Jina - What an adorable little outfit!!!! And may I just say that you are very smart about it. With T's coming home outfit, I picked these really cute overalls and and a onesie, but then once I was there and had him I realized that I really didn't want to put him in anything with buttons like the overalls because I just wanted him to be comfortable. That outfit looks cozy and comfortable, and just perfect for bringing him home in. :)
Haha, NO, it has NOT been warmer than usual here. It has been FREEZING here lately. I was watching the news this morning as I was getting ready for work, and they said that it was -5F and -23F with windchill. We've been in a really cold front; the high yesterday was 17F. Thankfully, the cold front is breaking this week. Today it is supposed to be a high of 32F (it's 22F right now) and I think the high is predicted to be in the 50's by the end of the week. We're ready for that; this negative 23 nonsense is for the birds.
I love that you are still making freezer meals: you are never going to have to cook again! Baby boy will be starting pre-school, and you'll still be pulling things out of the freezer. I think you're nesting, big time!
Lynn - I'm sorry that you are sick and that the exhaustion is just now starting to lift. I hope that your energy level starts going up soon and that you start feeling really good for the rest of your pregnanancy. Are you going to find out what you're having?
Send my condolences to your DH about the Broncos. I really thought we had a good chance of going to the Super Bowl this year. :(
Jessica - I'm glad that you got more sleep last night. That is very kind of you to not want to disturb your DH's sleep. I've never really been one of those that says "If I have to be awake so does he!" either, although I'm not considerate enough to sleep elsewhere or anything like that. :)
I'm sorry that your friend is not being a good friend to you, and that you foresee it getting worse. Hopefully she will get her head out of her rear and realize that it's possible (and even preferable!) to have a life AND a boyfriend all at the same time. I'm sure it's a bummer to have your friend kind of flaking out on you; that's always such a disappointment.
AFM - I went to the doctor for a general OB appointment today, and everything went well for the most part. I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead, and when I went to the perinatologist last week they said I had a high amount of fluid which is common in diabetics, but now they are worried that Rocket will get too big so they are talking about inducing me at 39 weeks if I don't go on my own before that. I really don't want to do that because I know that if they put me on pitocin I'm going to probably break down and ask for the epi again, and I also don't totally trust the epi since it didn't work too well last time. Plus the epi slowed down my labor, and I really don't want to risk having a c-section if it's at all avoidable. So that, along with the fact that my blood sugars have been out of whack for the past couple of days, and I'm kind of stressed out. But, I guess I just have to keep doing the best I can, and see what happens, and push back on being induced as much as is medically advisable. Bleh.
Alissa, that sucks about your being induced without you really wanting too.. and at 39 weeks? As I've said many times before, I'm not a doctor, but if they were really concerned about too big of a baby, I should think they'd induce you at 37 weeks. 39 seems kind of funny to me, like..why not just make it 40 and let you go into labor yourself? I dunno, maybe a week does a lot of changes that I'm not aware of. I can't believe we're gonna be at 30 weeks next week. Ho-ly crap!
I do hope you get your GD in check. I hope something is making it go up like that..that maybe you haven't thought about (it was those two bites of dessert you bad girl!!).. so you won't have to go on meds. However, going on meds is for your good and the babies good. *stepping down off of high horse* (((HUGS))) Don't stress!! You're doing just fine!
Thanks Jessica! I was thinking that maybe it's the antibiotics I'm on because of my spider bite. I emailed my doctor yesterday to ask if that could do it, but haven't heard back (which makes me crazy. That's pretty much my whole job is answering emails and I make it a priority to get back to my clients ASAP, so I can never understand when someone takes days and days to get back to me about a simple question via email. lol) We'll see. I'm still on the antibiotic (I think I get off on Friday or Saturday) but my blood sugar was reasonable last night after dinner and this morning when I first woke up, so maybe things are getting back on track No clue.
I know, I can't believe we're almost 30 weeks either! It seems to me like 30 weeks is basically due already. LOL It's exciting that we're here, but it's also kind of intimidating too. I still have to finish setting up the nursery, wash all of the clothes and blankets that we're going to need, COME UP WITH A NAME, drag all of our baby gear out of the basement (car seats, bassinette) and finalize my maternity leave. Oh, and maybe make some freezer meals, if I have time and want to. It feels like time is really speeding up now. How about you Jessica? What's on your to do list?
My to do list.. hmmm... I'm not overly concerned about freezer meals, although they'd be nice to have when the time comes I'm sure. Since I don't have ANYTHING for the baby, once I have the baby shower I'll arrange what I have and go through that - wash it and what not. I asked DH last night if he knew what his mom was getting us for the baby shower and he said he has no clue. I really think I'm going to end up with a whole bunch of clothes, diapers and pacifiers. I HOPE someone steps up and buy us one or two of the big things because DH and I simply can't afford going out and buying everything at once.
