Hi girls!
I won't be able to chat and scrap this weekend. We're headed to a family reunion in a few minutes and then my whole family stays overnight at a resort. We'll be home tomorrow sometime! Have fun!!!

I had a late start this morning, because we were up until 1am. We ordered Kayson a toddler bed (he currently co-sleeps with us, so he's never had his own bed)
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5811290
and it should arrive to our Walmart in a week. So.....we got this small black desk to replace the huge, impracticle glass desk we've had in his room since before he was born.

doors open
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w77/ballembaby/P8021823.jpg
doors closed
Scott put the desk together and I rearranged all night. You know how one project leads to another? Well, I decided to go through all my DH's files (he's self-employed) and rearrange them into folders so they would fit neatly on our desk. That took 4 hours. Biggrin But everything is filed away and easy to access, if we have to.

This glass desk
http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w77/ballembaby/P8021829.jpg
was what we had sitting where the new desk sits. See how much room it takes up? And no shelves, so we would just stack things on it.

Can't wait for K's bed to arrive and start decorating HIS room.

what a great bed for Kayson! and boy, you were busy last night!

well, I don't know how my day will go. my DH is in a funk and I don't know how he'll be with the kids. Natalie is really cranky (she just ran out of her crying about a video tape). Jack is sleeping on me in the sling - I can't crop with him there because it's too much bulk in front of me. I just feel really overwhelmed right now ... I WANT to crop, but there's the crap that being a mom requires me to take care of (you know, emptying the dishwasher, washing diapers, helping the kids unpack from their visit with the grandparents). ay yi yi

anyhow, I have a list of 28 layouts to pick from and no plan for any of them. ha ha ha I woke up with a layout idea in my head but I didn't write it down (had a fussy newborn on me at the time) and now I can't remember it. grrrrrrrrrrrrr

so that being said, I will certainly be back off and on during the weekend, as much as I can be. if I can get five layouts done, I will be THRILLED.

Charys - can't wait to see what you come up with!

Ashley - have a great time! I love family reunions. But we'll miss you!

Good morning ladies!

Ashley hope you have a lovely time:D

Charys I love your new desk!..... and Kayson's bed too!

Gwen sorry you're feeling so overwhelmed. Just bring all the kids over to hubby and sternly tell him you are taking a long hot bubble bath because, darn it, you deserve one...then secretly scrap in there Wink

As for me I will be on and off....I don't have a clue what I will scrap but I will find something! lol. At the moment my new "scrapping room" isn't set up at all...I have no shelves or anything apart from a desk...maybe I can convince hubby to get two mini bookshelves when he goes out for the daycare one and I can use one in my room. lol...either way, at some point today I will share photos of the room and house...even if nothing much more gets set up:rolleyes: Looking forward to seeing everyone's lo's!:D

Gwen, I wish we lived closer. I say that all the time, but I would love to give you a break! Sorry you are feeling stressed this morning.

Karen, I can't wait to see pics of your new house!!

The first thing I want to work on this morning is my swap cards. Then some summer layouts. Hannah (the girl who is coming over to babysit/scrapbook) always likes making cards too.

Okay, so I have a lot more going on this weekend than I thought. We are trying to finish a project upstairs today. DH built a window seat and we are making cushions for it and throw pillows. Will get some pics of it up when I can.

Tomorrow we are having lunch with some old friends and getting a peek at their new house. I don't know how long it will take, but it's on the other side of the metroplex, so a lot of diving.

Monday I have to go in and do Professional Development for my school. I hate those workshops, but taking them in the summer means extra days off in the Fall so I try to get them out of the way early.

That being said, I am hoping to get some scrapping done in the evening times. I have a page that I've started that I need to fix (and probably make into 2 pages). I want to get her 6 month LO done, one for Fathers Day, Mother's Day and hopefully participate in a challenge or two. *Whew!* Hoping DH is in a cooperative mood all weekend.

