    Default Backing up photos/files

So, DH talked me into installing Mozy on my computer to back up files. You get 2.5GB free space when you sign up. Well, that's not quite enough - I'm backing up the photos I've deemed good enough to print plus documents (such as my memory journals of the kids and their birth stories). I can sign up and pay to get more, but why pay if I don't have to. For every four people I refer to Mozy, I get another GB. Please help me get more space. And it's a win-win for you too, because you get to backup stuff in case of a crash. Everything is encrypted before it gets backed up, your data is safe (believe me, my DH would not have me use something like this if he thought it wasn't protected).

Here's the link https://mozy.com/?ref=4H82DM - but you have to actually perform a backup with the software for me to get the credit. Then pass it on to your friends and families so you can get more space too.

I've been using this for several months now, and it's caused no issues with my computer at all, in case you're worried.

This is the only board I've posted this on. I'll probably post it on the Jan06 board too for kicks, but thought I'd start here first.

    thanks!

2.5 gb? that's like the size of one week to one months worth of photos for me. but glad you are backing up stuff! we have backed everything to jungledisk. It works great! We pay for it but its pretty cheap and the uploading took quite a while (over 100gb worth of pictures for the past 4-5 years) and it checks my computer all the time to see if there are more pictures that need uploading

for just the 2.5GB it had to run overnight.

and I agree, 2.5GB is nothing. I am only backing up the tiniest fraction (which is why I picked just the photos I've had printed, which is silly since Costco has them online). that's why I need you ALL to sign up with my link so I can have more space.

I really need to back up, but I really need an external drive. 2.5gb would be absolutely nothing for me, even if I got a few people to sign up, wouldn't really help! I already have 80GB filled on my computer! Just my folder of my nephew's pictures is 5 GB!

    Sorry I'm not much help!

my Pictures drive only goes back to 2006, and has 99.5GB worth of photographs on it. the online backup is good in case of a fire - a removable harddrive won't help me if I lose the house. anyhow, I know I won't get 100GB in free space, but if I can get up to 10GB, then my most favorite of everything can be backed up online. that's what I'm about.
