appt today (update post #10)

Had my u/s and.follow up appt today.....well didn't go as well as if hoped....we found out they are both boys but they are measuring far apart a little more than a.week and like 4 or 5 ounces inweight...they are sending me to a.maternal fetal medicine specialist to follow up with within the.next two weeks..hopefully early next week. And of course there is only one doc in the area and my OB already warned me that he is very blunt and has no bedside manner...we are very worried as this was a surprise from our last ultrasound at about 16 weeks they were measuring on track with each other.....

I hope that all goes well at MFM. At my anatomy scan at 18 weeks they were measuring 1 week apart (just 2 oz difference I think, though) and I was told it was normal for twins to differ....I hope that one of your boys is just a fast grower and that all is well.

Ok...just got done with my appt in Seattle...the people there were amazing..

They did like a 2 hr long u/s and the babies are still measuring off as well as their fluid levels. But they are not so much I need the laser surgery done yet. As long as they stay the same and grow at the same rate we ate 'ok" although they want me to come.back as the risks for changes are high around this point so o will see my doc on Fri and go to Seattle.for another follow up on Monday and IF there is changes they will likely do surgery the following day...

I'm glad you found a doc you trusted at your appointment today and I hope you won't have to go through a surgery. Do you know what the surgery is for or how it will correct the growth discrepancy? I hope all is well and sorts itself out before your next appointment!

I can't remember what the surgery is called but the cut some of the vessels in the placenta so that one baby doesnt take so much from the other. If you go to fetalhope.org it tells a lot about the procedure to treat ttts. Seattle is the only place that does it here next closest is at least a 10hr drive.

I am glad your appt went well. I hope things continue to go well for your babies.

Erin did just go through the same thing and she and her twins seem to be doing very well.

Glad that all went well and that both babies are stable. Hoping they continue to stay that way....but sounds like they have a plan in you need it, which is reassuring to know.

okay going to try to get this out here.. my son has been horrible today so havent had a free min.. at 23 weeks i went to dr for a twin ultrasound he noticed they were doing ttts he thought they were in 1 sac.. they sent me to magee which was 2 hrs away to have another ultrasound.. turned out they were in 2 sacs babys b's sac had no fluid and was like shirk wraped to her.. so i went and talked to another dr who wanted to do the surgery.. so i was checked in to the hosp that night prepped for the operation signing papers listening to hearts they gave me steroid shots talkin to nicu drs etc.. bc there was a risk i could go in to labor during or shortly after the surgery they once again explaned what they were going to do.. find out where the babys were.. then make a small hole in my stomach (looked like a bug bite when it was over) and they were going to stick a light and lazer in there.. and carterize the blood vessles.. they also drained fluid from baby a bc she had TONS and put in a cerclause bc my cervix was thin etc.. i signed papers saying if something went wrong to do a emergancy c-section etc.. so i go to the or.. they gave me mega epidural ( i was awake the whole time) and they did the procedure.. i didnt feel no pain nothing didnt hurt (the only thing that hurt was my arm.. and i think that was a me problem had nothing to do with what they were doing) i thought i had to puke a few times so they gave me shots for that and for the pain in my arm.. i started to have contractions so they also gave me a shot to stop them. they were able to cut all the blood vessles they shared except for one that was 2 big to cut surgery took like 5 hrs and it went well.. they take me to my room i was having contractions so i didnt get to eat for over 30 hrs!!! but i was on iv's etc.. and i got to go home the very next moring.. when i was discharged baby b was already making her own fluid and both girls were doing great i went back to that hosp every week for a ultrasound and to talk to the dr afterwards intill recently they made it every 2 weeks.. both girls are doing good they have evened out are close to the same size and are doing great... im so glad that i had the operation and would do it again in a heart beat its very scary to think of the what ifs etc.. not sure how much ur dr told you.. or what ya know.. but my dr was very blunt basically said one baby is killing the other and if we dont do something one maybe both would die.. i went from not knowing that my girls would live to having them in a couple weeks with them both at decent sizes.. if you have any questions please ask... and if this doesnt make sence.. bc im trying to fit it all in/rember/ and have stopped a few times to deal with my son im sorry.. lol but if you need a friend that understands.. u can pm me.. or i have facebook if you have facebook we could add eachother... i know ya probally have friends and the girls on the boards are great.. (especially this one bc they get the more then one baby factor lol) but if you have to have this done.. it would have been nice to have someone who has been there and understands what im going thru when i went thru it bc its scary and people dont understand and are like they are doing what? and ur going to have what done? but anyways im rambling now lol if you have any questions etc.. please ask.. and once again im sorry if this doesnt make sence.. lol
