Sore/tender belly (31 weeks)

Hi, I have a quick question. Tomorrow I am 31 weeks pregnant with b/g twins and the past 3 days my belly has been sore. It hurts a lot and I just am baffled why. I am carrying big babies with extra fluid and I'm petite, so it's been very hard on me to start with. I've been drinking tons of water, staying off my feet. I can feel them move about, kick, so I think they are fine.

Is this some type of hernia or just pain from all the weight (stretching, etc)? I see my specialist on Monday which I can't wait because it's making me miserable. It feels...like bruised, not sure that makes any sense.

Thanks...

I can remember that feeling. I think it is just from stretching. Remember you are not designed to carry more then one. Hopefully that's all it is. KUP as to what the specialist says.

I'm just a few weeks ahead of you and have been having the same feeling on and off for about 6 weeks. Sometimes my belly feels bruised, sometimes just like muscles are tearing. Specialist says it's normal - 1st preg, twins and like you large babies and lots of fluid.

BTW CONGRATS!!! I remember all you've been through to get here.

Thanks Danielle Smile

I go tomorrow morning to talk to doctors. You must be so happy/relieved to hit 34 weeks! Smile My doctor said she'll be happy with 34 weeks and beyond. What I think I'll start doing is more couch rest, laying down that is, that may take some weight/pressure off the belly. Will also get checked for Preeclampsia.

I'm back from seeing the specialist, Boy is 4 lbs. 12 oz. & Girl is 4 lbs. So that's nearly 9 lbs of baby! Yikes! No wonder I'm struggling. Did I mention that I'm petite (short), even the nurses were uhm...shocked, haha, it actually was comical. Smile

Anyway, doctor said soreness could be contractions / pre-term labor, told me to call my Obgyn or head to L&D. The backaches, etc, are no surprise with their weights. The soreness, IMO, could also be that I've never carried this much weight before. My 1st son was 8 lbs. 3 oz., so this is more than him. Other than that, I'm healthy, cervix is closed, blood pressure is fine. Flying my Mother in Law out earlier than later now, just in case we head to L&D a lot.

SO much water helps a tiny bit with contractions.

Not once has my doctor thought my soreness was contractions. Le me know if it does turn out to be...That kind of makes me a little worried.

Yeah, I hear ya! When I go to the specialists, I see different doctors each time, and each one has different opinions. I see my Obgyn in a week and I'll ask her what she thinks, I'll let her know the soreness is ongoing now. I also had more BH's again today, which doesn't help any.

Sorry - I really started to have alot of discomfort around 31-32 weeks. The last couple of weeks have been difficult. Hang in there! Every day makes a huge difference.

Let me know what your OB says too!

My MFM said that the soreness was very normal. Contractions for me were very obvious becaues my entire belly became very taut and hard. The soreness I felt was all stretching. Between 36 and 37 weeks, I was very sore because I had a bad cold and Keira's head pushed into my belly button every time I coughed. It was so bad that there were times I took a hot shower and just sobbed. I made it though and so will you. :bigarmhug:

I get very sore too - my babes are almost 12 pounds combined. Sometimes it feels as though my stomach is going to rip!

Hang in there!!

Last night I went to L&D because I was having strong contractions that were close together. The doctor said that it's normal to have contractions a lot like that with twins, definitely wasn't in labor that is, not even a hint of going into labor. So she said to use those contractions as a baseline, meaning if they get extremely painful, then to head to L&D.

She also said the same thing, that the soreness is because of the stretching.

So yeah, I'm learning lots of new things here with twins & can't wait to meet these two even if it means a few more weeks of "grinning & bearing it". Smile
