Jessica - Well my my my, Miss FancyPants! You should keep the silver spoon on hand in the delivery room so your baby can be born with a silver spoon in her mouth (not sure exactly how that would work...something to do with the dr slipping the spoon in the mouth as it emerges....sorry, the more I think about it, the weirder the mental picture gets....)
Ugh, sorry that you had another miserable night, AND sorry that your MW thinks that it's your gallbladder and that you're going to have to eat super bland food to fix it. :(
That is really sweet that you MIL is already kicking into gear for your baby shower. Waaaaaaaay better than leaving the whole thing up to your friend. She just does not sound reliable.
Jina - Eeeeee! I know! I can't believe the 3rd tri starts tomorrow!
Everything crossed that the pedi you want can get you in. LOL about pre-schools being super competitive too. I watched a show about preschools in NY that take this complicated application process and interviews...it looks more stressful than anything I went through to apply for college! Both times! I hope that's not what you are up against; I think I would straight up crumple under the stress and just prop the kiddos up in front of Professor Sesame Street with some crayons to eat as a snack if I had to deal with that level of competition at a pre-K level.
LOL about picking the baby up by one foot!!!! You should have played dumb like "What???? This is how my parents always changed me, and I turned out fine!" LOL
AFM - Not much going on today. I got a Groupon to join the meal planning site "The Fresh 20." I'm pretty excited about it. Basically, you get 5 meal plans a week, along with a shopping list and nutritional info and recipes. Your shopping list is supposed to be 20 items or less (not including stuff they assume you have in your pantry, most of which is pretty basic stuff.) and the meals are supposed to take 30 minutes or less to prepare and get on the table once you do an hour a week of prep (chopping veggies, putting meat in to marinate, et cetera.) Everything is supposed to focus on being fresh and healthy and as little "processed food" as possible. I'm pretty stoked about it! I'll let you gals know how it goes. If I can really get 5 healthy meals on the table a week with 20 ingredients or less and 30 minutes a night of cooking (plus my 1 hour a week of prep work) then I am all over that!
Hope everyone is having a good Monday!
Jessica, sounds like you had a really rough night and day! I'm sorry you're in so much pain...that really sucks. Did the nurse ever call you back? I hope you're feeling much better today. Okay, after reading Alissa's response, it looks like it might be a gall bladder issue? Ugh! I'm sorry you're having to deal with that...hopefully your doctor can come up with a treatment plan so that you won't have to be in pain anymore. :(
Yeah, I wasn't sure if the birthing/newborn class was really going to teach me anything but it turned out to be very informative. I'm glad I got to learn a few breathing techniques to help me cope with labor pains. Also, knowing when to go to the hospital is nice too. I also learned a few surprising things, like, I had no idea we weren't supposed to use baby powder. Oh and that it wasn't recommended that we swaddle at night due to higher risk of SIDS (though, I'm pretty sure she just meant do not use regular swaddling blankets). And some other things I have now forgotten...lol. I took a lot of notes and picked up a baby care book at the bookstore the other day.
I think a pink and white rug would be adorable! You don't need to go all out and paint and all that. I wouldn't want to set up a full nursery either if I was planning on moving. I bet once you get the crib set up with some cute bedding and a rug and maybe a lamp the nursery will be really girly and adorable. :D
Awww...sounds like your MIL is super excited. So cute that she's already buying stuff for the shower. I'm sorry your friend is acting like that. Maybe you could just tell her that your mom and MIL have it under control but if she wants to come help set up and clean up on the day of the shower you would really appreciate that. This way, she still feels involved but if she flakes out it's not the end of the world and won't really ruin your shower....you know?
Alissa, Happy 3rd trimester!!!! :yahoo::yahoo:
I'm actually really nervous today waiting for the pedi's office to call back...lol. I have this sinking feeling that they're going to tell me no. Ugh! I know the documentary you're talking about. I watched it too...lol. It's certainly not that bad here but, yeah, the (desirable) preschools around here have crazy wait lists.
