Alissa - I live in a little bitty city. We don't have HOA's where I live, but DH's mom gets a letter all the time for everything, I think it's funny because they are so nit-picky! And her neighbor has the same stuff wrong, but he doesn't get a letter.. he's a cop though, so maybe he's exempt or something. Yes, there is one guy that goes around and measures the grass for the city. I'm sure that's not his "only" job ...and I'm also fairly certain someone called and complained. I'm also fairly certain it's the guy across the street whom I've spoken too and waved too many times and he just looks at me. Generally, he's outside with his shirt off, beer in hand, on the lawnmower. Mowing his dirt. He has like..zero grass. LOL
Jina - I'm excited that you get to start putting your nursery together soon! I don't have an extra bedroom here, so I'm not really sure where stuff is going to go...but I'm not concerned about it. We have a large L shaped living room ..where part of the L is unused, so I'm sure everything will get put there. I want that guest bedroom dismantled as soon as you can and pics put up pronto! Hehe, just kidding.
AFM, today at work ZOOMED by. My dept closes at 11am and the first time I glanced at the clock it was 1045! I was like, heck yeah! LOL. I was peeved this morning because no one showed up to let me in for 45 minutes. I totally could have slept for another 45 minutes. Anyway, I stopped by the housing whatnot for my city to ask if a letter had been sent and if it had - to whom. They wrote down my address and said they'd call me back. I've been telling myself ALL DAY that even if he (landlord) calls, I don't have to answer it.. I'll just tell DH to call him back (he already said he'd handle it), but I KNOW me and I'll listen to the crappy email and then I'll be mad and/or worried even more. When I left the housing dept, I almost busted into tears. The people in the dept were....uh...semi helpful, but they all just looked at me like I was crazy over worrying about a high grass notice. I told DH to tell the landlord, if it comes to it, that we cut the grass once a week. It's been CRAZY raining over here and it got high. I hate being like this - worrying over stupid stupid stupid stuff. I mean, it makes me sick I worry so much. And Jina, I was on Prozac for a few years with my ex husband. It definitely helped defeat the blues, but I'm not sad anymore - I just worry. ALL THE TIME.
Alissa, good luck to us all when it's time to clean out our spare bedrooms! We're going to have to rent a climate controlled storage unit to store all of our cr@p. I'm really jealous of people with (usable) attics and basements. Please don't tell me that you have a basement or attic because I'm going to have to go cry in the corner. lol
I'm glad you feel a little better. Keep taking Colace every day and hopefully you'll be more regular from now on.
Jessica, I'm glad your workday passed by quickly. I hope this grass business blows over and you'll find out that you worried for nothing. ((hugs)) It might be worth looking into taking anti-anxiety medication instead of anti-depressants if the worrying gets to be too much for you. Talk to your doctor....hopefully s/he will have some advice for you.
About the nursery, are you planning on partitioning off the living room and creating a nursery there? That would be so cool. I've seen so many neat ideas for nurseries for small spaces on apartment therapy. You should check it out!
AFM, the tree guys finally left. We had two trees taken out that were hanging over our neighbor's house. The trees were doing nothing for us. We weren't getting any shade and it was just a insurance liability so we decided to remove them. We have so many freaking trees on our lot. Our entire lot is shaded which is really awesome in the summer months since they really help keep our lot and house like 20 degrees cooler. But, I hate raking up all the freaking leaves! Oh and they are ALL pecan trees so we have like a million mutant squirrels!
Anyway, I hope everyone has a good evening. I need to get dinner started soon.
Jessica - Glad that your work day flew by yesterday. That is how I am feeling today; I can't believe it's almost 1 already! That is too bad that you suffer so much from anxiety. I'm sure being pregnant after a loss doesn't help your over all stress levels, although we are almost out of the first tri now, so hopefully we can start to relax a little more. You'll have to let us know whatever happens (if anything) with the grass situation.
Jina - Haha, am I crazy, or don't you kind of hate squirrells? Haha, that's funny that you have a zillion squirrell bait trees. That is a good idea to get rid of some trees that aren't doing you any good and possibly creating a liability with your neighbors. I wish you could send a few my way; we need more trees in our yard. We have almost zero shade in the back, and we keep saying that we are going to plant some, and then we keep not doing it.
I can't wait to hear about your anatomy scan on Thursday! How excited are you?
AFM - Not much going on, kind of annoyed at work but nothing major. OMG. Last night though, T sneezed a bead out of his nose! I had NO idea he even had a bead up his nose, and then he sneezed and out it came. Disgusting and scary! Why do kids do stuff like that???
I'm so happy that I am 11 weeks. I never thought I would make it this far. Only 7 days to go until the dreaded 12 week wait is OVER!
Alissa - the housing dept people called me back last night and said that they hadn't seen my address written down anywhere. I went over a friends last night and I think she really helped calm me down. Well that and I got to eat salsa and spicy stuff and I was in heaven!!!! (I have some killer heartburn now though). I AM SO SYKED FOR YOU! I can't believe that you're one week away from being done in the first tri-mester! How freakin exciting!