Good morning girls, or afternoon, wherever you are! I might get to scrap a little this AM, if Tyler takes a nap soon before I have to leave for work (@ 1:30). Tomorrow, I might get more time since I don't work till 4.

Charys, is there a specific place to post our VC pages we do finish? Here? In a separate thread (my own thread or a shared thread where everyone can post their finished work)? I finished one page but won't have time for another one. I'm glad I got one done though. Smile And DH didn't question me at all. Yay!

Hello all! I just finished rearranging my office. What was I thinking when I decided to do it by myself? Boy, our furniture is heavy. Oh, well. I am please with how it turned out. I needed to get a table in our already cramped space. I recently quit my outside job in order to be a full time nanny/homeschooler! There have been some huge changes going on in my house and so it's left me little time to breathe much less scrap. I need to straighten up the house a bit and put the monster down for his nap. (It's already an hour and half overdue!!!!). Then, hopefully I will be able to sit down and push something out. I have a lot to do and I never made it to the store to get ink so I don't know how many pics I have to work with. I might have to make a few layouts without pics until I can get to the store.

Ok, I must step away from the computer and get to scrapbooking!!

Our houseplants are in the front of the house, and that front is gated off. Because our bookshelves are there too as well as my sewing area. Keeping the kids out of all of that is important to my sanity. But Natalie freakin' climbs the gate now. It's maddening! She ran out the front door yesterday. We have a swing lock up top that we weren't using, but now we're using it again. Andrew was the same way, we locked down everything in the house to preserve sanity. Both have gotten into the houseplants (I don't know if Jordan has).

And don't get me started on potty training. it's been a nightmare with Natalie. She promises she'll poop in the potty and she just doesn't do it. Had the WORST poopy diaper this afternoon (she's in cloth, so I really feel pain with it). Anyhow, sure hope Andrea's doing much better than Nat!!!!

Karen - good luck finding something to scrap!

Charys - LOVE the card!!

Aja - maybe you can start a "VC show and tell" thread? that way we can put our pages there together. challenge pages should be posted on those threads though.

Okay, so I started a page this morning, and am happy with where it's going. I need to finish it in the short time I have left to myself (as I spent a good time of Jack's nap folding diapers and having a serious talk with DH).

But I have a question I'd like you to answer. This is important to me. Turns out that DH needs more affection than either of us realized. I won't get into how this was discovered, but let's just say it's been painful and he's in a very sad funk right now. I don't know how to give him affection in new ways. That looks funny now that I've typed it. I can leave him notes in his work bag (and that's one of the things I actually plan on doing). But other things I've done in the past (buying treats I know he loves) aren't what he's looking for. I don't know what he's looking for and he doesn't know either. So I was wondering, what do you do for your husbands to show affection in non-sexual ways? I'm really struggling here, as we're going through something in our marriage that we haven't encountered before. Our marriage is good and strong, but now that we know there's something lacking, it needs to get fixed.

Thanks for letting me ask that here, as I'm sure this is a strange place for that kind of request for advice. Wink

Seriously pissed at DH right now... I told him I had other things to do and I didn't want to spend the entire day on the stupid pillows. So far? I've spent all day on the stupid pillows. And what pisses me off is that he keeps starting more instead of doing the other things around the house... like dishes and laundry and stuff. I told him we needed to stop for a while - I was tired of sitting in front of the sewing machine and pinning, etc. He told me no - we need to finish this today. I blew up at him and told him that if he would help out around the house maybe I could finish instead of having to stop to take care of everything else - and it's not like I didn't have other things I want to do!!! Grrrrrrr!!!!!

Sorry for the vent. I stormed out of the room and came in here to cool down.

Gwen, some ways I show affection (non-sexual) to Scott are cooking his favorite meals or try not to gripe at him if he's tired. Or rubbing his muscles at night.:bigarmhug: I know that's silly little things, but I think it makes a difference. Sorry you are going through a tough spot.

