Alissa, we're already strapped for money. I have the lowest cable box thingy (which still gives me like 395894294521395 channels, and I watch two of them LOL), I have a cell phone bill that's almost 200 bucks a month just for me and my brother, but he's paying his half now. The only things I'm real good about now: Making sure the lights are off in the rooms we aren't in (DH has to go behind me SOMEtimes), and generally I try to save the most money grocery shopping. My store doubles all coupons up to 1.00 plus I get a 10% discount on generic items. So, I coupon and if I don't have a coupon, I get generic (except peas, generic peas are GROSS). I don't have a membership to anything..lol. I groom my own dogs (gotten prettttty darn good at it too!).. I'm not like super cheap, like I don't wash my clothes AND my body AND water the plants all at the same time in the shower LOL. But seriously, my grocery bill is what saves me the most money. And I get stuff for free all the time. I actually took a picture of my spare closet the other day and send it to my mom because I was SO proud LMAO. It's just toiletries, like shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant and stuff like that.. but I have probably 150 bucks worth of stuff in there and paid maybe 10 dollars for it all. I just wait for a sale on a certain item - for instance, Herbal Essences goes on sale 2 for 6 dollars every other month. Which means if you buy one, it's only 3 dollars. I have a coupon for a dollar off of one, which doubles to two dollars, so I'll get a bottle of Herbal Essences for a dollar. I haven't actually paid for toothpaste in months. Meat and produce don't normally have coupons, so sometimes when they have a good sale I'll spend more to stock up. I think we have enough chicken to last 3 weeks... and DH isn't a huge chicken lover LOL Now that I've really gone overboard in talking about couponing...LOLOL I also have realized that I spend a lot of money needlessly, like I don't even realize it. Stop here, stop there, eat at Wendys (haha), bottle of water here, soda there - it adds up without me even thinking about it. Plus, I never carry cash, so I just swipe my card and then I'm like... man crap! I spent 25 dollars today and didn't even leave my job! So...none of that is really helpful, and I'm rambling now

AFM, my appt was boring. The pain, she said, was normal. I was in there maybe 3 minutes tops. DH wanted to grill out tonight (it's 75 degrees here today!!!), but ...erm...all we have is chicken in the freezer that is grill-able and he doesn't want that. So I suppose I'll do something with some pork chops. The ones we have are really thin and not great for grilling. Plus, it's super windy here. I hate when it's windy, I always think a tree is going to fall on the house. I'll be SO GLAD when Friday gets here. One, I'm off the whoooole weekend (including Friday!) and two I get paid. I have HAVE to get this house clean. My mom, my MIL and two of my friends said they'd help me and.... I don't think any of them will be here until Saturday (MIL will be here early to help set up, but that's about it). I'm thinking my back is going to hurt on Saturday.

OH MY GOSH. I'm sooooo on the edge of my seat waiting to hear from Jina. I know, logically, that even if she had her baby last night (which, labor takes a while, so it could be today or god forbid even tomorrow) she's probably totally overwhelmed, resting, busy with baby, et cetera. I know that. But I still checked PO on my phone the second I opened my eyes this morning. LOL!!!! Easy labor vibes, Jina! Easy labor vibes!

Jessica - I think that food and grocery costs are one big place that I could probably cut down. I've never really couponed, and I don't know how much it would help me with food because like you said, they usually don't do coupons for meat and produce, but it would be helpful with toiletries and the food that we buy that would have coupons (rice, yogurt, cereal.) My deal is, I don't take the paper because I never read the paper and I hate wasting all of those trees. So I'm going to search and see if there are places where you can get a lot of coupons online. I also want to be better about reading the store circulars (I'm pretty sure those ARE online) to see about deals on meat and produce. I'm thinking maybe if we try to eat produce that is on sale more often and maybe buy and eat meat on sale, that would help.

Anyway, thanks for the tips! I'm so with you about spending money needlessly though. Ugh. It's a hard habit to break, too. I'm out of decaf coffee at home, and I soooo wanted to go to the coffee shop to get a decaf coffee this morning. It's not like I *need* a decaf coffee - not like I'm addicted to the caffiene in them or something, since they have almost none - it's just part of my morning ritual and I so wanted one. But I swore that today is a "no spending day" so I soldiered on.

