Aug. VC Challenge #4 "Sunset"

I want you to create a layout using the colors in a sunset. Oranges, reds, purples, lavender, hazy blues, whatever colors you see out your window as the sun is setting. I am always inspired by nature because I think you can't beat the color combos there. Biggrin

Post a picture of your LO here by midnight, Monday August 4th and you're name will be entered into a drawing for a prize.

Oooh, this is a good idea. I was worried you were going to make me scrap an actual sunset, and I just don't scrap nature pics, but the colors are great.

So here is my version and I took the challenge quite literally.

Underneath the photo is a flap with journaling. This is what it reads:

My new beginning started with a sunset. After my wedding rehearsal I rode with my best friend Kelley to the rehearsal dinner. As we were leaving the church, Kelley remarked on how beautiful my last sunset as a single woman was. So, we drove, chasing the setting sun and reliving old times. Finally, when we could chase no more, she took this picture. Even though I was late for my own rehearsal dinner, this is one of my most cherished memories. NBM

I had fun with this one using lots of torn paper. I used mulberry paper for the sun and rays. I used chalk to haze the sky and I used a vellum quote from a baby package, covering the buttons with little flowers.

That is an incredible layout Nancy!!! You more than rocked this challenge! The story behind the photo is so full of emotion and I love the layers of torn paper and sun. Wow.

Here is mine Smile

I am kind of stuck in a very clean cut rut look. But to me, these are the colors of the sunset. I tried to do a play on words with son/sun but everything that I came up with was tacky. PS, I love buttons Smile

Sadie - what a sweet page! you're right, not much green in a sunset. Wink

Nancy - love this! what a great story behind it and I love how you took the challenge literally!
