Just wanted to see how you were doing....are you getting any sleep?

Hi there, yeah, getting some. The other night I only got 3 hours but last night was better. I nearly bought a recliner but when it was delivered, it smelled horrible, so I got my money back. Now I am using this "Bed Lounger" from the Sharper Image, when the heartburn is so bad that pills don't help (Zantac, Gas-X) that's when I'll try to sleep upright some. Normally around 4AM I always wake up because of leg pain, that's when I take some Tylenol & a 1/2 of Unisom. When I get up to pee, I hobble because of major hip pain (kinda funny, haha, I feel like I am 90), so basically I dread waking up having to go but grateful the bathroom isn't too far. Whew! I do feel bad I am taking meds though but my doctor said it's fine.

What I'm doing now is napping daytime, that's when I can rest the easiest, even if it's just for an hour.

I know everyone makes these jokes about how we won't sleep when our twins are born but at least then the pain will be gone along with the hobbling. Smile

How are you doing?

I completely understand the crazy nighttime routine and the hobbling at night. Some nights I wake up 10 x and can go back to sleep. Some nights I'll wake up at midnight and can't go back to sleep till 5am. I try to nap during the day when those happen. I've had quite a few 3 hr nights.

As for me, I was put on bedrest today - more signs of early pre-e. I put on 14lbs of water in the last week with swelling in legs, feet, arms and face. BP is still in normal range but higher than last week. Bloodwork from friday was normal but obviously my body is starting to fight against this pregnancy. My specialist wants to move my delivery up to 37 weeks. I meet with my OB monday but i likely will have babies end of next week.

I'm a little scared, the swelling over the past 2 days has been uncomfortable and worrisome. Don't know what is the ultimate cause but we will just rest and do what we can to keep these little buggers healthy.

I wake up lots too some times, lately I dread going to bed because I never know if it's going to be a good night or a bad night.

Sorry you're on bed rest, twins are definitely hard on our bodies. Sad I've known a lot of Mom's who have gone earlier because of swelling (pre-e), 37 weeks is what they say is full-term for twins though. My doc thinks I'll go into labor on my own but doubt it, never happened before that is but then again twins are different. I have to have a repeat c-section & my twins are towards my back. My doc won't schedule it till 37.5 weeks and I'm looking at her like she's crazy, haha.

Anyway, you are almost there...hang in there...and let us know what your doc says. It is definitely safer to have babies out early if it's pre-e.

Hang in there guys! You're both doing great. I remember getting super bad pain in my finger joints when I would wake up. It was pretty intense pain!

Do either of you have an exercise ball? I found that helped a TON with my hip pain, though it might aggravate it too, so be careful... and definitely have someone help you on/off! You guys are awesome... and both almost there! Smile I'm here if you have questions. :vibes:

Kim - I do have an exercise ball I sit on some days. Some days it helps, some not so much. I am just taking day by day right now.

I showed my DH your DHs blog..It was a timely time with his reflective post on what he would do differently. First thing my DH said was I should have taken better care of myself this pregnancy too.

Good luck with everything

Jennifer - what happened to your birth board. Mine is slow but keeps going, yours has not much activity at all. You should come hang out. We have one twin mom who already had hers (kjames) and Erica and I are both on the September board...

Yeah, it's a quiet/dead board, that happens to some birth months. I go see my Obgyn tomorrow for my weekly check up. I've been very emotional lately, hormonal I guess, not sure why now. Maybe it's just the crankiness of being pregnant with twins. Last night I had bad reflux again & awful gas pains that makes me bolt right out of bed. That's one thing I won't miss after birth!

