Haha, yes, definitely won't help if you're just going to throw it back up. I remember when I took my test last time it made me really queasy and the nurse just kept saying "If you throw it up you're just going to have to drink another bottle and take it again..." Urgh....you do NOT want that; it tastes awful. If they give you the choice, ask for lemon lime flavor and see if they will refridgerate it for you. GD Lore suggests that cold lemon lime is the most tolerable flavor, but even that was pretty awful IMO.
I haven't heard anything about choices of flavors, I think I get orange?
I hate orange stuff anyway. Except soda, I like orange soda but ... anything uncarbonated? UGH
Doc office just called to make sure I knew about my appt tomorrow and I told her I wasn't gonna be able to do the glucose test tomorrow because of m/s. She said she didn't see me written down for a glucose test anyway, so that works out well.
My drs office does orange or lemon lime. Maybe if they refrigerated the orange it would be slightly better?
Glad you are able to skip it for now Jess. It would be awful to do with the m/s...I've never had to take the glucose drink when I was still in the throws of m/s. It would be early for you to do it anyway I think. Isn't that usually after about 24 weeks and see some doing it up to nearly 30 weeks?
Lynn, they're doing it early because I'm overweight, so they want to get it checked and possibly get it in control now, vs later.
But if my m/s keeps sticking around I'm gonna be 24 weeks anyway! LOL
So, I'm feeling rather bummed right now. Not sure why. My emotions have been crap for the past 2 days. But anyway, went to the doc today. The MW found the heartbeat immediately (she has the same doppler I have) it was about 140bpm, then preached at me for buying a doppler. She kept telling me the baby is so small and the placenta this and that..and she never gave me a chance to tell her that I had found the heartbeat already. Then she said I'm severely dehydrated and that I'm not eating enough protein. She said there was protein in my urine which means my body is breaking down muscle to use as protein for the baby. She followed that up with my weight is good (I'm still sitting at 16 lbs lost from the beginning of the pregnancy) and my BP was good. I scheduled my gender scan for Nov 20th. I opted out of my blood screening because I know I'd just worry about it and she said that the doc will look for abnormalities on the gender scan anyway. The whole appt was maybe 5 minutes long.
I guess maybe secretly I wanted another u/s. And I wanted her to fill my non-pregnancy related meds and she wouldn't, so now I gotta to another doc to get refills on something I've used my entire life. *sigh* A nap sounds good right now.
Alissa, we're going to paint the nursery Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore. Awww...how cool that T's getting a brand new big boy room and you get to keep the nursery as is. Glad you guys found a solution that works for everyone. :D I can't wait to see pics of everything (if you want to share)!
Happy 16 weeks and 1 day! Time is just flying by, isn't it?! I wish it would slow down a bit. lol
It's so awesome of you guys to help that kid out. Are you going to be driving him? Your DH is a good man and he's definitely a keeper for sure. :D
Jessica, glad you don't have to take the glucose test right now. I had to take the test a while back before I got pregnant and it was sickeningly sweet! I can't imagine trying to drink that stuff while suffering from m/s! Blech! I do have to take the test in 3 weeks but at least we get to have out 4d scan the same appointment so hopefully I'll be too distracted/excited to care. :)
Oh and ewww about the fish! That sounds really gross. I hope the smell is gone by now!
AFM, So...I kind of have a confession. During IVF and early pregnancy I gave up caffeine completely. Then in the second trimester I started drinking one or two diet cokes with splenda a week and maybe a cup of half-caff once a week as well. I've been so tired the past few weeks that I've been drinking 2 diet cokes a day and I feel sooooo guilty. I know that it's okay to consume up to 200 mg of caffeine a day and 2 diet cokes amount to only about 80 mg but I still feel so bad drinking this stuff every. single. day. :( I swear I'm going to stop! I drank one this morning and out of habit opened a second can and took one sip before I realized what I had done. I threw it away immediately! No more diet cokes for me! ~sigh~
Anyway, what is everyone up to today? I have to start packing for our weekend trip up to Dallas. We're going to the Texas State Fair. I've never been and I'm pretty excited. I promise to only eat one deep fried goodness while I'm there. lol We're staying in Downtown so hopefully I won't be too tired to be out and about after the Fair. I want to go have a nice dinner somewhere but I guess if I'm too tired from the Fair the hotel we're staying at has 4 or 5 nice restaurants to choose from. We're also going to check out the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. The place looks really neat! I also want to check out the Aquarium while we're there so hopefully we'll have time.
