C-Section and hernia question (OT XP) *update*

Hello out there! I'm still here! I miss you ladies, but things have been a little crazy lately.

I had two c-sections with my girls, one in Jan of 08 and one in Mar of 09. I have had the paragard IUD in since May of 09 and have had no problems (except a heavier periods, which I expected). In August of 10, I started having sharp pain on my left side right under the scar during my period. It stopped when the period stopped. It happened again in Sept, Oct, and Nov. After my Nov period, the paid didn't stop and was accompanied by a sharp headache on my right side right where my head meets my neck. The headache lasted 3 weeks with little relief and the other pain lasted through my Dec period and became so bad that I couldn't move much without severe pain. I went to my GP who ran some bloodwork and did an exam and came up with nothing. He suspected something hormonal and referred me to my gyno. Last week I saw my gyno and he suspects a hernia along the c-sec scar. He referred me to a surgeon who I am seeing on Monday the 17th. The hernia wouldn't explain my headache, but that could have been stress related (it was the holidays, my parents had just announced they were separating, I was working 2 jobs and basically being an only parent since DH was working until after the girls went to bed).

Anyway, my question is, has anyone dealt with anything similar to this? My gyno said it wasn't uncommon, but I know a lot of ladies who have had c-secs and I've never heard any of them complain about this kind of pain. Anyone had hernias removed/ drained before? What kind of recovery time might I be looking at?

Thanks for any help/ suggestions

Hmmmm .... I have never heard of that, but it makes sense! So are they sending you for surgery to fix the hernia? I'm assuming it would be from Dylan, as they would have fixed it had it been from Scout? As you know I've been having the same pains, but for different reasons. I hope the surgeon can give you an answer! Hugs!

I have heard of hernias from pregnancies before, I just have never experienced it nor do I know what the surgery is like. I hope it isn't too bad!

Update: It's defiantly a hernia and I'm going to have lap surgery to correct it. It looks like I can wait until Spring Break (March 14-18) so now I wait for the scheduling guru to call me. Yippee. AF showed today and I'm in pain, but not as much as last month.

PS - changed my siggy pics. Wink
