No more spotting since the tiny bit last Thursday.
How are you doing, Alissa? No more bleeding? I'm curious, did they check for vasa previa? I know a couple women who had that. I know bleeding can be a warning sign for it and that it's pretty serious.
Good news about no more spotting!
They did not test me specifically for vasa previa at the hospital, but I know that one of the tests for it is a color doppler to look at blood flow and they have done color doppler imaging at every ultrasound and everything looked fine.
They said that they thought it was the increased blood flow to the vessels in my cervix getting ready for labor, aggravated by the internal exam. I will ask my dr about vasa previa at my appointment tomorrow though, and see if he thinks it warrants any more testing (if there are any other tests.)
Nope, just those 2 incidences that were early on...I think both were before like 10 wks.

Backstory is I have to travel 300 miles, one way, at the beginning of April for my sister's wedding. (Sidenote: I'm a bridesmaid...I will look like a whale in that dress! Yikes! ) I'll be 29 wks at that point and with my history of going into labor at 33 wks with DS1 while visiting the same area, Doc planned to do a cervical length check and FFN swab at 26 wks and have me come back and check again for changes at 28 wks depending on the results.
Anyway, so they did the swab 1st b/c the cervix check has to be internal u/s and can disturb stuff making the FFN results not reliable. Then did the u/s and my cervical length was over 5 (cm I think are the units) I can't recall exactly 5 or 5.5...either way very good. They want to see over 2 and start to get concerned below that. I'm pretty sure we checked during my pregnancy with DS2 at 24 wks and it was like 2 or 2.5 so over 5 was great. He decided to not even send off the FFN for results and we are going to decide if we should repeat the u/s at 28 wks depending on how I feel over the next 2 weeks. I also have to do the gestational diabetes test at 28 wks. Oh and they did a quick abdominal u/s while I was in there to check h/b so I asked them to check if she was still, in fact, a she and yep, definitely a little girl! I am super wordy today...sorry about the book. It was a good check-up :)
Virginia, glad to hear you have had no more spotting. :)
Alissa, can't wait to hear how your appointment goes tomorrow. Guessing you will get checked again and they can tell you if any progress? I know it doesn't mean anything for sure but I would be interested to know if I were that close to delivery. :)
I also can not believe I'm almost hitting the 3rd tri. I can't even articulate it but I have felt behind this whole pregnancy...like I'm never as far along as I'd like to be...not sure that even makes sense. And it has just snuck up on me. I am getting close to the point where I'm starting to feel comfortable that this baby is getting developed enough that her odds are very good if she were to come early. I'll really breath easier after I hit 28 wks though, of course I don't want her to come that early either. I'm also starting to feel like this might be the one that really surprises me and I'll go to 40 wks. I have no idea why I'm getting that feeling now.
Alissa, the nursery is ... well it still looks the same as it has for the past week or so LOL. I got through all the clothes..washed, dried and hung them all up and realized - she has WAY too many NB clothes. Oh well, most of them were given to me from a thrift store. I would have felt bad if I had taken the tags off of a lot of NB clothes because I could have taken them back, but honestly I think maybe 4 outfits were new, the rest weren't. They came and painted the ceiling in there today - it looks exactly the same as it did, but whatever..not my house. So .. I have a question. Should I "set" up her stuff now? Like put a crib sheet on and move the crib and stuff where I want it? I don't want to put a sheet on and it get dusty ..do you think it's too soon to do that? I'm not trying to be funny - I know it wouldn't take a lot of effort to change a sheet.. but.. DH has the crib on the highest setting and I'm so dang short I can still barely reach it. I'm gonna have to get a step stool when she starts trying to climb out LOL The travel system is still in the box.. I need to clean the swing (it was given to me) and SOMEHOW *ahem DH ahem* there's stuff collecting in the pack n play, so I need to get that cleaned out and ready. I also do not have a changing table. Some people have told I'll want one of those, some people have told me it's a waste of money..so I'm still kind of on the fence about getting one.
Lynn, it made me laugh when you said you felt behind the whole pregnancy. I feel like YOUR pregnancy has ZOOMED by ...haha
AFM, I posted this in April, but.. DH was a total butt last night, but we got a lot of cleaning done. He said we were going to clean today too (I love how I gotta clean on my days off, but on his days off we go fishing???) and I asked him if he was nesting and kind of laughed. He said no, that the house stunk yesterday. *eyeroll* He lost the shed key and that's his way of finding it - throw everything away! We didn't find it yesterday.. and he was in a foul FOUL mood yesterday sheesh. I hope he's in a better mood today. I don't really want to clean though. Should I clean? Sure. I need to get the babies room swept and organized. I need to clean the kitchen (seems like I do that everyday) and I need to finish laundry (only like one load left WOOHOO!), but.. I just don't FEEL like doing any of that! LOL
GL at your appointment, Alissa
Lynn - I'd like to be further along, too. I really love the third tri (probably weird, but true). GL with the wedding and travel.
Jessica - make sure you take some time to relax, too. Nesting is wonderful, but... these are your last few weeks without someone new constantly demanding attention. ;)
AFM: I must be feeling a little more confident because I've starting making things for baby.
LOL Jessica...I know what you mean, I always feel like other ladies pregnancies go by quickly. :)
Virginia, I'm glad your starting to feel more confident. I also like the 3rd tri...I tend to worry alot less and it feels like the fastest one to me too. Of course I have yet to get to 37 weeks so I can only imagine time seems to slow down at that point. ;)
Really? Yours were both before 37 weeks? Mine have been 39+1, 39+5, and 38+5. With the 3rd I was rooting for him to come late, but no such luck. (I felt comfortable but had a terrible cold, so bad that coughing broke my water and in post-partum the nurses kept checking me for pneumonia. I wanted it to get better before he came!)
The kids are going to start guessing about baby soon. We're really trying to hide it until 12 weeks (my next u/s is April 8 at 12w3d) and ideally I'd like to wait until the SCH heals. I'm just glad they aren't old enough to figure out what Mommy feeling really sick for weeks on end means.
Yep, my first was 33+4; that was after my water broke at 33+1. They put me on mag sulfate for 48 hrs to hold off labor and give me steroid shots for his lungs. Then my second came at 36+5. Labor again started with rupture of membranes but I was far enough along they didn't stop it. I'm really hoping to get to the 38 to 39 week timeframe this go round. :)
Hope you are able to hide the baby news until you are ready to tell. Have they said anything?