Oooh, I saw that Groupon and was going to buy it then I totally forgot about it. You'll have to tell me how you like it. I'm pretty good with meal planning but I have a feeling it's going to get harder with a baby around. I wonder if the Groupon is still going on? I'm gonna go check.
AFM, I'm going to attempt to paint my toenails today. I was able to paint them 3 weeks ago but I think I'm much bigger now so we'll see. I might have to run out and get a pedicure today...haha.
It's a very gloomy and rainy day today and I love it. I'm going to continue doing baby laundry and try to have a relaxing day. I might even read a book! :D
I hope you are all having a good day so far!
Jina, yeah the nurse called me back finally and said I need to avoid eating high fat food (like ground beef) because my gallbladder can't keep up. However, the more I read about gallbladder on Dr. Google, it SOUNDS like once it starts messing up - it's all downhill from there. Pregnancy slows your gallbladder down anyway and stones can form because of the stuff in the gallbladder just sitting there. The stones then get "stuck" in the exit of the gallbladder and that causes pain. When the food is finally digested, the gallbladder relaxes - easing the pain. I HOPE mine is just pregnancy related and not that I have to have it taken out. If I do have to have it removed, they won't do it until after the baby is born. I don't have pain EVERY night, but it hurts really bad and I don't want to go through that for three more months. So, when she told me that, I have eaten nothing but salad and crackers LOL I hadn't even thought a lamp - or a small nightstand. That would be nice though - because then I can sit in the glider and have a small light and somewhere to put stuff. Thanks!
Alissa, YAY!!! :yahoo: 3rd Trimester!!!
AFM, this is going to sound a little stupid, but.. I'm going to go pee. I think I'll collect my pee in a cup and see if it's dark LOL. I have the three hour glucose test tomorrow (ugh) and I know they're going to test to see if I'm dehydrated. I'm always dehydrated, but I've been drinking a ton of water (sometimes, my insides get to feeling like they're going to burst from so much water!). Okay - not a TON, but way more than I've ever drank before. Somebody at work told me I looked chubby today. I was like..uh, well, I'm almost 7 months pregnant. Then they rubbed my belly...? What is with people rubbing my belly? Do I look like Buddha? OH and I'm getting irritated at people asking me when I'm due. Not initially, when they first ask I'm okay with it. But two days later, So...when are "we" expecting? (that drives me mad too, what's this "we" BS?).. and then two days later, so, when are you having the baby? Two days later, so... OMG stop asking me! If you aren't going to pay attention the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time then just stop trying to make conversation with me.
Man, I sound like I'm in a super mood. LOL
Jina - Here is the link to the Groupon deal if you are interested. I sent it to a friend of mine yesterday, so I had it on hand in my email.
The Fresh 20 Deal of the Day | Groupon Denver
Looks like you have 12 hours left to make a decision! LOL
I left work a little early yesterday and hit up the grocery store (I think in total I spent like $120 which is not bad for us for 4 nights worth of dinners - I swear I never get out of the grocery store for less than like $30 for one meal plus all of the rando stuff I end up with - plus I also bought some other things that I just needed.) So I don't know if I would call it "on a budget" like the site advertises, depending on how much you are used to spending, but it wasn't bad either - about right with what I am used to spending. Then, I went home and pre-prepped all of the veggies that I am going to use for the rest of the week. That did take about an hour as advertised. I was so proud of myself - I even roasted my own red peppers for tomorrow night's roasted red pepper sauce. La di dah! I put everything in baggies labeled by the recipe number, so I should be able to just grab them and go. Looking over the recipes, I agree that having all of that stuff done will mean that I probably shouldn't spend more than about a half an hour on dinner each night because the most time consuming stuff would have been the chopping. So I'm psyched to have the rest of the week's worth of dinners partially prepped and ready to go. This week we're having an Italian Polenta Mozarella Bake with a spinach salad, Salmon with a roasted red pepper sauce and parmesan cannellini beans, Peasant Bean Stew, and Greek Chicken. We got another day's worth of recipes (Twice baked pizza potatoes and sauteed garlicy kale) but the 4 first four were enough to get me through the rest of the week, Sat we have dinner out with DH's parents, and anyway, baked potatoes are kind of carby for me. So I decided to skip that one. Other than that, they all sound really good to me, and they fit really well into my GD diet, so I'm pleased. I'll let you know how the rest of the week goes!