You're both doing amazing and I promise, relief is quick. The only thing that didn't go away is the hunger and I think I'm still dealing with ICP but everything else is amazing. And I wouldnt worry about laying down on the OR table and not breathing. I'm asthmatic so had a very hard time breathing but I didn't even notice it on the table. Good luck to you and know that relief is in sight and you'll be holding your babes soon. Twins truly are blessings even if they are double the work Wink

Yes to all of this! You are all doing great, and the relief is coming. I agree about the OR table. I didn't even really focus on my breathing (other than I am 5' tall and the anesthesiologist said that he lowered the dose of what he gave me, but it may still make me feel sick or like I was going to pass out...I had to give him a nonverbal cue to let him to know to give me a different med to help with those feelings). Honestly, once you are numb, they have those babies out so fast that you won't have much time to think of much else. The good part is that they take pictures with the babies while they are closing everything up, so you don't have to focus too much on what the doctor is doing because they are showing you the babies and such. :bigarmhug:

Saw my doc, he's running some tests for anemia, thyroid, etc, since I'm having such an "off day", my blood pressure is a bit off too but cervix is closed, so that's good. Need to take a nap, that's how sick I feel, at least these two babies are doing fine though. Smile He's testing me for a stomach bug & did another fetal fibronectin test. Will know results in a few days. Off to pass out for awhile... he mentioned lots more bed rest.

Trust me rest when they tell you to rest!!! I hope you feel better. I started having really bad days periodically when I was about as far along as you. Rest - you can make it to 37...

They scheduled me for cesarean on Thursday morning. Oh my goodness am I terrified, excited, scared and thrilled at the same time. It is coming so fast!

Wow, a date! Don't worry, it's going to be alright. I've had 2 c-sections & here I am again going on my 3rd. It's not ideal, I know, but at 37 weeks Lucas & Olivia will probably need no NICU time and all will be well.

Too funny Krista - I have boxes and boxes of dipers from my shower and friends. I am grateful for that :).

Thanks Jennifer - any last minute advice prepping for my cesarean?

One thing I'm doing different this time is asking for anti-gas meds prior to c-section & sneaking in something to help me (TMI) go the next day or so. The last time they were sticklers about it. Sometimes we know our bodies better than the nurses do that is. Oh, make sure to walk around when able, it helps with the healing.

Jennifer- I hope that you start feeling better. I agree with the doc on rest. I don't know that it needs to be bedrest, but it definitely needs to be sitting down and relaxing. When I was too active near the end of my pregnancy, I paid for it. I would feel so blah and tired. My stomach also struggled to digest food near the end, so my stomach was upset sometimes. I just tried to eat snacks instead of meals, and that helped.

Yay for a date for the c-section. My advice is to move around as much as possible. Also, don't let yourself get past your set time to take your pain meds. Stay on top of the pain. Don't try to be tough either. Take the pain meds unless you have a reaction that worries you. With two babies to take care of, you need those meds! I had issues with my tailbone or a nerve in that area (I am not really sure) and it was intensely painful. I could not lay down or sit, which after having surgery, who wants to stand all the time? It made holding and feeding babies extrememly difficult and I was often in tears. I had hoped that I would not have that for the c-section with the twins, but it must have something to do with the operating table or the anesthesia since it happened with both my c-sections. Sad If that does happen to you, please make sure you are provided with adequate pain meds. I struggled with some side effects to my pain meds and my doc finally got a good med for me, as I was being discharged. Thank goodness for that.

I agree 100% with the moving as much as possible. Mine was an emergency c-section so I think they were a little rougher with me and my incision seems to be a little longer then other mommies, but I was still able to walk (slowly) to the NICU by the next day. The incision pain does make it harder to nurse because I found the pillow always rested there. I only took the meds a few times (they were actually forcing them on me) because the pain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I'm a firm believer in only taking medicine if it is truly needed. Good luck Tomorrow (omg, you'll have two babies by tomorrow or is it next Thursday?). Hang in there, you're so close.

