    Default BIG trip/event!! Thoughts....?

So, I am turning 40 at the end of next week What started out as kind of a joke between me and one of my pg.org friends has now turned in to us leaving for ENGLAND tomorrow to celebrate (and meet her) LOL We just hatched this crazy plan about 4 weeks ago, invited my mom to join in (since she'd wanted to come here for my birthday), bought our tickets and are getting on the plane... I can hardly believe it!

I've only been scrapbooking for a little less than a year now. I've mostly done baby books--one for a friend of our kids' first year growing up together, a baby book of P's first year of life for each of the grandparents, a book of Christmas for MIL (we spent it with her).......

My question--do you ever go into a big event thinking about how you want to scrap it? LOL I actually need to work on a birthday present for my bff when we return so I won't have time to work on a book right away, but I am already wondering what I'll do

Did I mention that this is pretty much my dream trip (I've wanted to go since I was 8!)?? Oh, except that we are only there for 10 days.... I am BEYOND excited!

First off, I just want to say YEAH for living one of your dreams! I am sure you will have an amazing time! Can't wait to see photos!

I haven't had any BIG events to scrap yet. I plan on scrapping my next pregnancy in it's own book. I don't really have any advice....sorry. BUT, I do look at every event in our lives, and think of ways to scrap it.

Congrats on going on your dream trip!

I would just encourage you to enjoy it, but take lots of pictures! And don't forget to get someone to take group pics of all of you (don't hide behind the camera!).

Personally, I don't process things fully until some time has passed. So I don't think I could go into something with an idea of how to scrap the event. I need time to reflect.

Enjoy and don't forget to come back and share pics!

Wow first off let me say how insanely jealous I am. I've only been once but that ws 13 years ago. I'd love to go back as an "adult" and do more things and enjoy it more.
2ndly, keep everything. Airplane tickets, bus rides souveneirs, buy postcards and then if you can find where those places are, take a picture with you and your friend and your family in the same spot that the postcard was taken.
3rd, Bring a jaket. The one time I went there was a heatwave of 80 degrees or so, but it still got very chilly in the evenings. This is England the land of fog.

Have a great time and be safe! Say hello the the Queen for me.

Ali Edwards has the coolest ideas for travel journals. It would be PERFECT for England!!

Oh how fun! I hope you have a fabulous time!!

Ditto the pp on keeping everything. Tickets, brochures, tourist info, can all make for great scrapbook stuff...or can jog your memory about stuff later.

My only other piece of advice is to jot your itinerary or just general memories down. It is amazing how fast those details fade in my memory! And if you don't get scrapping right away chances are you will forget stuff.

That is wonderful! I'm currently in the process of trying to scrap our England trip (2005) and it is hard because I don't remember enough details, so don't wait too long to scrap it. You are going to have a wonderful time. I love the public transportation over there.

Wow, what an awesome trip! I agree with the others to jot everything little thing down so you don't forget anything! I can't wait to hear all about your trip and see lots of pictures!

Thank you all for sharing my excitement! About 12 hours now until we get on the plane--it feels like a dream! I don't think I will sleep AT ALL tonight LOL

I got a little photo book with peel back pages, partially for P's entertainment and partially for our stuff I also have a plastic sleeve to keep track of stuff--thanks for the reminder to grab those!

Ashley, that's an adorable journal! Unfortunately, I don't have time to make one tonight (although, if I hurry up and pack.....) but I have one to take... maybe I can embellish it later....?

Oh, and I can't wait to pick up my swap cards at the PO when we return

WOW, HOW COOOL!!!!! I'm insanely jealous!!! I think it's awesome that you are meeting a PO girl too. You are going to have so much fun!

I love the travel journal that Ash shared from Ali Edwards. That would be perfect and allow you to capture the memories as soon as you are making them. (And not forget the little details)

Be safe and have the time of your life. Take lots of pics, so I can live vicariously through you.