AFM - I'm huge. That is all.

I don't have much time to post just wanted to say "Thinking of you Jina, hope everything is going well and can't wait to see your update!!

I'll have to comment on the saving money a little more later but my biggest advice is budget. It's hard to know where to start but the best thing to do is record all spending for a month period of time. That will give you a nice snapshot of your regular spending and can be hugely eye opening when you have a 1 month record of actual spending there in front of you. Once you see that it will help with identifying where you can shave the budget. For us, eating out and other food spending is our biggest drain on the budget. But again, definitely the place to start is record your actual spending for a period of time and organize it into categories to see what you are spending on what. I'll almost guarantee you if you haven't looked at it that way before it will surprise you.

Is it bad that I'm seriously considering going to the store for a bottle of wine? I wouldn't drink the whole bottle but OMG IM SO STRESSED OUT. Last night it was SUPER windy here. Around 2am, I hear this HUGE crash. I jump out of bed and wake up DH in the process. Jumping out of bed is a feat in itself because my freakin hoo-hah hurts and my belly is kinda big...but I was UP, with a quickness. DH was like...wha..? I said I heard something! He said it was him snoring. *insert really huge eyeroll here* I said no, it was a big noise. Like really loud thunder. He said it probably was thunder, go back to sleep. So, I managed to fall asleep for another 15 mins or so..but ..didn't get much shut eye. Anyway, this morning, I go outside and see that my less-than-a-year-old grill is upside down and around the side of the shed. It doesn't live around the side of the shed, so obviously it got blown over there. I see tree limbs all over the place, but it missed the cars. THEN I get a phone call from my LANDLORD, saying that my neighbor called and apparently there's some issue with the house and the storm and to call him back. Well I did, and he said the neighbor said a tree hit the house (which would explain that loud crash I heard) but that she says the roof is okay looking. Well, I leave before daytime hits, so when I got home... I checked and OMG. My ac/heat unit is CRUSHED beneath a HUGE tree. Apparently it hit the roof and then rolled and crashed into the ac unit. Everyone keeps asking me if the heat works.. I'm like hello!! There's a tree on top of it, I'm not starting it up to see if it'll start a fire!!
So, my baby shower is in two days...everyone needs to bring their own blanket, apparently! DH's dog, which has been driving me NUTS is not supposed to be here and if the landlord "stops by" to check, I'm gonna get in trouble because of that dog. (Whom, crapped on the floor AGAIN ...right after we came in from a potty trip outside!).
Yeah. I know my blood pressure is up. This is great.

Lynn - That is a good idea about actually sitting down and recording everything we spend for a month. I'm sure it will help me get a better idea of where I need to focus. Will start that tomorrow, since it is conveniently the beginning of the month. Thanks for the tip!

Jessica - LOL NO you do NOT need to go out and get a bottle of wine. LOL I'm not commenting on drinking wine while pregnant because some drs are okay with it by the time you're in your third tri, but with your stomach issues I can't imagine that would be helpful. LOL Sorry about your roof and ac/heater. That's insane!!!! You guys are lucky that the tree didn't come through the roof and hurt anybody or mess up your stuff! I assume your landlord is going to have to pay to get that fixed for you. How crazy!

Alissa, yes the landlord is going to pay for it. But I'm considering how long it's going to take. I know the insurance people will want to come out here and look at it - and then they have to write him a check - and then he has to get another one installed. Not looking like the fastest thing ever. We have space heaters in the house anyway, but..still... The tree was struck by lightening a few years ago and the city said they recommended to get it cut down, but they said he didn't have too. My mom says since the tree is clearly dead, the insurance won't pay for it. Tim says they're going to pay for it, get it fixed and get it installed quickly or the rent amount will start falling. HE can handle that one, I'm at the point now that I'm over it. Already. And it just happened today. We are very lucky that the tree didn't come through the roof - I don't currently have renters insurance. I did last month and my card got lost and so I have a new card number so...the insurance got cancelled. Lovely. Tomorrow, the tables and chairs are coming tomorrow for the baby shower. My friend is supposed to come and sorta help me, although I did a lot of cleaning today. I'm just seriously stressed out, I hope this weekend goes well.