Wow, so tonight was the 1st night I've gotten just 1 hour sleep! Sad

I've got the worst stomach ache ever mixed in with BH. I've taken Zantac, PepcidAC, Gas-X, Tums, nothing's helped. The gas pains just keep on going. So I got up, having a cup of tea now, will try to eat something to see if that will help. I did have (TMI) a BM, so it's not blockage. I'm just so miserable, if it doesn't stop hurting in a few hours, then maybe I'll head up to L&D again. I've never ever have had a stomach ache like this, don't think it is labor though.

Jennifer I'm so sorry. About where you are I started having similar issues. These are the things I tried to help before calling doctor.

1 ate something mild like oatmeal or crackers even if 2 am. I started to not be anle to go more than 4hrs without food or my stomach would cramp up and then reflux would go crazy
2 drink plenty of water, juice etc. note I had to cut out anything like apple juice that caused gas
3 ask doc if there is sleep help even if just one out go 5nights....the less sleep the worse my tummy was

I hope you feel better but go to L&D if you don't better safe than sorry

Thinking of you. Having trouble with time to post bu I'm here if there is any support I can give. I know how hard the time you are in is and you will make it through...

Thanks for the advice! Will try it. I'm also thinking it might be bowel obstruction, so I'll mention it tomorrow at my doctor appt. Glad to see you back online, I saw your other post.

Back from my appt, doctor says some women get a lot of problems with their stomachs, etc, towards the end, including (TMI) diarrhea. So basically, nothing is wrong except for everything getting squashed. She did say to limit dairy which I have anyway, no cravings for milk or anything. She said to eat very bland, small meals, like eggs & toast sort of stuff.

Now the funny part is that I come home to find my c-section booked for exactly 38 weeks, Sept. 27th. I'm LOL because I just spoke to her about booking it sooner because I've been having so many problems, so we'll see if they'll bump it up a few days. At 38 weeks, these babies will be 6-8lbs or more each, gulp! I am only 4' 10", already have to hold my belly up while sitting, there's literally no room left & even my stretch marks have stretch marks (haha). Yes, these two babies are happy as clams inside and will have to be evicted, that's for sure. It's just rather comical that I'm so tiny with such a huge belly that I feel like someone should invent something to help hold me upright...because I may tip over. Smile

So....I got my c-section moved up by 3 days, big whoop, LOL. Smile It's going to be 9/24 (a Monday). Last night and the night before, sleeping is impossible. Looks like that'll be the norm from here on out. No way am I going into labor on my own, if I do it will be a shock. With my boys, it never happened & I went to 41 1/2 weeks with my 1st before getting a c-section. I have babies who just need to be evicted, haha. Anyway, let the countdown begin.... Smile

Sarah, I know, we're so close now to the "finish line". You're 5 days ahead of me due date wise. Smile Are you going to go natural or book a c-section? My doctors say lots of women go into labor by themselves with twins around 36 weeks but you & me, nope! I keep making jokes about how they'll come out talking & walking.

I plan to do a home birth ........ ha ha kidding .... the pool we belong to offered a water birth too Smile However My c-section is booked for Sept 18th. My others were c-section, my first was an emergency and my 2nd was planned . This time I pretty much planned to have a c-sec and of cource one baby girl is breech and yes she could still turn but its unlikely!! My dr even checked me wed and no dialation. My specialist wanted me to deliver around 37 weeks(9-14) but my ob wanted to wait til 38 weeks so he decided to split the difference .As crazy as this sounds my subdivision as a huge garage sale on 9-15 and I really wanted to get rid of some crap I went thru this spring so I am pretty happy that I will more than likely still be prego and can do the sale.......

Mine were all c-sections too. My boy is the one who's breech, happy as a clam that way, so I feel like you do - that they will turn but doubtful. That's great you can still do the garage sale! Smile

Jennifer so happy you have a date. You can make it! The 24th is just around the corner. Spend as much time in a pool/tub as you can it was the only place that helped at the end. Fingers crossed for no complications before then!

Sarah you are almost tbere too! Before you know it yours will be 10 days old too and you will be wondering where the time went.