Jina - weirdly enough, this is the first house that I've seen a squirrel in for many years. My dad has a TON of them at his house and he's got a pellet gun sitting beside his door. He gets so mad because they eat his bird seed. LOL ... lucky for me, he has horrible aim as well
AFM, they're interviewing an old co-worker of mine for the position that I'm currently working in the store that I don't wanna be in. She called me today and told me she goes in tomorrow to interview. That's good, I'm ready to get out of there. However, she also told me that MY boss at MY store asked for her number. Unless he wants to bring her in to my store, he doesn't need her number.. so I'm wondering who's about to get canned. The president of my company rather quickly up and resigned. There are rumors floating that we got sold to another company. That would make sense for his quick departure. They usually leave store personnel alone, so .. as long as I still have a paycheck, I'm not real concerned about where it comes from. I can adapt to anyone new and their new rules, no problem. I'm off tomorrow, my friend is having her memorial for her baby that didn't make it. I'm gonna go because as a friend, I should be there - but this makes the ...4th time? I've been there for her when no one else has and she definitely does not return the favor. I've only asked her for a handful of favors throughout the 15 years I've known her and ...unless they benefit her, they aren't getting done. I need to re-evaluate my friendships, I think.
Hope you ladies are doing well!
Alissa, nope, you're not crazy. I HATE squirrels. You guys should plant some trees...lol. Okay, well, this is just as bad. You know how our entire lot is covered in trees? Well, we had 2 trees taken out a few years ago to let some sunlight in our backyard for our garden and I ended up planting 2 non-pecan trees to replace them. Yep, I'm crazy. LOL
I'm so freaking excited about my scan tomorrow! I can't wait to see our Baby boy. My uterus is already right by my belly button and I like to sit at my desk with my belly pushed up against the edge of the desk. Well, I guess he doesn't like that because he will sit there and kick and kick until I move. LOL
Yay!! Almost out of 1st trimester!!! I'm so excited and happy for you!!!
WTH?! A BEAD came out of his nose?! Holy crap! That must have been so scary! I know it's not funny because that's very dangerous but geez...why do kids like to stick things up their noses?!
Jessica, Ugh! I wish our squirrels only ate bird seeds. The mutant squirrels here destroy the garden, potted plants (they break the pots), bully and taunt my dog, dig up newly planted flowers or just eat the flowers and that's just the beginning. They are seriously crazy and MEAN!
I'm so sorry about your friend. What a good friend you are to be there for her even though she doesn't return the favor. I don't have very many friends anymore. As I get older, my tolerance for b/s friendship is ZERO. I have no problems cutting ties and moving on. It's just not worth it to put up with fake or selfish people. You know?
AFM, Not much going on today. I keep trying to muster up the energy to re-organize my closet and I just can't seem to get myself to do it. Ugh! lol I have so many pairs of shoes and not enough room. I need a shoe closet...lol. Haha! I guess it doesn't help that I'm expecting a pair of boots to show up tomorrow? I have a serious addiction to shoes.
So, I'm trying to decide between two gliders. One glides and the other glides and reclines. What do you guys think? Do I really need a glider that reclines also? Oh and the recliner is also more expensive. I dunno....what to do....what to do.
Oh and remember how our insurance denied our claims for IVF? Well, it turns out that it was their fault. They had the wrong provider in their system even though we provided the correct provider code. It also turns out that the IVF clinic had 2 of the procedures coded incorrectly and they are covered. This means we're probably going to get more money back! Yay! Fingers crossed that everything works out.
Jessica - I agree with Jina - life is too short to spend a lot of time and energy on someone who doesn't give back as well as they get, but having said that it is very sweet of you to be there for her, even if she doesn't give you the same courtesy. Yay for the housing department not having anything on file about your grass! Sounds like you are in the clear!!!
Jina - My glider was not a recliner, and it was fine. Having said that, I think I read somewhere that nursing is easier if you prop your feet up (I had a bad habit of putting mine up on the coffee table when I nursed on the couch, it felt natural somehow) and I think they even sell special nursing footstools, so having a recliner with a foot rest might be useful. We don't have room for that big of a chair in our little bedrooms, but if you do, it might be a good perk for that reason. I also never got the hang of nursing while laying down, but apparently some people get good at it, so a recliner might be nice for that as well.
for your insurance paying for IVF; AS THEY SHOULD!!!! I'm so glad to hear that they finally figured it out.
I can't wait to hear all about your scan tomorrow. You must post lots of pictures of baby boy!!!
AFM - I broke my "spotting free" record yesterday! Yesterday makes 4 days in a row, which is the longest I've gone since I started keeping track. I was mad, last Thursday I had just the tiiiiiiiniest spot of pink, right at bed time. Like, literally the size of a poppy seed, and light pink, not red. I debated whether or not to count it, decided I should, but I have begrudged it ever since, because if it weren't for that one tiny pink dot, I would have 8 days in a row! But I am very comforted to think that since the blood and clot on Labor Day, I have really only had one tiny dot. That's good news, right? I'm pretty sure my SCH is either healed or very close to.