Gwen, I too have found out that my husband is more sensitive to how I show my affection than I had originally thought. I have begun leaving him notes in the morning. I also text him while he is at work with a pic or story about what the kids are doing. Then I ask how his day is. He likes to know that I think of him. Also, he loved it when I had T.J. make some art for him and when DH came home, T.J. was so excited to give daddy his "present". He likes it when I rent a movie that I know he wants to see and make a point to sit down and watch it with him. It's hard to show a man that you care because they are not easy like women are. If he bought me flowers or came home and said let me take you out for dinner, I would just melt.

Carrie, sorry your DH is not on the same page as you. Guys sometimes have a one track mind. DH likes to think of Saturday afternoons and Sundays as his time to do errands and chores but I would prefer to use that as me time. Just calm down and let him know that while you appreciate his eagerness, that is not what you had planned for today and suggest an alternative.

thanks for the ideas. sounds like we think alike. the text messages is a great idea! we finally signed up for a text plan so I should use it. my DH doesn't really like to talk much about his day at work though. btw, the office looks great!

Charys - I pointed out that I make our meals based on his likes but he doesn't really think of that as affection. Men!

Carrie - sorry about the painful day with DH and the pillows. There's so much that has to get done around our house, and DH and I don't always see eye to eye on the priorities. But since I'm doing a bit of scrapbooking, I can't blame him for not doing house stuff either.

My two year old is pitching a fit and I think we're going out to dinner. So I will disappear for a while. Cross your fingers that I can come back when the kids are in bed. I'm itching to do another layout! (I posted my first one in the show and tell thread - I could have made it into challenge 2, but I had already decided to do it before I read the challenge (fell into CASE and the new technique was the stitch rub-ons that I've had for ages but have never used - I dig it!)

Love your scraproom Nancy!!! Especially the game table set up for scrapbooking. I can't to have that one day......

The text messaging is a great idea too for your hubby. I need to do that too. Guys are different and keep their feelings hidden so much more than us. It's hard to tell whether they think they are being left out. (Or atleast it's hard for my DH to open up.)

Off to check out the galleries...I just finished a page myself.

Woah, I made that Bingo challenge way too hard. (LOL, or I'm just a wimp!) I tried to make my Sleepyhead layout every which way into a Bingo layout, but gave up!!

My washer machine just went kaputz. Sad ARGH! The water line going into the wash just broke somehow and water is sprayed everywhere. Guess I need to call a repairman first thing Monday. Hopefully they won't have to order the part. I hate letting laundry get backed up. Sigh.

Thanks for the comments about the office. It started out office. Then it became a guest room/office. Then I got into scrapbooking. Then I started homeschooling the kids! I'm gonna get a tall bookshelf to go against the wall between the desk and bed. That will help me organize my scrapbooking stuff and have the kids homeschooling stuff all together. I definitely like being able to use the table now. It was just sitting in our garage. I needed it so the kids could have a work space so now I have one too!!!

Sorry about the washer Charys! I hated it when my dryer went out but I can't imagine having the washer go. Hope it gets fixed quickly!

DH and I go through phases. I get all stressed out and short tempered. He then gets all moody because he says that I am not very affectionate. Well duh! I'm stressed out!! Anyway, I have to physically remind myself to do these things because honestly I get so caught up in the day to day. DH likes to think his "surprises" are a show of affection but they bug me to no end!!! He surprised me with a refrigerator for our anniversary. I had been wanting a new fridge because our seal was going out but I definitely wanted a say in what we got. So, needless to say, I am happy with my shiny black refrigerator but I would have rather had the brushed metal. I'm now in the process of having to completely redo our kitchen theme to go with the new appliance. It's irritating but at least he tried.

Gwen, my hubby thinks that it is more pressure than love when I make special dinners for him. I still try to do it anyway sometimes, but I know what you mean.