LOL about maybe not being able to paint your toes. I think being 36 weeks pregnant is a PERFECT excuse to get yourself a pedi! I hope you have a relaxing rest of the day. :)
AFM - Ugh, I thought that we had a name picked out, but DH told me last night that he is "not a fan" after all (NOT what he said before) so it's back to the drawing board...I swear this child is going to be one of those that doesn't get a name for like a week after he's born. LOL
Jessica - Oh man, I feel so bad for you about having to really limit your diet like that. I hope hope hope that you don't have GD too - limiting carbs AND fat would totally suck. The upside of limiting my carbs is that I can pretty much have all of the meat, cheese, and eggs that I like. I am pretty confident that you'll pass though. You said you were only 11 points high, which isn't bad at all. I think I told you before on our BB, I tested 61 points high () on the 1 hour and mine seems to be the kind that you can pretty much control with diet and exercise, so it's not even that severe. I bet you are going to be fine. Good luck tomorrow though. I'm sorry you have to go through that; it's not fun.
LOL about collecting your pee in a cup.
Who tells a pregnant lady that they look "chubby"?!? OMG people are dumb.
Jessica, even though it sucks I'm glad you at least know what's causing you pain and there is a way to control it. I hope you don't have to have surgery and that it goes away after you have baby girl. Mmm...I love me some salads! lol I seriously could live off of salads for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy. :D I have some really yummy salad recipes if you tired of your recipes and need some inspiration. :)
WTF?! Why in the world would someone call a pregnant woman chubby?! Wow, you work with some serious jerks! I hope it wasn't the same person who keeps telling you that you should have kept your legs closed. :pissed:
I get kind of tired of those questions too but the one that bothers me the most is the gender question. People ask if we know what we're having and I say yes, it's a boy! and women always seem disappointed...
Alissa, thanks for the link. I bought it yesterday but I don't think I'm going to activate it until March or April. I still have plenty of meal ideas and plans for the rest of the month and I have tons of food in the freezer for when Baby Boy gets here. I'm pretty excited to try it though. I think 120 is awesome for 4 meals! I seriously spend about 230-250 every week at the grocery store. That's just for 3 meals, snacks and drinks so if the new meal plans will save money then that's freaking awesome. :D I also like that you do the prep work ahead of time so the actual cooking time is only about half an hour or so. I usually spend about an hour or more cooking dinner and I know I won't be able to do that once I have a crying baby look after. So, yeah, I'm pretty excited and glad that you like it so far and for only 24 bucks, what a deal! lol
I didn't get a pedi yesterday. Turns out I can still reach my toes fine...haha!
Sorry your DH is being difficult about names. We've had 2 names picked out for months and haven't really discussed it further. We're going to wait until we meet Baby Boy before deciding....hopefully we'll agree on a name. If not, we might be coming home with Baby Boy No Name. LOL
AFM, I've been doing baby laundry for the past few days and geez...he sure does have a lot of stuff. I just have one or two more loads and I'll be done. I've been looking for the perfect yellow throw blanket for the glider and I thought I finally found one at Nordstrom so I ordered it but when it came yesterday the color was puke yellow and not bright yellow. Ugh! The search continues....I feel like I'm running out of time..lol. I'm still waiting for a few more things to show up that I ordered...I hope they come before Baby Boy does.
