Alissa - I LMAO at your post. I didn't really mean the dogs would go snatch my ring off the table and chomp on it. I meant, sometimes there is food on the table and if it got mixed in with that, they may not realize what they're swallowing. And yes, my dogs are little...but not tiny, I'm pretty sure they could swallow my ring. And LOL about you not being able to swallow your ring (haven't tried). Bahahaha - I'm glad you haven't tried!
DH came home yesterday after working 11 hours and then he cooked dinner. He made fried chicken and french fries...and corn. Starch starch and starch. I was gonna rag him about not having anything green on the plate, but ....he put in the effort, so I left him alone. I couldn't eat all of it...and I threw up something afterwards, but it was more liquid than anything, maybe grease? I dunno. Anyway, he asked me if I had found my ring and I said no. I told him I had lifted up everything and moved everything around on the table and nothing. He bent over -lifted up his old Mtn Dew can, and bam! There are my rings. Whatttt? I may not have lifted up that can, but I could have swore I lifted up everything. But then I can't remember anything anyway, so maybe not. I was just happy to have my rings back!
I have my GD test today. I'm already pukey this morning, so... we'll see if I actually can manage to take it.
Jessica, holy cr@p! I'm sorry about the scare with the blood. That is so freaking gross...how in the world did someone get blood on the toilet paper roll?! I'm so glad it wasn't yours though.
Yay! So glad you found your rings! I would have been freaking out! Oh and glad your little dogs didn't eat them...LOL. ;)
Haha...if you lived closer I would totally come over and help you make some freezer meals. :D I'm more than happy to share my recipes with you if you decide to make some meals to freeze for when baby girl gets here. Oh and let me tell ya...it's torture cooking up all these meals and not being able to eat them. lol Oh and M claims that my nesting phase has started. I guess I have been doing nothing but cooking freezer meals for the last few days. I seriously have not left the kitchen...haha!
Hmmm....I would be a little leery of having a flaky friend host a baby shower for me too. Since your MIL offered to host the shower I would go ahead and let her but ask to have it at your house...or maybe at her house. Try not to stress out about it...in the end I'm sure everything will work out and you'll have a lot of fun. :D
Good luck with your GD test today!! Fingers crossed that you make it through and not puke! At least not until after the test!
Oh and it was really sweet of your DH to cook you dinner. :D Fried chicken sounds really good right about now! lol
Alissa, yeah, I'm sure once baby boy gets here and I'm dying of exhaustion, I'll be begging people to help me. lol I'm actually on the hunt for a (very) part time bi-lingual nanny/sitter. I'm not having much luck so I think I'm going to have to contact an agency. We don't have any family members that live close enough to ask for help so I think this is the best solution for us. Ugh! Just another thing to think about. I also have to call a pediatrician but I think I'll do that next month.
Glad the glucose test is over and done with. When do you get the results? I agree that 5 lbs in 4 weeks is no big deal. I was gaining a pound a week in my second trimester and now it has slowed down in the third trimester. Plus, your DH is a big guy AND this is your second pregnancy. I wouldn't worry too much about measuring ahead. If your doc is happy then you should be happy. :)
Mmmm....Subway....sounds good. I've been craving an Italian sub from Jersey Mikes so bad. I might have to have one soon! (Haha! I'm freaking obsessed with food! )
AFM, I'm going to be in the kitchen all day again today. I am allllmost done with my freezer cooking. I think 2 more full days and my stash will be complete! My freezer in the garage is pretty much full so I need to clean out the freezer in the kitchen to make room. Fun! lol
Jina, I didn't throw up LOL. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Glad you're almost done with your freezer meals! I haven't even thought about dinner tonight, much less dinner in 4 months! AHH! Even standing in the kitchen that long doesn't seem like something I can do. My kitchen is a lot bigger than the one I moved out of a few months ago, but for some reason I've managed to still hog all the counter space so we just have this little spot to do stuff on LOL
Happy 33 weeks!!
