Default Anyone surprised at their u/s?

    Hi all
    Lurker here...
Did any of you find out you were having twins at a later u/s? Looking back, was there anything that made you think it could be twins before you found out? With all the early testing stuff they do now, checking hcg levels and early dating scans, seems like most people know pretty early on. I didn't have any of that stuff done, and I have my anatomy scan on Feb 9th and it's my first u/s for this pregnancy.
My SIL (who has twins) thinks I'm having twins because I have had some similarities to symptoms she had early on with her boys. 1.) I felt movement very early, about 12 weeks 2.) The midwife has to move the doppler all over my belly because the HB keeps moving...my SIL said they also though she just had a wiggly baby, but turns out there were 2 in there 3.) My uterus is a little big...at 10 weeks the midwife said it felt normal for 12 weeks. Not enough for them to suspect anything I guess, and we'll find out on Feb 9th what the verdict is. I just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience and didn't find out until later in the pregnancy?

Yeah, I was surprised at my 12 week us. They were my only pregnancy so I had nothing to compare symptoms to but other people's stories. Now I know I wasn't just being a wimp when I barfed non-stop for 8 weeks and lost loads of weight in the process. Everyone always says every pregnancy is different so maybe your symptoms are just different this time.

I had a feeling early on that it might be twins because they run in our family, I had terrible all day sickness/vomiting and showed very quickly. When I got my blood work done my hcg level was much higher then it should have been so they thought I was further along then I was. So I had an u/s at almost 10 weeks and found out I was right and we were having twins. At the u/s, I was showing as much as I was when I was 24 weeks with DD1.

I found out early on at my first appt at about 8wks because there was an u/s. My friend had twins with the same doc, and said he commented on how large her uterus was first (I took clomid, so I knew it was a possibility, and I had a very strong feeling), and the doc said, "Oh! You're REALLY pregnant!". He didn't say what size my uterus was, but my fundal measurement was always at least 4wks ahead. But being a second pregnancy, I think your uterus tends to grow faster than before. Good luck and KUP!

Ok so I also found out @ my 12 wk scan, BUT for the 1st 15 mins of my scan all we saw was 1 baby. It wasnt until after I emptied my bladder and came back in that baby #2 appeared. Its a good thing I was laying down!

We didn't find out until 20 weeks. It was the biggest shock of our lives. We laughed and we cried. We were completely blindsided. I was ridiculously sick but it was just a bit more intense then with my first son. I didn't show until like 17 weeks. Only gained like 5 pounds. Shocker!

I found out at about six weeks u\s that I was having twins (b\c I was seeing an RE). I didn't really even show to the public until about 16 weeks, movement was not even super, super noticeable until 18 weeks. They only reason we kept believing it was two was b\c my home doppler clearly showed two hbs. Good luck!