Jessica, you should keep a watch on Craigslist and look for consignment sales around your area. They are usually once a season spring and fall. I always go to Just Between Friends and get the boys clothed for a season. Another big one is Jack and Jill. There may also be some FB resale groups you can watch to buy locally. You can get great stuff for a much reduced price if you keep on eye on places like that and grab the good deals quickly. Babies really don't "need" all the suggested gear and gadgets and don't have to be so expensive if you're willing to buy second hand. :)
ETA just to clarify...the consignment sales will have tons of baby gear, furniture, toys, etc too. I just usually do the clothes. You need to go on the first day though to have the most options.
Lynn - I agree! I bought a ton of baby clothes for T at a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) sale at my parent's church last time. I have asked them to let me know when the next sale is. Babies barely use their clothes, so it's easy to find used clothing in good condition and save a little bit of money.
Jessica - Waiting for the shower makes sense. Hopefully you will get most of what you need then anyway, or else a bunch of checks and giftcards so you can buy it yourself. I'm betting that my coworkers just get me a Target giftcard before I go on leave (that's pretty much the norm for everyone who gets married or has a kid - potluck lunch and a gift card) so I'm waiting for that before I buy anything else really.
Jina - How are you feeling, hon? Still super tired?
AFM - Oh my gosh, we are going to an information session about T's KINDERGARTEN CLASS tonight!!!! How can my sweet baby be getting ready for Kindergarten???? I'm excited to see the school and meet some of the teachers and admin.
I talked to my GD doctor again today because I'm really frustrated about my glucose readings (and worried that high glucose is hurting the baby.) The PA said she didn't think the antibiotics were causing it (which drives me crazy because seriously, what else could it be???) so she is going to show this week's sh*tty numbers to the doctor and then let me know if they're putting me on medication. I was seriously so frustrated this morning I was in tears, so I'm glad that they are doing *something* and that I have her attention. Before we were playing phone tag and she left me a couple of voicemails saying "Oh, they're not so bad" but that's because she wasn't understanding me that I was talking about this week's numbers, specifically (which she hadn't seen yet because I send them to her once a week on Mondays) and that pretty much every meal has been over. I read them off to her over the phone this morning, and that finally got her attention that yes, they are bad, and I need help because it's stressing me out, royal. At least I feel better now that I finally connected with her, and they are actually figuring out a plan of action for me. If I have to go on medicine I do; that is better than flailing along by myself and not being able to control it anyway. <end rant>
Lynn, thanks for the advice, I'll keep a look out! I've had my nerves stretched really thin today, I'm surprised I made it through my whole shift at work. Thankfully, none of it was work related so I didn't have to chew anyone out today. I've mentioned my dad and mom paying to get the Camry fixed so Tim can drive it. Well, we got it back yesterday. It goes in reverse now! Yay! Haha. But, on the highway it runs at about 4000 RPM's, which is really high. It should be around 2500. The overdrive isn't turning on - it needs a new computer apparently. It's 800 bucks for the shop to do it, so Tim said he'd look for one in a junkyard and put it in himself. Tim's good with things like oil changes and whatnot, they aren't a problem, but when he gets to something that's more complicated, he usually gets really mad and breaks something ELSE on the car (not on purpose!) and I really don't want him doing that with this car. But he can't go an hour away, all highway, to work on 4000 RPM's... even I know that's not good for the engine. So he might drive MY car, while I drive the Camry and I'm super sad about it. I've got a Mustang that I ADORE, I've had it nine years now and I still love it like it's brand new. Tim drives very aggressive, he stays on people's @$$, he just... well he sucks as a driver and my precious precious car is going to be in his hands? AHHHH
Jessica, it sounds like your "friend" is obsessed with her boyfriend. How long have they been together? Is the relationship pretty new? Hopefully she'll step up and come help you clean and get ready for the baby shower. Maybe it's time to phase her out of your life? I know it sucks to have to even contemplate ending a friendship but it really seems like she's just too selfish to be a good friend to you. ((HUGS))
I hope your u/s went well. I'm going to go stalk your BB in a bit to see if you posted pics! :D
I think consignment shopping is a great idea. Also, it might not be a bad idea to set aside some money each paycheck to buy baby things when the time comes. I've also heard that some people go buy gift cards every time they go grocery shopping to buy diapers with later. I'm sure everything will be fine. You still have plenty of time. I felt like I was quickly running out of time but I'm pretty much done buying everything and I still have a week or two to spare. ;)
I'm sorry about the car. I hope you can get it fixed soon so Tim doesn't have to drive your baby...lol. My first car was a mustang and I LOVED it. :D
Lynn, I'm sorry you've been dealing with nausea still but glad to hear that you're starting to feel better and even getting some energy back. Ahhhh! So excited about your big u/s! What time is it?! I need to know so I can stalk you properly.
Yep, my last u/s was a while back. Time has flown by....crazy! I'm really looking forward to being a mom to a son. I'm totally ready for a momma's boy...lol. Ahhhh! Can't wait!! :yahoo:
Alissa, Holy crap! -23 F  I would DIE. Seriously. Hopefully it's a lot warmer for you guys today!
