Since so much of what I needed in the bag was every day stuff ipacked what I could then made a list of the last minute things to add. Worked great. Once we were told to head to hospital DH hopped in shower and I ran through the list. I stayed in a hosp gown the whole time, so much easier. As for babies we pretty much knew they would be in nicu so didn't bring anything at first.
Krista that's too bad about providing everything. When we got discharged Sunday they filled a bag of stuff to give us. Diapers wipes bottles formula - basically all the babies had used in the hospital. So very nice for getting us started.
As to diapers, buy newborns. I went searching and searching a few stores for preemie, and comparing prices and such. I bought Huggies Preemies, could not find any other brand, and they were the exact same size as Pamper's Newborn, and more expensive as well. But you definitely need newborns. My boys came at 36wks, 5lbs 6oz each, and they wore those newborns for at least 2 months.

I nursed my twins for 2years and 2 weeks!A little sad to be all done now.
All my diapers were newborns. However, my boys were big they were both over 7 lbs when born at 36 weeks.
I had bought enough newborn diapers to last 1 month (approx 500 diapers). I am glad I didn't buy too many more because they babies are over 8lbs now and the biggest one probably should move on up to size 1's but I want to make sure to use all the NB size diapers first.
Yeap, the average set of twins goes through 1,000 diapers the first 2 months of life.
and I can tell you, it is no joke. My twins are bottle fed (which are supposed to go less often than breastfed babies) go through at least 16 diapers a day. Assuming 30 days in a month, that is at least 480 diapers minimum.
