New Here!

Hi!
I know this board has been quiet, but I wanted to introduce myself anyhow.

I am Tiffany, a 32 year old mom from Texas who is pregnant with her second pregnancy. Took 2 years and IVF to get here, and we are pregnant with fraternal twins. I am currently 7w3d along and we are excited but scared. I am the primary breadwinner in my family and we haven't told the new job I am starting in September yet. Hoping to avoid bed rest as long as possible. We are actually more scared about the pregnancy than raising twins, which is crazy.

We have a wonderful 3 year old son who will be 4 by the time they get here.

Anyone found any helpful books or websites I should look at?

Congrats and welcome. Avoiding bed rest is possible. I worked until 34 weeks and then delivered at 36. No best rest Smile HH9M

"When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets or Quads" By Dr. Barbara Luke. This book was always by my side and got me through my pregnancy!

Another I'd really recommend for after they're born is "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" It is an amazing book, and I don't think we'd be sane without it.

I hope your pregnancy goes well, and all three of you are healthy :vibes:

Thanks guys!! I can't believe it but I am "showing" already at 9+2. This is not my first pregnancy, the constipation is an issue, but I am all belly already. I know the uterus is not out of the pelvis, but it seems to have shoved everything else out of the way already. Maybe I am just crazy.

I was showing at my first u/s when we found out it was twins...and I was only 9 and 5. Showing early was the number one body change that made me think i might be having twins!

Welcome!! I also have IVF twins Smile Like you I have a toddler that just turned 3. This pregnancy has been completely different from his. I actually had to go out of work at 18 weeks and have taken it easy since. Don't over work yourself Smile

Just wanted to say I'm so glad those babies are still baking! I keep wondering how the babes are doing. I feel bad for you ladies because when I was pregnant this board was very active and it was awesome to have so much support. It's too bad it's died down for you ladies because it was a huge support for me. KUP posted on your progress.

I think that's because we were big complainers and got everyone out to complain. Biggrin

Agreed! Incredible!

But Krista ... don't you remember twin pregnancy? Sleeping stopped well before those babies arrive! (I would put a smiley face ... but it's not fun...)

Sleep has been a thing of the past for a very long time now!! My hips/pelvis hurt so badly I cant lay on either side more than just a little bit and I surely cant lay on my back! I wouldnt trade it for anything (but I also wouldnt complain if I did get a little sleep either) Wink

Tiffany,

Congrats on your twins! Very exciting but rough road a head. Things seemed to turn the corner for me after they were about 9mo old. It went from survival to actually enjoying them.

As far as work is concerned it is possible to work right up to the very end but everything has to work out just right. I was a lucky one who made it all the way until the day the boys were born. I left work at 2pm and had the twins by 6pm when I was 36 weeks and a few days. I really don't know how I did it but I made it. It was miserable though, so just be prepared.

Yeah, I know I am crazy for even thinking about that now - its funny the things you worry about at the beginning a pregnancy. I think my work will be fairly flexible about this and God knows we are never going to be pregnant again after this!

I am just lucky that my nausea seems to be subsiding already - last pregnancy I had morning sickness until at least 20 weeks. This time I am 12 weeks and seem to be getting a little relief - so weird considering it is twins. My next ultrasound is in 3 weeks. Looking forward to maybe really start planning/buying stuff after that.

Jennie, your babes were amazingly big for 4 weeks early! No wonder you did not go any longer!

If we can swing it, we are going to get a night nanny for twice a week after I go back. DH is probably staying home with them after I go back, and I think I am going to bring someone in a few hours a day to help. Honestly, I was very sleep deprived with my singleton but he slept much less than the average baby (still does - its genetic on the father's side - they just do not need sleep - WTF!). So, we already know that this is going to be bad- really, really bad and we are going to invest in whatever will preserve our sanity and marriage. I am not a super-mommy... just hope we can be good-enough parents and get through it.

I'm still working and I'm 34 weeks! Some days are harder than others, but I mostly sit, so it's just walking to fax, etc that sometimes gives me an issue! Good luck!

I worked till 34 and a bit but my job can be really labour intensive and my feet and back were done. My feet swelled so much I couldn't get them in my work boots! I delivered a week and half later. The main reason I went off a little early was more due to my cholestasis. You're all awesome for hanging in there this long. I know how hard it is just to get up in the morning, let alone work a 9 hr day. Good luck to everyone. Oh, and keep them baking as long as possible, they are a lot easier on the inside then out;)