Anyhoo, hope you guys are having a good day today. I'm off to do some laundry! ;)
Jina - I'm probably going to end up having to make something for me and then make something for DH. For instance, he can eat hamburger every night. He's a big beef eater. I, however, like chicken the best. He doesn't like chicken except MAYBE once a week. He HATES salads (unless it's potato salad! LOL).. so I dunno what I'm going to do. I suppose I'll find out my results either Friday or Monday of next week. I already am tired of cooking dinner every night, cooking two dinners would suck even more. I hear you on the gender question. When people ask me what I'm having and I say a little girl... I either get 1. Oh god, another Jessica. (and to be quite honest and egotistical - I'm a pretty awesome person. I'm super nice, I'm always going out of the way for others and I'm super smart, so more Jessica's would be great in my eyes) or I get 2. Oh. Tim probably wanted a boy? To which I have to say Tim never TOLD me what he wanted except he wanted a healthy child. Then they TELL me Tim wanted a boy and then I want to smack them. Always. Haha.
Alissa, it would suck to have to change my diet so drastically, but I'd do it. I have zero willpower, but if it was for the baby I know I'd be able to change. And yes, people at my job make stupid comments daily. Some lady walked up to me yesterday and asked if I could help her send an email. SEND AN EMAIL??? Seriously? She's the manager of her dept and doesn't know how to email???? So, I showed her how, but it was a good thing I showed her because when I was standing there, she misspelled EVERYTHING. That's a huge pet peeve of mine. So I fixed it. Anyway, that was random.
AFM, DH got kind of mad at me last night. Everything I said was met with a "well, actually" or "not necessarily" and it was really annoying me. So I said do you always have to contradict whatever I say? He said sorry, I'll just stop talking. I said that's not what I wanted, and he said he was just going to give me the right answer and that I always correct his grammar. Thing is, we were talking about my mom...there was no clear yes/no answer, it's just everything I said he wanted to argue with. UGH. But I guess he knew he pissed me off because he rubbed on my knee after a minute or so. I made beef stew in the crock pot yesterday. I think my crock pot is broken. I had it on high for 4 hours, then turned it to low over night, so that was another 8 hours and the veggies STILL aren't done. I mean, they're getting there but sheesh. They'll be done for tonight though, so I don't have to cook! Yay!
Hope you ladies are doing well
Jina - I remember doing all of that laundry before T was done. I haven't started yet this time because we don't have the room done yet so I don't really have a place to put all of those clean clothes, but I remember that from T. And then you think "how many outfits and blankets and burp cloths can one tiny baby need, but you'd be surprised. I think T went through about 5 onsies a day when he was brand new (until I figured out you have to tuck the penis down when you change the diaper), plus untold burp cloths. It sounds like you are soooo close to being all ready! That is AWESOME! It will be nice to be able to just put your feet up and know that everything is all ready whenever Baby Boy is ready.
Haha, I would be happy if we could have it down to two names, but at the moment we can't even agree on one. LOL! Oh well, I know we'll get it figured out. I'm just disappointed because I really thought we had it, and I had sort of started to think of Little Guy with that name.
Jessica - Don't you love those dumb little spats that are pretty much over nothing? I think all couples do that sometimes - so annoying. LOL I love their way of resolving it too, like realizing (belatedly, of course) that they went too far, and then trying to "feel you out" by rubbing your leg or making jokes or whatever, while you just sit there and stare at them like "Oh NOW you want to be sweet." LOL Hope you guys are better now.
In 2013, WHO doesn't know how to send an email???? My GRANDPA (who is like the least tech savvy person on the planet) knows how to send an email! LOL That's too funny.
AFM - Yay, I'm going to get an u/s today! One of the only perks of having GD is that I get to see Little Guy every month because they are doing monthly growth u/s. I hope they give me pictures. If so, I will post them when I get home. :)
Hope everyone is having a great day!
Jessica, I hope you get good results on Friday. I'm sure it'll be much harder to cook 2 different meals every night. Maybe you can make your meals ahead of time? Like, cut up bunch of veggies (or whatever you like to snack on) all ready to snack on and make tuna or chicken salad with light mayo or just lemon juice and keep it in the fridge so you can make quick sandwiches. Also make a giant pot of soup and portion them out and keep them in the freezer or maybe make something in the crock pot that you don't mind eating a few times a week. I think the key is to eat the same meals over and over again to make things easier. Or just tell your DH too bad and he's going to eat healthy with you!
