Has anyone ever been told their uterus is 'bulky' or 'unusually large' during a routine physical? I had my physical earlier in the month but AF showed up unexpectedly and I had to postpone the pap til yesterday. First he said my cervix was irritated and we'd see what was up with that once he got the pap results back (and side note, I bled a lot more than usual for that procedure). Because of that, he did an internal and felt my stomach, etc (which HURT when he pressed so hard to feel everything) and said that my uterus was 'unusually large' and he didn't know what was up with that (LMP was May 11 so even if I am pg, it wouldn't have changed my uterus that much yet), so he's sending me for an ultrasound. The earliest I can get in is June 24th, and the requisition form for it says the problem is 'bulky uterus'.
I'm never heard of this - anyone know anything about it or what could cause that?
Trina, out of all my trips to the OB and RE office, I have to say that is a new one for me.
I've had the lining of my uterus and cervix to get too thick and they did a D&C for that but it was never termed "bulky" to me.
Let us know what you find out and I'll be praying that its nothing to worry about. My guess is its not or they would have gotten you in much sooner. I know it stinks to have to wait but I've learned that if its something they are fearful about they get you right in.
Thanks Kelly! I've had AF 3 times since April 3 (starting Apr 3, Apr 21, May 11) so I don't see how I could possibly have the lining too thick, but you never know. As for the wait - that's standard around here. Our health care may be free, but there is ALWAYS a waiting period, whether it's an emergency or not
I haven't heard the term either, very strange. but I'm glad that you're getting the ultrasound, even though you have to wait a bit for it.

No, i've not heard of it either. Hopefully the ultrasound will give you answers! I can sympathise with the aiting list issue too, it's the same here on the NHS.