JINAAAAAAAA I hope you're doing fantastic and that your baby boy is WONDERFUL!

Jessica I'm sorry you have so many stressful things going on. Definitely a blessing that the damage wasn't worse. I do hope things can get sorted quickly...seems to me it's the landlords responsibility to get your heat fixed ASAP. You can't leave tenants w/o heat in a cold climate while you sort out insurance problems, IMHO.

Thanks Lynn. I agree that you can't leave tenants in the cold. Yesterday, he (the landlord) called me and said that he was calling his insurance company right after we got off the phone and he would let me know something when he knew. Well, I haven't heard anything back from him. I just know how he is - DH and I are ready to hot foot it out of the this house BECAUSE of the landlord. I've never been late on rent or anything so I don't know why he's like that. I have issues with the electronics in the house though. The washer, when the clothes are done, smells like pee. Thankfully, I dump so much stuff in my laundry that the smell isn't in the clothes..but still, there's something wrong with it. I've tried vinegar and bleach and nothing... Still smells. The dryer, when you start it, makes the whole house smell like damp clothes. I think there's an issue with the exhaust, but I see it exiting outside, so ... ? AND the dishwasher only half works. On the bottom. Anything on the top doesn't get clean. Plus the voltage on one side of the house won't run anything like a hair dryer. My point here is, he knew all these problems existed when he rented us the house because he moved out when we moved in. We've just made do, but I'm ready to get into a house where I'm not expecting problems around every turn. And I'm not really expecting a whole lot of forward motion with the heat pump, either. I guess we'll see.

Jessica - Sorry that your landlord has not really been "on" all of the stuff that needs to be fixed in your house. Is the weather supposed to stay cold this weekend during your shower? On the upside, I hope that you have a WONDERFUL time at your shower, and get lots and lots of really good presents. Take lots of pics, and post some for us okay?

Jina - Thinking about you every day lady! I know that you're probably exhausted and busy with that baby boy at the moment, but oooooooh I can't wait to hear that you had him, and his name, and all of the details!!!!

Lynn - Started putting together my worksheet today. Money tracking, here I come!

AFM - Not much going on, just feeling kind of tired and cranky. I will try to check in this weekend, because I'm going to be out most of the time from Mon-Wed, although I will check in when I can because I can't wait to hear from Jina. Hope you all have a nice weekend!

Alissa, yeah it's supposed to be cold. But it was cold today and I kept the house around 70 with the space heaters running, so we should be okay. Can I just say - that today was completely unexpected? Like, I had all these plans to clean, but I cleaned a lot on Thursday when I thought the landlord might stop by. Today, I woke up at 730!!! Even when I sleep in, I usually get up at 530 or 6. I felt totally lazy when I saw the clock LOL. I was in a fantastic mood. My best friend from high school came by - as did DH's uncle. DH's uncle came by to drop off some chairs and two tables. My friend came to hang out/help me clean. We ended up cleaning out the fridge and then going out to eat LOL Then my MIL got here and she was here to help me clean/drop off some decorations. She cleaned my bathroom and dusted, while I sneezed and ordered pizza. DH got home and put some stuff up in the attic and cleaned off the fans. Then MIL swept my floor. I was totally being spoiled today. She kept saying don't worry about it - she remembers how uncomfortable being pregnant is...haha. It was so nice. I'm so glad they came over.
My landlord called, said the insurance adjuster will "most likely" come by tomorrow. It'll be in the middle of my baby shower, but whatever. He asked if my brother still lives here and I said no. But really that's none of his business, he knew he was moving in with us. My neighbor is so totally nosey - and I bet she mentioned when she was conversating with my landlord, that she hadn't seen my brother. The landlord had an issue with my brother from the get go because my LAST landlord said that she had originally thought he was a drug dealer, but she was mistaken. Why even bring that up?? But she did and he was weary. So I know he's glad he's gone. I didn't tell him I'm 31 weeks pregnant. Oopsie. Slipped my mind.
DH went to bed at 7 o'clock tonight. He didn't get home 'til after 5 and then he cleaned, ate and went to bed The mans been working 70 hours a week and he's exhausted when he gets home. He's off Sunday though so we get to spend all day together! Yay!
