castle place at the mall would be just as fun for them. I would do whatever is cheaper. :p
I am feeling a bit better today (my throat isn't as scratchy) although I am still tired. I can't imagine why we're so tired; it's almost like our bodies are hard at work building a whole other person or something.
I hope that you have a good weekend. You'll have to keep us posted on how it goes. What days do you have your neices?
Alissa, thanks. I'll call them later today to make sure they have a bouncy house area. I really don't want to take them inside the mall so I hope they do! If not...I guess Chuck E Cheese's might be fun...I think.
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Yeah...I have no idea why we're so tired. It must be something in the air or maybe the season changing or something. LOL
Originally I was going to take them Saturday and Monday but MIL doesn't want to me to wear myself out (she's very sweet) so I *think* only Saturday but we'll see how I feel. I don't want her to have to keep them that long. She doesn't sleep when she has them. She suffers from severe insomnia so she has to take sleeping pills every night but when she has the girls she doesn't take them. So she ends up staying up all night. Not cool.
Anyway, it sounds like you have a very busy weekend ahead! I hope you have fun. I think it's cool that you hang out with your boss!
AFM, I had half a grilled cheese and a cup of La Madeline's tomato basil soup and now I wanna barf. I feel unreasonably full.
I have to sweep and mop the house and make sure the inflatable bed is in working order. LOL...yes, I'm having them sleep on the inflatable bed because even though they are "potty trained" they still have accidents at night. I hope I'm not being mean but I really don't want them to ruin our mattress.
Jina - That's not called being mean, that's called being smart. LOL Also, kids love stuff like "sleeping on the 'special' bed." They won't mind at all, I'm sure.
Your MIL sounds super sweet. It is so great that you have such a good relationship with her. You hear stories about MILs that will curl your hair sometimes! My MIL is very nice too, which I am grateful for.
My boss is super cool, and her kids are around the same age as T (her daughter is like 1 year younger, and her son is like 2 years older) and they get along really well with T, so it's really nice to get them together.
I am also feeling unreasonably full, but I'm pretty sure that's a normal reaction to eating a Nachos Bell Grande from T Bell. Bleh, it sounded so good at the time, but now....am thinking I need to go for a long walk or something.
Alissa - thanks for the happy 13 weeks! I hadn't thought about it at all today! Well, you know...maybe once...twice...allday LOL. I had an interesting work day and then had super pregnancy brain afterwards, but Ill post on that when I'm not on my phone. Jina- hope you have a great time with your neices and Alissa- have fun this weekend with your plans! ....weeks certainly are flying by, everytime I turn around we are talking about what were doing this weekend... hope the whole pregnancy goes by this fast...lol
