Follow-up Appt

So I had a follow-up appointment today with my OB to check my cervix after the ER thing earlier this week. Everybody is fine and the cervix is looking perfect! At 12 weeks and 18 weeks the doc felt reasonably sure that there were two boys in there, but today -- when I was supposed to get the "official" word -- he couldn't get as good of a look. B is definitely a boy. He's all stretched out and it's obvious. A is curled up and harder to see. At first the doc goes, "Aaaaaand ... it's a girl." I was dubious obviously and asked, "Really?" But the OB forgot he'd given his opinion before. "Is that not what they said at the hospital?" "No, that's not what YOU have been saying." "Oh." So he goes back to take another look. "Oh, you're right, there's a penis. Oh wait, is it? I don't know. The baby won't stop moving. Ok, it's one boy and one I-don't-know." This was the first time we've even had a thought that there could be a girl in there!

Then on my way out, oh man this was hilarious, I ran into a friend from work. We just sort of laughed when we saw each other and I was thinking way too hard thinking well maybe she's just getting a regular pap smear or something when she was all, "Don't tell ANYONE! My mom doesn't even know yet!"

Yay for a good checkup, sorry that you still don't know what you've got in there. Smile Do you have another one scheduled soon? Smile

And too funny about running into your friend. Once when I was 19 and at the gyn office for my regular pap, who comes in, but one of my best friend's dad's. He is a pharmaceutical rep. He saw me, and then looked away. Super strict religious family, so I am sure he did not have good feelings about seeing me there, but I was not even sexually active, I think it may have even been my first appt. Still makes me laugh. lol

I am glad you had a good appt!

I was so anxious to know what sex the babies were, I don't know how you are handling the "I don't know." Hopefully they will be able to tell you at your next u/s. Are you having u/s every 4 weeks?

It is funny who you run into at the OB office. I have ran into people and I could tell they didn't want to see someone they knew there.

Yes, I've been getting ultrasounds at every appointment (6 weeks, 12 weeks, 15 weeks, 18 weeks, ER, 20 weeks...) and the next will be my big anatomy scan at 24 weeks so we should know for sure sure sure then. I want to know but I have no preference and am still confident it's two boys, so it's not freaking me out yet! Smile My boyfriend was super ridiculously giddy once the OB left the room and I had no idea he is that excited about the possibility of a girl. He was like, "I know girls are 10,000 times harder and I'd die of worry every day when she's a teenager, but a GIRL!!!" Pretty cute. Anyway, yes, I'm so relieved the cervix is holding everyone in. I'm onto the crazy dreams now and they alternate between the funny/great dreams (like the dream when I finally met my own twin and he was really awesome) and the horrible/terrifying dreams (like the one when I had to schedule the D&C and get checked into a psychiatric ward for it), but I'm pretty sure I just dreamt about Golden Grahams last night. Blum 3 I moved out of my house yesterday, which only involved heavy lifting of my credit card at the storage rental, truck rental, and restaurants to feed my boyfriend's hungry 20-something cousins who did all of the lifting and cleaning for me, but I was still exhausted beyond belief. I'm not sure how work is going to feel when the school years starts back up here. My OB says he tends to pull twin mothers out of work at 28 weeks. That's already sounding good to me and I haven't worked a day since finding out it's twins -- I'm a teacher and had some lucky summer timing!

I would've died of embarrassment at that age!! Smile

I'm glad all looks good. So funny about the run-in. We just see GP's here so I could just start "coughing" if I was embarrassed to have a run-in.

So you still feel it's two boys? I hope you get a definitive answer pretty quick here.

Huh. If you'd asked me yesterday I was still SURE it was two boys. And yeah, I'm leaning that way. But now the doctor has planted this seed of doubt! I'll know for sure on August 26.

Yay for a good check up. It took them 3 formal u/s to confirm that B was indeed a girl. She moved too much, so there is a chance there is both in there.