AFM, my test today wasn't horrible. I did get sleepy, but I'm hoping that's just because I sat around for an hour. Plus it's my nap time. I got feeling a little icky on the way home so I stopped and got something to eat... I was eating it VERY slowly because I wasn't sure how much stomach would handle it and it made me feel better, so I ate the whole meal. Dr. said I'm dehydrated, she thought about sending me down to L&D for fluid, but in the end, she decided not to. I think DH is mad though - like I'm not taking care of myself or something. Honestly, how much water do YOU ladies drink?? I'm also down another 3 lbs. She said she wasn't concerned with that because I'm already "heavy" so as long as the baby is growing, everything is fine. And the baby is growing, I'm measuring right on at 25. She did the doppler and it's always amazing how she can go right to it and it's all loud and stuff LOL I go back on the 16th of Jan for a 3D ultrasound, although I think they're just doing her face. It'd be awesome if I can see the whole body because I'd really like to be 100% that this is a girl. I keep staring at the u/s pic I have. I SO want it to be a girl, I just don't want a big surprise at delivery.
Jessica - Oh yay that you found your rings and you didn't have to sift through dog poop to find it. LOL How sweet that your DH made dinner for you last night! I laughed about all of the starch. My DH doesn't have a great concept of what is a veggie, what is a carb, what is a starch, either. My DH actually cooked dinner last night too, and he made mashed parsnips like mashed potatoes (I had never had parsnips before - they were freaking amazing!) AND risotto. Two starches. He was all proud. It was good, but I just ate very small portions of each.
I'm glad that you made it through your GD test. Did she say when she expects to have your results for you?
Jina - That's totally how I nested last time! I woke up on Sunday morning with a wild hair to make freezer meals, so I made a toooon of casseroles and whatnot on Sunday, worked all day on it, and then went into labor that night! Hopefully yours is a much slower process though. :) How is your nursery coming along?
We just got a Jersey Mike's up the the street from us. Are they good?
AFM - Well, I think Jessica already knows this, but my doctor called yesterday and....I failed my GD test. So I have to go on Friday morning to get nutrition counseling and get set up with a glucose meter. Bleh. Oh well; I had it with T and it's really not that bad. I am just hoping that I am able to control with diet this time too; I do NOT want to go on insulin. The one sunny upside to all of this is that I get to get an u/s once a month for the rest of my pregnancy. Looking forward to seeing my sweet boy. :)
Hope everyone is having a great day!
Jessica, yay! So glad you didn't throw up! lol I hope you pass the test with flying colors! :D I'm glad that you had a good appointment and measuring on track. Hehe...I think it's cool too how the OB just picks a random spot with the doppler and you can hear the h/b clear as day. I'm sure our babies our big enough that we don't have to put the wand at a specific spot to hear them. I haven't used my doppler since I started feeling Baby Boy at 17 weeks but maybe I'll try it later. As for water, I drink tons of water. Hubby and I are water guzzlers...we go through about 7-8 24 packs of bottled water a week. I drink about 20 or more bottled water a day which comes out to about 3 gallons a day...lol. We also drink other fluids on top of that, like, OJ, tea, soda and coffee. So...yeah....we drink (and pee) a lot! Haha!
Yay!! I can't wait to see pics from your u/s on the 16th!! I'm sure they'll check to make sure your little girl is still a girl. They checked at my 4d u/s. I'm going to have them check AGAIN when I get my u/s at 36 weeks. Like you, I really really want a boy and everything we have bought is for a boy so...yeah....I don't want any surprises! ;)
Alissa, haha...yeah....I hope I don't go into labor quite so soon. I would love to go early, like, any time after 37 weeks but ONLY if I'm done with everything and at this rate that's looking very unlikely. :( Our Nursery is coming along nicely. I think I'm about 80% done. I really need to find a lamp and a side table but I'm having a hard time. I also am trying to find the perfect curtains but it's proving to be impossible. I have some that I got from Urban Outfitters that will do temporarily but it's the not THE one...you know? We also need to hang the art prints, cut the rug pad to size, wash clothes and sheets and find some closet organizers. We have bought about 75% of the stuff we need for Baby Boy. I just need to buy all the feeding supplies, diapering supplies, a few random toys, books and knick knacks. Oh and a carrier. Hubby still needs to finish the left side of the closet but the right side is done so maybe I'll post a little sneak peak pic of Baby Boy's wardrobe. :D
Oh yeah...we also still have a lot of other business to take care of. We need to get with our attorney to set up a will. Up our life insurance policies, look into college savings plans, etc. Yikes...sooo much do to! :(
Is your DH on break yet? How's the nursery and T's room coming alog?
