Okay, I'm set to start hitting refresh every two minutes starting 9:35 am (10:35 your time) tomorrow. :P
I'm just making turkey sloppy joes tonight. We're fancy. LOL But I have to run to the store after work, so I want to do something easy. We are taking dinner over to my ILs house on Friday for MILs birthday, so I said I would bring a veggie lasagna and a salad. I want to make them ahead of time tomorrow night so we can just pop the lasagna in the oven when we get to their house on Friday, so that means I have to go to the store tonight. Hence, sloppy joes for dinner. Weirdly, DH genuinely loves sloppy joes (I don't mind them, but seriously, what kind of weirdo loves them?) so at least he will be happy.
I never had sloppy joes growing up except at my dads. My mom went to culinary school and was a food service manager and etc etc, but she never made super fancy food at home, but for some reason she never gave us sloppy joes. My dad is an amazing cook as well and he is always adding stuff to normal recipes and making them divine. Before he got into cooking we had sloppy joes and spaghetti a lot. The last time I was there, he asked me what I wanted for dinner. He's made so many good things, I couldn't even choose.
I'm excited about the doppler, I need constant reassurance.
I made dinner tonight - the first time in three days. It was okay, but I probably won't make some of the stuff again. The potatoes and green beans had a rosemary sauce on them - and ...I couldn't even taste the rosemary and I followed the recipe.
Anyway, Jina, good luck tomorrow! I'll be signing on as soon as I get home to see!!
Quick update ladies.....I won't be home til after lunch. M decided to take the entire morning off so we're going to our favorite bookstore after the u/s then out to lunch! I didn't want to leave you guys hanging. Lol
Alissa, I like sloppy joes! I don't love them but I do enjoy eating them once a year. I like to put regular Lays potato chips in the sandwich for the crunch. lol
Jessica, Did the doppler show up?!
AFM, The appointment didn't go as expected. Something bad was going on with a patient who was scheduled for an u/s before me. I had to wait an hour for my u/s. I guess the lady before was in the u/s room for an hour and a half. They have 2 u/s rooms and techs but I guess it was just one tech working today. Af first I thought they just forgot about me and I was getting pissed but when M went to go ask wth was going on the ladies at the front desk apologized and said that the patient before had been in there for an hour and a half. I'm guessing something bad was going on in that room.
Anyway, when they finally called me back the baby decided not to cooperate. He had his legs crossed again! That is his favorite position, I think. He was also hiding his face and scratching his head. It was so cute. We didn't get great pictures but I do have a dvd of the session so maybe I'll go back and take better screen shots. Everything was measuring right on target and my OB said I have a beautiful cervix. Oh and baby is still a BOY. lol My weight and vitals are good too. I guess it was a good appointment today. I go back in 4 weeks to see her again and then I get to schedule the 4d u/s! My OB said 28 weeks was best so in 9 weeks we get to see our baby boy again!
Here are some pics....
Baby boy with his legs crossed again!
Awwww Jina! He is beautiful! What a gorgeous little boy you have there! Too funny about having his legs crossed; modest little guy, isn't he? So glad that you had a good appointment (but how upsetting about the other poor lady who had been in there for an hour and a half.... That definitely does not sound like good news....) LOL about you having "a beautiful cervix"!!! Your OB sure knows how to compliment a lady doesn't s/he? LOL!!!!
Chips on a sloppy joe for the crunch sounds delicious!
Jessica - I second Jina, did you get your doppler? Have you used it yet? Deets!
Too bad about the rosemary sauce. I hate it when a recipe doesn't turn out the way I expected!
AFM - I actually did not end up making sloppy joes last night after all. When we got home, DH had also gotten stuff for dinner, and we both liked his idea better (pork taco soup) so he made dinner instead, which works out better. Tonight is Back to School night at T's preschool, so I am probably going to take him some place like Burger King for a quick dinner, and then DH and I can eat leftover soup. After I get back from Back to School night, I have to pre-make a lasagna and a salad, so leftovers should be just about my speed.
Oh, and guess who has two thumbs and can count 5 days spot free as of yesterday? This guy!
Alissa, thank you! Yes, our OB is a riot and she's awesome. When she commented on my cervix both M and I started laughing and she said that only a OBGYN can get away with complimenting a woman's cervix. LOL
Pork taco soup? That sounds interesting. What's in it? The veggie lasagna sounds really good too. I've never had veggie lasagna before. I bet it's a really good way to eat lots of veggies.
5 days!! Awesome!
AFM, I'm making Siriracha chicken stir fry for dinner tonight. Man, I'm feeling so freaking lazy right now. Probably because the weather is so awesome. It's semi overcast and there's a 60% chance of rain for today and tomorrow. 50% for Saturday and 30% for Sunday. My kind of weather for sure!
What are you guys up to today?
