My friend's DD is turning 1 next month. I was going to make her wooden letters that spelled her name and was all proud of myself, until I found out that they already had them So now I can't think of anything to give her. I would kind of like to make something but am completely drawing a blank. I found a pattern for a sock monkey that cracks me up and I would like to try, but I'm not so sure that I want to give it to this little girl.
Do you knit? You could make her a hat
Other types of puppets if you don't want to do the sock monkey
A photo frame for her room
A painted door hanger for her room or even a picture like Nancy (sorry if it wasn't her) did on canvas just the other day?

I like the book idea! Someone (on my bb, I think) had made a color book using her son, i.e. wearing specific color clothes or eating/playing with something of a color. It was very cute!
I like the book idea. I'll have to see what I can come up with.
They live in a 2 bedroom apt. and she shares her room with her 3 yr.old brother. So I know that they don't have a lot of space. Keep the ideas coming!
You could make a book for her Mom to put pictures of family and friends in for her to learn their names. I took pictures of all our family and intended to do that for Xavier and didn't get it done! Thought it was a great idea though. You could scrap little pages and leave a space for the picture and for her mom to be able to write the names under them.
If you like painting a customized photo frame with her name on it would be pretty cool.