Sorry you and your DH got into a mini argument. I agree with Alissa, all couples have spats...I would think it was weird if they didn't ever argue. M and I gripe at each other and get into silly little arguments that we get over in like half an hour or so...lol. So silly!
LOL@ having to help someone send an email! Wow...what rock has she been living under?!
Mmm....beef stew! Enjoy your dinner tonight! :D
Alissa, haha! Yeah...I was told about the pointing the penis down and that baby boys pee when cold air hits their privates. LOL Lots to look forward to!
Yay! Good luck and have fun at your u/s today! Awwww....I can't wait to see a pic! :D
AFM, guess what ladies?! I got an appointment with the pediatrician!!! BUT, it's ONE week before my due date...Hahahahaha! I hope Baby boy stays put until AFTER the consultation because he is not accepting new patients until you've had a prenatal consult. I'm so glad I kept calling back...they managed to squeeze me. Phew...I feel a little better now but only slightly. I don't think I'm going to be able to relax until after the appointment.
Jina, glad you got an appt with the pedi! I sure do hope baby boy stays in there, but I'm sure he will and it won't be a problem! Is that the norm, that a pedi won't see you without a prenatal appt? I should think that would drive the number of people eligible for his office way down. I like the idea of having ready meals for myself...that would definitely cut down on cook time for dinner for DH. MW said earlier that I need to eat more protein and DH hounds me about eating meat with my meals now...but I don't want the meat! Maybe I'll eat peanut butter or some beans or something, even though the only "bean" I like is green beans..lol
Alissa, yes we WERE fine. *sigh* Okay - very quickly: Mom has dads old car. He gave it to her so she could give HERS to my older brother. That was many moons ago. Well, it's now residing at my house because Tim's car broke down. Tim's a mechanic, he can fix it, but doesn't have the money. Moms car (which is dads old car and also a camry so that's what I'm going to call it from now on) has transmission issues. Somehow, mom talked to dad and they're both going to go halfsies on fixing the Camry for Tim to drive. (My dad is very well off, but it still surprised me that mom asked him to do that). ANYWAY, before we knew it was going to get fixed, Tim had taken the transmission out..or atleast pieces of it..then he slashed his finger at work so he couldn't work on the car. So, dad got it towed to the shop where they are going to replace the transmission. Well, the guy got here to tow it at the same time Tim called from work, right before he had to go to school. The guy expressed some concern on driving through the back yard (it's a field) and Tim was getting mad on the phone saying he could drive that truck through the field (meaning, TIM could drive it) so I got him off the phone because he was stressing me out. I told the man that our neighbor has an 18 wheeler that he drives back there, so I'm sure the ground is hard enough to hold his tow truck. So, he turns on the car and puts it in neutral and gets it towed and gets out of here. I called Tim back, who wanted a step by step journey of the tow man. I told him he turned on the car and he starts yelling! What a dumb@$$! What a stupid idiot! Why'd he turn on the car?? I'm thinking to myself, he's just here to tow it, he's not from the actual shop, so he doesn't know what's wrong with it, he thought he'd be able to back it up right to the truck. (which, in retrospect IS kind of dumb, if we could drive it, it wouldn't be getting towed).. so anyway, I screamed back at him that none of this is my fault and he needs to stop yelling. Which he did..and then I told him something leaked out. He said yeah, transmission fluid. Then he goes on to say he hoped no one found it. I know coolant has to be collected and can't be dropped on the ground, but I have no idea about tranny fluid. But he acted like our landlord is going to find it. So then I got all mad again and told him bye. I love that man, but he sure does do everything half@$$ed and then get mad at others for doing the same thing.
Sorry this is so long, just needed to vent.