Jersey Mike's is okay...I just am not a huge fan of Subway (the one by our house sucks!) so I either go to Jersey Mike's, Quiznos, Thunderclouds or any other sandwich shop that's around. Haha!
I'm sorry your failed the test but yay for monthly u/s! Good luck at your appt. on Friday. I hope that you will be able to control it with a GD diet. I don't blame you for not wanting to go on insulin...ouch! If you were able to control it with T, I don't see why it wouldn't be the same with Rocket. :D
AFM, I'm taking a break from cooking today. I just need to make 2 more dishes and 6 more breakfast sandwiches and I'll be done!! Yay!!
I have a lot of laundry to do and I also have to clean the house. Remember the Christmas drama? Well, we are the ones compromising once again and are going down to MIL's to have Christmas dinner on Saturday. BUT, we are not exchanging gifts with anyone but our nieces. It turns out that BIL had plans to stop by our house on Christmas day. Um...when was he going to tell us this?! The only reason we found out was because M straight out asked what his plans are for Christmas day. Anyway, we told him that we weren't going to be at home and were going to be at MIL's and that he's more than welcome to come see us there. I guess he didn't like that and changed his tune and said he wasn't going to have time or whatever. I just don't get why he's planning on seeing everyone BUT MIL. He needs to grow up and get over this thing/grudge he has towards MIL. They've had problems since...forever. I dunno....I just know I'm tired of it and tired of having to make special arrangements for them. I swear this is the last year!! I said this last year too....
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day today! :D
ETA - Oh yeah, I found out yesterday that Hubby has accidentally deleted my 31 and 32 week belly pictures off the memory card! Ugh! I'm sooo freaking upset...I'm hoping that we can still recover the photos but now I feel like there's no point taking weekly pics when there are some missing! Waaaaah!
Jina, I had to pee just reading your post about 3 gallons of water a day! I'm just NEVER thirsty, so when I do drink something it's a sip. I don't like water and those flavor packets give me a headache (?). But anyway, I'm trying. Although you seem like you have a lot to do left in your nursery, it all sounds like fun, getting ready for baby stuff! I'm am SO bad about doing stuff I really want to do . For example, I LOVE cutting coupons and saving money at the store. But I'll sit and stare at the coupons for hours before cutting them, it's almost like I don't want to do it because then it'll be over and I'll be sad LMAO It even goes down into food: If there's something on a plate that I really really want, I save it for last. Which is kind of stupid, because sometimes by the time I get to that portion, I'm full. Haha, I'm a dork I know.
Alissa, I'm not sure when she'll get back to me with the results. In Feb, when I was having my tubal, I pretty much bombarded their phones until they gave me my BETA's. This time, I won't be calling. I don't really want to know. I know you've dealt with it before, but I don't give my thought to what I eat and I think it would take a mountain of willpower (which, I happen to have very little of) to not eat something. Like, I can't make DH something good and me eat something crummy. And I can't make him eat something crummy just because I have it. So, I dunno. I'm hoping it comes back good news because I think that'd definitely be a life changer for me. (On a plus note, all this "gotta have water" crap, has made my soda intake go down to one can a day. I wonder if that's why I keep losing weight? hmm..
AFM, My boss was freaking out today because the district manager was coming in sometime. He irks me when he gets like that, he's usually very laid back, but he was asking me all these questions (The back room is full of product and I'm responsible for about half of it)...to which I've already answered, but he keeps asking me anyway. I finally told him to go the freak away ...haha. That is one thing I like about him - I can be totally sarcastic around him, because he's like that with me. And it's funny because other people that I work with don't like him because he doesn't speak to them. At all. (Which, he really should..he IS the boss). Anyway, I managed to get out of there before the DM came in - if he even comes. He likes to scare us into cleaning I think LOL
DH made fried chicken two nights ago and the house still smells like it..and it's gotten into the clothes as well. EWWWW. I know that's random. Speaking of DH, he's been in a kind of funk lately. His last day of school was this past Monday until the 7th of January. So when he gets home early (which I'm still not used too), he sits on the couch and doesn't say a whole lot. I'm not sure if I'm just used to him coming home later and all the talking gets condensed into 30 minutes, whereas when he gets home on time, it's more strung out...I dunno. I keep asking him what's wrong and he keeps saying nothing. I try to keep doing things for him (I rubbed his feet last night...I HATE feet, and I really wish he'd rub mine...fixed him dinner, made him dessert).. I hope he's not rethinking the baby. I know I get on his nerves because I can never tell when I'm going to be sick and I'm sick ALOT (tummy wise). But it's not like I asked to be sick! I don't know, maybe it's just me overreacting.
