It's a boy! It's a girl! It's one of each!
So we had our anatomy scan today. Everything is 100% perfect. They're HUGE (1 lb 13 oz and 1 lb 10 oz). My cervix is a rock, there's no need for the bedrest that was supposed to be coming soon and my doc is convinced I'll make it to 38 weeks with 7.5 to 8 lb babies. Double eek!
The kiddos have swapped places. The boy is still sprawled out all over the place but he's now baby A with his head ready to go and his legs extended along my left ribs (where all the kicking is) and the other - now confirmed girl - is still squished in a little tiny ball, but now she's baby B and she's jammed into my right ribs with her head at my sternum. The doctor had a heck of a time finding some of the hands and feet that were all hiding behind so many baby parts in there.
If any of my words make no sense, forgive me, I'm crazy tired. I just spotted that I wrote "tiny" instead of "finding." Earlier I was telling my dad something about "ice cream" but called it "monkey" instead. I think I've gone crazy...
ETA: AND! we talked to the head anesthesiologist who said there is absolutely no issue with scar tissue from my spinal surgery last year and I can definitely get an epidural. If I need a c-section there's no reason (excepting some emergency) for me to get general anesthesia and now there's even talk for the first time of my potentially having a vaginal birth!
Woo Hoo for you! As my trips are my first and only I was so overjoyed to have each gender represented. How great that scar tissue doesn't seem to be an issue. You go on the vag delivery - if that is what you want to do that is. Not an option for me at all, so I never really gave it much thought.
Congrats on the great appt. Keep them coming!
Yay for a great appt and finding out the sexes. Your pregnancy sounds like mine, strong cervix and two babies that fight over that A spot! and Yay for no bed rest. To be honest, I've been off for a week and I'm bored. I'm glad I went off because the induction got moved up but still, I'm pretty bored. Keep it going Mama, you're doing a great job.
Yay for a great appt! It is amazing what our bodies can handle. I hope you continue with no bed rest and things continue to go smoothly. My girls never switched positions. They were always A and B. Go for that vag. birth if you can. No hope for a vag birth for me either because a) it would be a VBAC, but most importantly, b) K (who was baby A) refused to turn head down.
