Never thought I would be posting here :-)

As I am sure alot of you here didn't, lol! I found out Friday (at 28 wks...) I am expecting twins. A real shock since there is no history of twins on either side of the family. Needless to say, both dad and I are thrilled! The reason for finding out so late is due to relocating and changing doctors, and a lot of uncertainty about where we wanted to deliver.

My OB for my first two children is no longer practicing in Houston, so I had been seen for my first 3 appointments at our clinic. With moving and trying to decide which doctor to use, several weeks had passed. I decided to use my sister's OB and couldn't get a new patient appointment with him for 3 weeks. I was getting nervous, but really insisted on using him - feeling it was worth the wait. So my appointment with him was last Wednesday and Ultrasound on Friday. I had a funny feeling when the technician asked if there was a family history of twins..... because she saw two babies!

I look forward to seeing how everyone here is progressing, and I apologize in advance for the tons of twins/multiples related questions I will be asking... Smile

Congrats! Yahoo It is shocking to know that you are expecting twins, when you don't have history of twins in your family! it happened to me too! Smile

Do you know what you are having? are fraternal or identical?

Congrats and welcome to the world of twins. Thats crazy that you didn't find out till 28 weeks. I found out @ almost 10 weeks and I'm still in shock. Ask as many questions as you want, the ladies on here are amazing and have helped me out a lot.

I have to get this ASAP!

All we know, so far, is Baby A is a boy. Baby B was hiding. I was going to have an anatomy scan on Friday, but the tech said she wouldn't have enough time for both babies, so we have that scheduled for next week.

I am not really freaking out just super excited and feeling really blessed to have two babies on the way. I am still asking myself HOW?!?!?!?! But just like the tech said when I told her there was no family history... She said "there is now!" I did read an article (on slate.com) that gave some explanations for the rise in multiple births, so I guess maybe I fall into the older mom, more FSH category, lol. I just turned 33.

I guess I should update my ticker now. Trying to remember how to use Photobucket, so I can post a pic or two.

Thank you for all the congratulations! A late congratulations to you all, as well. It seems several of us are due around the same time.

It all depends. Fraternal twins tend to have the family history or older mom stat tied to them, although I am sure there are many families that are the first to have fraternal twins. Someone has to be the first at some point, right? Identical twins can happen to anyone. The splitting of an egg tends to be a random event. No family history needed there. Biggrin I hope the anatomy scan goes well. I loved it when they set the scan to check the blood flow in the cords. It was really neat to see the colors on the u/s machine. Maybe I am just crazy to think that is cool though. Biggrin