Posted a new belly pic on my April space if anyone is interested.
Hope you are all having a great day!
Alissa - Yay about breaking your spotting free record! I know you had a *reason* for spotting, but it's still gotta be a big relief that your SCH is healing. Your ticket on your space (the one that I have) says baby is a big as a lime now. A LIME! This week it's a prune! that seems like a big jump, but ...the only prunes I've ever seen are pitted, so maybe it's actually bigger than I'm thinking...lol Love the new pic! I was laughing at something I read the other day - a lady was saying she wanted her pregnant belly to be in "D" form, but she was overweight and it was in "B" form. Mines definitely in "B" form, I have two rolls instead of one! LOL
Jina - I didn't know you were having problems getting your insurance to pay, but great that you're getting money back! I know IVF can be horribly expensive, so any help would be great.
AFM - I'm gonna show how little I've looked at baby stuff and ask, whats a glider? I assume, from Alissa's response that it's something you sit on and glide, but I always thought it was just for baby? I didn't get my doppler today - even though I paid for 1 day shipping, they didn't mail it until today so I guess I'll get it tomorrow. That's too bad, I had all day to practice today and I gotta WORK tomorrow. BOO! I felt fine this morning, didn't need to take a pill. Brother was up - he never gets up so I knew he wanted something. He did, he needed me to go with him to get a new phone because I'm the account holder and they won't upgrade his line without me. So we went and got a cashier that ...made me wanna choke him more than once. The bill was less than it should be for the phone, so I'm holding on to the extra money that my brother gave me because once I get my actual bill in, I'm a little afraid of what changes the cashier put on it. He kept asking me what plan I wanted, I kept saying it's just an upgrade! Not a new plan! We have a plan! ...well you have to choose one. I'm not picking another plan! ...oh, there's something here for keep plan, I'll click that.
Alissa, I was planning on getting an ottoman with the regular glider but when I heard about a reclining glider I was like hmmm....maybe I need one of those! lol You have a good point about the space issue. Our nursery isn't all that big so I'll probably just go with a regular glider.
Yay!!! LOL sorry about the tiny pink spot. I would be pretty annoyed too. I think it's really good news and it probably means the stupid SCH is going away!
You're getting such a cute little bump! I love it...I'm actually quite jealous! I'm still waiting to "pop". I still just look pudgy...lol. Anyway, Your NT scan is the day before my birthday. I can't wait to see pics and hear all about the appointment. I'm really hoping that you get a peek at his or her nub!
Jessica, a glider is an arm chair for the nursery that glides. It's just like a rocker but it glides instead of rocking. It makes breastfeeding/snuggling/rocking your baby to sleep easier. Later, when the baby is older it's a great place to read bedtime stories with your child. I'm buying one that will also work in our living room once we're done with nurseries.
That sucks about the doppler. I hope it shows up tomorrow! Having a doppler has been so awesome. I don't use it anymore now that I can feel the baby but back when I couldn't it was just so nice to be able to listen to his heartbeat and get the daily reassurance.
Alisssa, are you still using your doppler?
Jessica - that's too funny about B vs D. Whatever shape your bump comes in, it's perfect as long as it holds an adorable healthy baby, amiright? I am surprised and pleased that baby is the size of a lime too; doesn't that seem really big all of the sudden? LOL! What is it about cell phone providers? It seems like any time anyone I know (myself included) needs to do ANYTHING with their cell phone, it's a complete PITA and things always get messed up. How complicated can it be to just continue on the same plan that you had before? LOL Hope things aren't messed up now.
Sorry you didn't get your doppler today! Grrrrr! After you paid for expedited shipping and everything! You'll have to tell us how you like it tomorrow.
Jina - For more efficient stalking, what time is your appt, and what time can we expect you home and posting all about it? And don't be late, missy!
Thanks for saying it's a cute bump. I seriously have a hard time deciding if it really looks like a bump, or if I just look like I've been eating too many carbs. LOL! I think more than even bump, it's just my stomach muscles giving up on life, plus some bloat because the whole business is hard instead of squishy. LOL, but whatever, I'll take it.
I still use my doppler a couple of times a week. It's nice just to check in, and it makes me feel better when I start to have doubts. But my doubts have been fading away the further along I get and the more time that goes by without spotting, so I find that I'm okay with going several days in between uses. It's still nice to have though.
Alissa, My u/s is at 9 am and then I have an appt. with my OB at 9:30. I should be home by 10:30 maybe? The hospital is only 10 minutes away so I should be home soon after the appt. is over. LOL I promise that I will try my best to check in asap!!
I think your bump looks like a baby bump. I'm sure it's a combination of bloat and baby but I don't think you look at all like you've been eating too many carbs. My belly is kind of squishy...it better just be water weight! lol
Yay, glad the doppler is making you feel better. You have waaaay more self control than me. I used that sucker daily!
What are you guys doing for dinner? We're supposed to have leftover pasta but I'm in the mood for a burger or maybe some fish tacos. Mmmmm....gonna call the Hubs in an hour and a half and have him bring home some yum yums. LOL