I made sausage stuffed zucchini boats last night and it was sooo freaking good. Not only was it super healthy but it was filling too! I'll post the recipe and pic on the recipe thread later. I also made shrimp fried quinoa and hot and sour soup the other day and it was super delish! Like, I didn't even miss the rice at all. The soup was even better than Chinese take-out. :D
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday! :D

Anyway, just try to drink lots of water and eat more protein and I'm sure everything will be fine. Yay for the gender scan! How exciting! Now I have you and Alissa to stalk that same week! I think it's a fun time to find out with Thanksgiving just a few days away. :D
Oh and sorry about the short appointment but I'm afraid they're just going to get shorter and shorter (except for the ones with u/s). My appointments are pretty short now too which is a GOOD thing. That means there's nothing really wrong and it's just a boring ol' routine appointment. :)
I hope you feel better soon. ((((HUGS))))
Jessica - I have to take the GD test at 22 weeks since I had it (GD) before. Bleh. So anyway, if you do end up having it, I probably will too, so we should hang out and swap recipes and food plans. LOL I'm sorry that you have been feeling kind of crappy lately. Darn hormones! I hope that you feel better soon. That's funny about your MW scolding you for buying a doppler. I think most doctors and mws say not to get them because they just make you worry if you can't find the hb. All in all, it sounds like a good appt! Yay for your gender scan next month! I am probably going to do mine that same week, so that's fun!
Jina - No I did not end up driving Denzel. The coaches didn't call yesterday, and we still haven't heard anything today, so I am guessing it will be Friday in which case DH can drive him. That's better anyway. I didn't mind driving him, but I don't know him very well whereas DH is close with him, so it will be nice for them to be able to talk. Luckily, he has a place to stay this week, so he's not out on the streets or anything. I just feel so bad for him; he has had very little stability in his short life and his family life is a hot mess (his so called step-dad one time shot him with a pellet gun as a punishment for something and he still has scars from it, if that tells you anything....) He is a really really nice kid despite everything he has been through; he deserves better than what he's had so far. UGGGGH, hormones! I'm all teary eyed now!
Anyway, I don't think you should feel too terribly about having 2 Diet Cokes. My mom jokes that she is surprised that I wasn't born with a 2 liter of Diet Doctor Pepper in my hand, since apparently that's all she drank when she was pregnant with me. LOL Of course, that was a different time. But still, yes, I have heard that anything under 200 mg a day is okay. I don't make it at home, but whenever I go to a restaurant I order an iced tea, and I usually have at least 2, so I'm violating the "no caffiene" rule myself. If you really feel bad, maybe limit yourself to one a day. :)
A trip to Dallas to go to the fair and the Botanic Gardens sounds like sooo much fun! How long are you going to be there? When are you leaving?
AFM - Did I tell you guys that I am going to be in FL from Oct 26-30th? We will spend Friday and Saturday in Sarasota for a family bat mitzvah. Then we are driving to Orlando to spend Sunday and Monday in Orlando at Disney World. I am super excited, mainly on T's behalf because I think he is going to have a wonderful time at Disney World.
Jina, I'm gonna come stay with you. The recipes you make sound amazing! State Fair's are so awesome! I used to go once a year with my dad in North Carolina and I had a BLAST. However, growing up overweight (he's overweight too), he wouldn't let me eat all the yummy goodness that the fair has to offer. I still had a good time there, but it was just.. unfair I guess. Especially since *now* (I say now, but I haven't been since I was like 24, I'm grown and still feel an aversion to eating around him.
Alissa - oh! How exciting! My boss has been to Disney World twice in the past two months, LOL. He fell in love with the place. I'm sure T will enjoy it. I've been once, when I was 8. I'm sure a lot has changed, but I had a great time! If we're going to tell on ourselves about caffeine - I'm worse than both of you. I'm a mtn dew junkie and I STILL drink it. Have I cut down? Yes. I don't go overboard and ONLY drink that now. I try to keep it under the 200 mg mark and usually I'm good. Mmm... it's so good though! But I'm so used to drinking that and only that, I think my tolerance for caffeine is super high LOL
