Acrylic Layout "Counting down to 2009"!

Yep, it's me and acrylic again.
I had to scrap these photos of our [dull] New Year's tradition. LOL
Journaling reads:
10.........9.........8...set the camera's timer..7........6...run back to family standing in front of TV...5.........4...hold smiles...3...........2...tell Kayson to look at the camera...1...Happy New Year!!!
Ok, so maybe not the most exciting New Year tradition, but to me it couldn't be better! Spent wiht the two people I love most in the world: there's no better way to ring in the new year than that!

I wrote the journaling with a Sharpie marker so it won't smear. I figured that was ok, since it wasn't touching the pictures.

The "2009" and clock are both from Graphically Speaking. The owl (adorable huh?!) is from Wild Card.

Had so much fun on this layout! I feel like it came together so quickly and is so "me", if you know what I mean? TFL

I think this is one of my favs of yours! I don't think that tradition is dull at all!! At least you have the guts to keep Kayson up till midnight! LOL I won't even venture that road.

oh we usually have to wake him up! This was the first year we let him stay up that late and only because he didn't actually fall asleep! Thank you for the compliment!

I really love this LO. I like the b&w and color pic, love the cute owl, and the clock too!

Is the clock on Wildcard? I have an idea and a clock would be great. I love the idea of the transparency, only when you put it in a album, can you even tell its there?

Great LO Charys!

I really like that! I would never think to overlap things (like the way you have the clock over part of the year) - I am going to challenge myself to do that, because I really like the way that looks!

Gosh, I soooo wish you were close to me to show me how you do that, and you say it was easy??? LOL It's soooo great Charys...really just LOVE it!! I am trying to figure out how you did it and am at a loss. The transparency is just laid on top of that background and then the pics and the journaling and the cut outs are laid on top of it? So it looks clear??? So cool! Did you rip the transparency, or tear I mean? LOVE it so much...it's so good. TFS

Great LO Charys!

the clock is from Graphically Speaking....let me know if you want one and I'll cut if for you in the colors you want (if I've got them). LOL, well, you can tell a little that it's transparency, but it helps to know after it's in an album. Wink

What I did was take an 8.5x11 inch transparency sheet and used that like my regular layout page (that you would for any layout), and just built on top of it. I cut the border frame (the blue and green piece) from a piece of 12x12 I had (I measured a 8.5x11 inch rectangle and marked it then just cut the inside out). Then I distressed the inside edges with sand paper and adheared the border down on top of the transparency base. Then I layered my pictures, title and embellishments on top, wrote on the transparency with my Sharpie (so it would dry immediantly and not smear) and voila! Smile It really was a more simple layout and I love the result too.

Thank you all for the compliments! They mean a lot! Also, PLEASE let me know if ANY of you want the owl or any other cut!!! It's not a problem at all for me to cut them out for you!

That is really neat! I love the frame, and the little critters! Do you make the little "marks" on the owl and the clock or does the cricut do it for you?

You wake him up and he's not owly? Wow. WTG Kayson.

This is GORGEOUS. It's a great tradition. Shoot, any tradition that people actually keep is a wonderful thing to me. You convey it so well with this page though! I really like the torn inner edges and the window look. It's a window in time into the New Year- how creative!

Again, thank you all! Zene, yes it cuts the marks out and everything. I just cut them again and layered them in a different color paper.

LOVE IT!!!

that's a great tradition, I don't think it's dull at all. and I like how you did the whole page on the transperancy. Wish I had 12x12 of the stuff (I have a TON of 8.5x11)

and I totally dig that owl ... okay, owl is on my list of requests. Wink I seriously need to look at those carts because I really do want some cuts. but I'm really diggin' the owl.

Thanks Gwen! I wonder if they have transparencies in 12x12? Maybe at twopeas?

What color/size do you want your owls? In order to layer the feathers, i'll send you two different colors of the same size.