Jina - it's amazing how huge your baby boy looks with those machines! That's so cute that he had his legs crossed - I like the first pic it looks like he's sitting on the ..."camera". That's awful about a lady being in there an hour and a half.. I'm hoping for her sake she just ...paid more for a longer visit with her u/s. Yeah, that's what I'm going with.
Alissa - pork taco soup sounds good. It also sounds like something DH would turn down in a heartbeat. He doesn't really "do" soups. My mom made a killer soup when she was living with me last year and he wouldn't TOUCH it. He's so picky. And he thinks he doesn't like stuff, just because he's never had it. Like green bean casserole. He said he didn't like it. Turns out he never ate it. Then he *finally* tried it, and he ate the WHOLE THING. I still can't get him to eat asparagus. My fav veggie
AFM, NO MY FRIGGIN DOPPLER DIDN'T SHOW UP. I looked up the tracking and it left Sandston, VA at 7:16 this morning. It takes an hour and a half to get here from there, which puts it here around 9ish. My mail doesn't get delivered until 2. I don't understand why I didn't get it. It showed delivery Friday or Saturday with NOT paying the extra to 1 day it here. This is so annoying, that was an extra 30 dollars! I don't have any personal hate against the mail, but...whenever I need something to get there fast, I UPS or FEDEX it. Not use the mail.
Anyway, DH has school tonight and had said something about hot dogs last night, so he'll probably get that. I might eat. My stomach isn't feeling so great...and it's not the same as a m/s hurt.
On a positive note: I have a Masters and Bachelors in English. I'm not gloating, but the people I work with are always being corrected (by me) especially if they end a sentence in *at* or *for*. Such as, what are you doing that for? My friends get corrected too. I ALWAYS tell them to not end their sentences in prepositions. Most of them don't know what that is and they always reply, "What are you..an English Major?" ANYWAY, I got a late b-day card in the mail. I open it ..the front has two women, one says, "Where is your birthday party at?", the other replies, "Don't end your sentences in prepositions". You open it and the first lady says, "Where is your birthday party at, b****." Oh man, I about died laughing. This certain friend says that to me when I correct her and it was a perfect card!
On another bad note: DH's dog got into a glass of milk left on the table. Apparently it got on my computer somehow because there was milk on the keyboard when I opened it. I hope it continues to work.
He chops pork up into bite size peices, and then sautees it in a little bit of oil to get it browned in a big soup pot. Then you add 1 can of corn (drained), 1 can of black beans (drained) 1 can of Mexican Style stewed tomatoes, about 2 cans of water (depending on how soupy you want it) 1 pkg taco seasoning, and 1 pkg dry ranch dressing. Bring up to a boil, and then turn down to a simmer, and simmer at least 1 hour. Serve with cheese and tortilla chips. It's super yummy!
Here is the veggie lasagna recipe I will be making. I am also adding spinach (frozen spinach, but thawed in the fridge overnight) to the ricotta cheese. I'm going to get it all put together tonight and then bake it at MIL's house tomorrow. I like veggie lasagna pretty well. Honestly, I like meat lasagna better, but the ILs keep kosher so there are a lot of issues around making a meat meal that I just didn't want to deal with, which is why we chose a dairy meal.
Tonight I am going to Back to School night at T's preschool, and then making the lasagna and salad. Tomorrow I have work, and then am going to MILs birthday dinner with my lasagna and salad in tow (SIL is bringing garlic bread and a dessert - not sure how Hubby got out of doing any work whatsoever! LMAO!)
Siriracha Chicken Stir Fry sounds awesome! I'm not even going to tell you what DH and I call Siriracha sauce; it's vulgar. LOL! But we both love it, so I'm going to have to try that recipe soon. The only thing is, I'll probably make something else for T since his palate isn't as used to spicy stuff.
Jessica - We must have been posting at the same time.
I've seen that card before, very funny!
That is MADDENING that you paid an extra $30 for expedited shipping and didn't get it yesterday or today. I would be SO MAD.
Jessica, Ugh! I can't believe your doppler isn't there still! I would be fuming for sure. You should contact the seller and see if s/he will refund your shipping cost. 1 day shipping to me is overnight shipping. So it it shipped yesterday you should have gotten it today for sure.
LOL! The card sounds hilarious. I love funny cards. I can't stand mushy cards so I always go for the funny/mean cards. I hope you feel better by dinner time. Hot dogs sound pretty good to me.
Eeek about the computer! I hope it's okay!
Alissa, thanks for the recipes. I'm going to have to save the recipe for the pork taco soup for this fall. It sounds so easy to make. What cut of pork do you guys use? The lasagna looks pretty good too. I'm going to make it next time I'm craving lasagna. Oh and just an FYI - Whole foods recalled their ricotta cheese due to listeria. Hopefully you didn't get your ricotta from there!
LOl@ your Hubby getting out of cooking duties for his MOM! I hope you guys have fun at the birthday dinner. Back to school night - is that like a meet and greet?
Now you HAVE to tell me what you guys call Siriracha sauce!!! I NEED to know!!! LOL