Hi all! Sorry I'm not around much today. I spent all this time just cleaning, taking care of Andrea (lots of carpet shampooing the pee out of our living room), and downloading the huge zoo kit (which I'm finally done downloading!)

we had grilled hot dogs and frozen (well, heated but previously frozen) broccoli & cheese for dinner. going out was too much for us. plus Jordan crashed and is STILL sleeping 3 hours later.

I went grocery shopping, and don't know if I will make it to do another layout tonight. my head has been hurting all day. Sad

Aw, Jordan must have been tired. Bless her heart! K has only taken one 3 hour nap that I can remember in the last year, so that must be heaven.
Love your siggy too Gwen! So sweet!

I just got back from dropping Hannah off at her parent's house which is 20 minutes away. She made this card, which I thought was so good for a 12 yr. old!

I hope to get one more layout completed tonight after DH gets home. He is still out working.

Finally checking in now too. I just finished the book I got this morning. I couldn't put it down. I am absolutely exhausted or I'd be scrapping right now. I stayed up till 3 am reading (got the book at 12am) woke up and have been reading it ever since! Biggrin

Anyways, if I am not too tired tomorrow, I will join you ladies. I hope I can. I NEED to scrap! Biggrin

Sadie - I sure hope you DO join us tomorrow! Heck, I hope *I* join us tomorrow!! Lol

I'm really tired, it's been a rough day. I really wanted to do another layout, but no dice. I'm hoping I can get a stretch of a couple hours tomorrow to do a couple layouts. But DH needs to do yardwork and the big kids have been starving for parental attention. *sigh* The good news is that the big kids are in camp on Monday, and if Jack naps, Natalie can watch some tv while I do a couple more layouts while we're still doing the VC. Cause once the VC is over, I need to focus on sewing some more diapers and covers for little man as he's outgrowing his newborn diapers! He was 10lbs10oz on Thursday, can you believe it?!

Hey Sadie! Guess what? i'd been checking at our library daily to see if those Meyer books had been returned. they were **supposed to be returned on July 31st, so I drove straight to the library thinking "great, they'll be there!". Someone had already checked all of them out right before me!! UGH! So they put a hold on them for me. But I probably won't get them for two more weeks. Sigh!! I can't wait to read them. They must be really great.

Gwen, sorry today was rough! You amaze me with how much you do get done with everything! And Jack is loving that booby milk! Biggrin Wow, 10 lbs. already?! WTG momma!!!!

Ok.....8:54pm and I'm finally going to start playing with paper! UG!

To the affection thing...with DH I do leave notes in his lunchbox, sneak dark chocolate (his fav) in there too, rub his shoulders etc. He also likes it when I show affection in public...even if it is just holding hands or arms around each other when going to the store. We talk a LOT about our days and honestly listening and actively discussing is important to him. I make a lot of the things he likes, but I don't really go far out of my way..I like to do this kinda stuff so it is easy.

Okay, so we didn't get everything done that we wanted to do today but both of us got some things done. Smile I finished the cushions and a bunch of throw pillows for the window seat. DH stuffed them for me. (He's not great with the machine so I did most of the actual sewing.) I'll have to take pictures tomorrow and show you. I think it turned out nice. Not what I would have done, fabric-wise, but DH picked it all out so

DD was in a funk today and DH couldn't understand that she needed extra attention. He kept putting her in her swing or exersaucer when she just wanted to be held. When I would stop to hold her (and try to put her down for a nap) he would either be so loud she wouldn't sleep or ask me why I wasn't working. We need to have a talk about her coming first...

Happy to say that DD is in a very pleasant mood this morning! She is squealing and laughing and talking to the animals on her exersaucer right now. Smile I don't think I'll have much time to scrap today b/c we are going to a lunch thing and then over to a friends new house. Maybe I can get something done tonight...

Even though scrapping has taken a back seat to unpacking from our move...

"I, Karen, do solemnly swear to at least post photos of the house at some point today" As soon as dh gets his butt outta bed and gets helping me unpack. lol. He's been great about putting all the safety equipment up/in for the daycare. You can tell he gets a kick out of being "the protector" Smile
