Hello everyone!
I just joined so I thought I should introduce myself... I'm Ashley, I'm 25 years old, have been married to my dear husband for 4 years (as of the day before the confirmation of our pregnancy!) We had been "trying" for about two years, and longer than that hoping nature would just take it's course. In the end, I was diagnosed with PCOS, and Endometriosis (had the uber fun laparoscopy to remove it) and finally conceived using IUI with injectables. After a minor bleeding scare, we went to see our specialist and ta-da!!! Twins showed up on the screen. So here I am... I'm now almost 10 weeks, it's been a bit of a rocky road including a trip to the ER and several ultrasounds but, the babies are doing well and I've "graduated" from my fertility specialist to a regular OB!!!!
Needless to say, I'm happy to be in this place. Hubby is ecstatic, too.![]()
I'm looking forward to being able to connect with other moms to be of multiples. As much as I love the "regular" pregnancy boards, I'm finding my friends who are mommies of singletons just don't "get it" I don't mean to sound down on them. But the comments about how big I am already, or people not understanding why I'm concerned about not gaining any weight (and worse, LOSING weight) is starting to wear on me. I bought "When you're expecting twins, triplets or quads" and I'm finding it very helpful, but it's still nice to have real people to converse with!!!!
I hope everyone is having happy and healthy pregnancies!!!
-Ashley B.
Welcome and congrats on twins. Its a very exciting/scary experience. The ladies on here are amazing and always willing to answer any question. I read just after I found out it was twins that you are not truely pregnant until you are pregnant with multiples and that is the complete truth. Enjoy your pregnancy and the many doc appts and U/S.
Welcome, Ashley! Yes, I can understand the feeling that some people don't quite get the extra worries... As for the weight gain, I feel like we've talked about that in a few conversations around here. I am 22 weeks and have only just now surpassed my pre-pregnancy weight. At my lowest I lost 14 lbs and that was at about 15 weeks pregnant. It's coming on now and all is well. Big growth spurts seem to come quickly as I've noticed!!
I'll have to look for those convos!
It's just weird, I went to the Dr. today... the babies are measuring right on target thus far, and the doctor's comment today is that my uterus is "big and growing fast" so I don't know where the weight is going from? lol.
Thanks for the welcomes!!!
Congrats! Our stories are nearly identical (minus the endo). I've also lost weight - 8 lbs and counting from MS (and I guess our bodies working double time!). I completely understand your "worries." There is just so much stress worrying about losing two. HH9M!
I've learned a lot from these women by just reading. It's so educational.
Have you joined the March 2012 board yet? I'm on there as well!!!! Can't wait to get to know you over the next 8 months!

welcome and congrats! Twins are an exciting and sometimes scary ride, and these boards were so helpful to me in my journey.![]()

I nursed my twins for 2years and 2 weeks!A little sad to be all done now.
Welcome! Congrats on your multiple pregnancy! This is a great board. It was very helpful to me when I was pregnant with the twinkles. Just be prepared that all pregnancies are different (singleton, multiples, it doesn't matter), but a multiple pregnancy is a marthon. It is a long road that requires a lot of attention. As for comments, just wait until they babies arrive. If you think people don't get the multiple pregnancy part, they really don't get how challenging twins (or more) can be.
Oohhh welcome & congrats. Hope you have a very quiet, relaxing journey.
We didn't find out about our 2 until 19 weeks so I just thought MS was extra bad. I too lost quite a bit of weight until about 22 weeks. Hope MS steers clear of you.