Jina - Awwwww, sorry that M accidentally deleted your pictures. I think you should keep taking them though. After pregnancy you forget how big you get, and it's fun to go back and look.
Ugh about your BIL still being a butthead!!! Why is he so intent on "punishing" your MIL? She sounds like a sweet lady! Sounds like a ton of unnecessary drama to me. Fun, fun. LOL
That's awesome that you guys are so close to finished with the nursery, and that you are almost done with your freezer meals! Our progress is....nothing since last Friday. LOL! Last Friday I finished going through and doing everything I can do. The only thing left in that room is some furniture I can't carry by myself, and some things of DH's that I didn't know what he wanted to do with. So, now the ball is in DH's court. Starting on Monday he has the next two weeks off, and I am REEEEEAAAAALLY hoping that he gets pretty much everything done in those two weeks. He can be a procrastinator (which is why I wanted to do as much as possible ahead of time, so he didn't have a reason to lag...lol) but he usually buckles down and gets stuff done in the end, so I'm guessing nothing is going to happen until the week of New Years. LOL
Would love to see a sneak peak of Baby Boy's wardrobe! That is one thing that I need to work on myself, although I am going to wait until after Xmas to see if anything goes on sale. I need warm newborn clothes and swaddling blankets since T was a summer baby.
AFM - I'm actually kind of looking forward to my appointment tomorrow. I know that sounds dumb because I'm going to have to start testing my blood after tomorrow, but my thing is, once I know what direction I need to go in I would rather just go ahead and get started. I can handle anything but waiting around. LOL
Other than that, not much going on. Except, I have been sleeping like crap lately, so I'm super tired and sleepy now. Ugh, my hips hurt all night long, even WITH a super long pillow wedged between my legs. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Jessica - We must have been posting at the same time. I find that my DH often needs a bit of time in the evenings to decompress from the day (by doing something mindless like watching TV) for a little while before he's ready to be his usual awesome self. Is your DH just sitting around incommunicado for half an hour each night and then going back to normal, or is he being extra quiet all night long? I can't imagine that he's upset with you for being sick; who does that?!? LOL
As for having GD - I hope you don't have it because that's one less thing to worry about, but I promise if you do have it, it's not the end of the world, and doesn't mean that you have to eat crappy stuff. Promise! You can still eat normal stuff, you just have to watch your portions of carbs. So for example, last night DH made chicken and rice and asparagus. Something totally normal that we would eat anyway. The only thing I did any differently was that I measured out my portion of rice to make sure that I wasn't eating too much of it (which, trust me, was still a pretty healthy portion of rice, it's just that I love this particular rice and might be tempted to go over board if I didn't actually measure it) and then just ate more asparagus instead of more rice when I was hungry after my first portion. Or another example is that if you went to Wendy's, you could still get a burger, but get a salad instead of fries. Stuff like that. You don't have to eat anything weird, you just have to do portion control with your carbs. But hopefully you won't even have it, so you'll never even have to worry about it!
Jessica, I didn't used to drink so much water. I used to hate water! I was a diet Dr. Pepper junkie and would only drink a few cups of water a day, if that. I guess I decided to make some changes and completely cut out sodas/caffeine after going through a few miscarriages. I started guzzling water like crazy and didn't realize how dehydrated I had been. Now that I've "trained" my body to drink all this water I'm hooked. Plus, I just feel better. :)
Haha! I totally get what you mean about saving your favorite things for last. I totally do the same too. :D
I honestly doubt that your DH is annoyed with you getting sick or rethinking the baby. I agree with Alissa, I bet he just needs some time to decompress after work. Try giving him some space for a little while and I bet he'll be back to his normal self.
Alissa, I wrote out a long response to the drama but honestly it got a little too confusing...lol. I have no idea what their deal is...I just know that according to MIL, they've never really seen eye to eye. I've asked M about it and he said he has no idea but it started when BIL was in college. They have serious communication issues and I'll just leave it at that.