Haha...yeah...I just made another freezer meal today. I'm totally nesting right now. I deep cleaned both bathrooms (meaning I also went through all the drawers and cabinet and threw away a ton of stuff that I haven't used in a while)and made mac n cheese with kielbasa to freeze. I'm itching to go clean out the pantry right now...I think I'm going to go do it as soon as I'm done with this post. LOL
I'm sorry that you might have to be induced. :( I'm really not looking forward to being induced either but whatever is best for baby, right? I really hope the doctor has some answers for you even if it's putting you on medication. Will that help and lower your chances of being induced? ((HUGS)) I'm sure this is really stressful. I really really really hope you get some positive news and a plan of attack when the doctor calls back.
AFM, I've been cleaning, packing and cooking like a mad woman. I'm also taking my niece to an art studio class tomorrow. I might even take her for a mani and pedi and then take her out to dinner. I'm really looking forward to spending some one on one time with her before Baby Boy comes. Hopefully I won't be too worn out tomorrow...
Sorry....I thought I had a ton to say but now I'm feeling too anxious to think. Ever since my OB told me that I would be getting induced, I've been having a really hard time concentrating. I'm waaaay too anxious and my mind is going a million miles a minute with things I need to do! Ugh! lol
I hope you guys have a good evening!!
Jina, sounds like you are definitely in major nesting mode. I'm a bit jealous...don't know if it's because I've had both my kiddos on the early side or if my nester is just broken but I've never experienced that nesting phase. I hope you enjoy your time with your niece tomorrow. Sounds like tons of fun! :)
Jess, you're welcome. I'm going to be spending some time on Craigslist soon myself. I need a convertible carseat for my DS2 and I would like to pick up a cosleeper to try this time too. I would also be happy with a bassinet if I come across a good deal. I need skinny carseats so I can fit 3 across so that might be a bit tricky having to be picky and shop second hand. I guess I'll just have to see. I hope you can get the car situation worked out soon. My first car was a Mercury Cougar...not the big one, the sporty one they only made for a few years. Anyway, loved that car and had to sell it when DS1 was on the way b/c no carseat would fit in the back with the major bucket seats it had. I bought it new and it was 9 yrs old when I sold it. So sad:(.
Alissa, sorry you are stressed with your blood sugar. I hope they can help you get things sorted out quickly even if it does mean taken meds. :bighug:
My u/s is 2:30 eastern time. I'll update as soon as I can. I'm off all day Monday, well as long as I can finish up some things at work tomorrow, so I should be able to update soon after. I have not been so worried since my 14 wk appointment but I think seeing baby healthy on Monday will finally make me feel relaxed and ready to fully plan for baby. I'm excited to find out what we are having this time and start thinking seriously of names and all the other planning for how to fit this new addition into our family. :D
Lynn, LMAO @ your nester being broken. That made me LOL. I know I won't be the only one who's super sad about having to relinquish a car, but that car was my graduation gift from college and.. I dunno, I've just had it so long. I *think* it'd be different if I knew we were selling it, but I'm gonna HATE having Tim drive it because he's so friggin aggressive on the road. I actually felt kind of better yesterday because I talked with my dad (who originally bought the car) and he said he'd be okay with Tim driving it. Granted, it's not my dads car, but..since he bought it I felt like .. I dunno..whatever LOL Good luck with your ultrasound! 18 weeks already, geez girl slow down! haha
Jina, (((HUGS))) don't get anxious, get excited!! I'm excited for you, probably enough for the both of us anyway :-) I can't believe you're still cooking! And cleaning! How long have you been "nesting" now? I'd like to get my hopes up that a huge phase will hit me so I can clean everything. I'm really horrible at posting u/s pics, but when I do I'll post one on the pic thread here so you don't have to search me out :-)
Alissa, I'm glad your doc is finally listening to you about your GD. I hope you can get it under control, meds or no meds. I know they're high numbers for you, but atleast they aren't like...astronomical. Does that make you feel any better? I bet not...haha. And wow about T starting Kindergarten! Is he excited? Do you think he'll handle it okay? I know he's in school right now, but is yours an all day thing? I know here they can go for 4 hours at some places and all day at others.
AFM, what the heck have I done? I lost my drivers license over a month ago. I just figured it'd be in my car (it's a hot mess), but I cleaned it out yesterday (just in case DH wanted it today) ....aaaand no license. So, today DH decided he wanted on my bank account. *eyeroll* I mean, that's fine, but... how about we PLAN for that? Anyway, since I don't have a license, he got mad and said just go freakin get another one. So, I went to DMV, but for some reason ...they were closed. SO, I came home INTENT on finding my license. ....and I just remembered I was supposed to pay the power bill today. Anyhow, I came home and tore apart the couch and ...it was pretty gross underneath all the cushions, so ..I decided to vacuum the couch. Which turned into a full blown clean everything whirlwind. I didn't find my license, but it looks pretty good in here. It was REALLY bad (no judging allowed!)..and I still have work to do, but my back had other plans, so I sat down for a minute. I mean, I even put away laundry. I wish I had the stamina and bend-over skills to really get in the corners, but.. maybe DH will help me when he gets here. HAHAHAHAHAHA