LOL...I'm sure your DH will get everything done. M is like that too...he'll wait til the last minute when it comes to chores and what not but he always comes through. I can't wait to see pics of the progress. :D
I wish I had waited to shop for Baby Boy's clothes...new stuff keeps coming out and I keep wanting to buy everything. I'm sure there will be crazy sales after Christmas. I HAVE to control myself and not buy anymore clothes no matter how tempting the sales are. :help1: LOL
Good luck at your appointment today. I can't wait to hear all about it.
I'm sorry about your hips. Have you thought about getting a pregnancy pillow? Or a support belt for your belly? I heard that those things help. I don't have hip pains but I keep waking up on my back and wish I had gotten a pregnancy pillow to keep be from sleeping on my back. I feel like it's a little too late to get one now...hopefully I only have a few more weeks to go. Anyhoo, I hope you find something that helps!
AFM, I'm off to the grocery store...again! I'm going to finish up my freezer cooking today. I still need to finish cleaning the house.
You know....I think the iron supplements are helping. I definitely have a lot more energy than usual. :D
I'll try to check back in later but just in case I don't get to -
Happy Holidays!!! I hope you guys have a wonderful Holiday and lots of fun with family and friends!!! :bigarmhug:
Jina, maybe you and Alissa are right. He used to have three hours between work and school to get his mind off of work and whatnot, and he didn't even call me until atleast an hour after he got off, so maybe he does need some "time". I find it funny though, because he tells me ALL THE TIME that he doesn't bring work home with him. But yet, he'll start talking about work on the phone and when he gets home..lol. I don't mind - sometimes (most times) I need to vent as well. Good luck on finishing your cooking!
Alissa, I failed my GD test :-( By 11 friggin points! I have to go take the 3 hour test on the 9th of January. She said since I was so close to passing, that I'll probably pass the three hour with no problem. I'm not looking forward to the fact that I have to go in, without eating and get my blood drawn every hour. I'm gonna be a total hungry ***** by the time it's done. I just hope I don't puke. Not eating for that long scares me. She said no food after midnight, so maybe I'll eat around 1155 the night before LOL
AFM, I had a seriously bad day at work. There's absolutely no communication between my bosses and my vendors. Then I get stuck in the middle. I wish they'd just talk to one another, so I wouldn't get yelled at by either side. I was SO heated this morning over an email my boss left me - I wanted to just walk out. I called DH (we talk every morning) thinking he'd make me feel better and he was running late for work so he was in a foul mood too. I think the convo this morning with him was mostly silence... LOL About 9ish, I felt better because I told my boss he was being a jerk and there's no reason to do that to me, when I'm just stuck in the middle. I said, if you want me to call someone or get someone in here, then fine. I have no problem doing that. But there's no need to be mean about it - especially to me. He kind of rolled his eyes and walked away, but he was better for the rest of the day.
I *think* DH gets his bonus check today. Last year it was only like 60 bucks, but he hadn't been there a full year yet. So hopefully this one will be more. He also gets a check for maintaining a good GPA in school, but I think that comes in like February. It'd be nice to get both of them right here at Christmas. I know he hasn't bought me anything yet. Last year he gave me a necklace and proposed to me (with a ring, not the necklace). I think he's kind of lost as to what to get me. He said he wasn't going to get me anything until after Christmas because he doesn't want to buy me anything someone else got me. I know this is going to sound horrible and very materialistic, but - I'd like to open *something* on Christmas, even if it was just a sweet card or something.
My mom is coming down this weekend. I might have to miss Christmas at DH's families house, but...it's my mom and I'd rather chill with her than his family anyway. Plus, I've been to every single holiday thing they've had since me and DH got together. I told DH and I don't think he's happy about it (although, he just found out he might be working that day anyway) but I think he understands. OH! Get this - my older brother told my mom that he's only off on Sundays. Mom said that works out perfect because I'm gonna go to Jess' house on Sunday, I'll stop and see you and give your presents and stuff on Sunday. Know what he said? "Well, I usually spend Sunday's at the bar with my buddies."
WHAT?????? He hasn't seen mom in almost two years and he's going to say something STUPID LIKE THAT? OMG. I just wanted to smack him!!
