clear stamp question...

So I've never really used stamps before, but you ladies have moved me:)

I found some cute "sayings" that are clear stamps. There are 4 on the sheet. I pulled the backing off and cut the 4 stamps apart, so they were easier to use. Was I supposed to do that? The ink I got said it's for clear stamps, it's kind of a silver color. Can I use other types/colors of ink?

Any help/suggestions are appreciated!

you can cut them apart. are you using a clear stamp block? clear stamps need to be used on a stamp block (usually sold seperately) they basically "cling" to it and you can easily hold onto it and see where you're stamping. you can use whatever type of ink you want on your stamps!

Nope, no block. Didn't see that:) I left other sheet of plastic on, so I'm kind of holding on to that. I'll be shopping for a block and some more inks!

Yes, as Ash said, you'll need an acrylic block like this

You can re-use it with all your clear stamps, though I like to a have a couple on hand. I've also noticed the $1 section at Target always has the acrylic blocks, though they are a little thinner they work great.

You can use any color ink you like. Almost all my stamping is done in black ink, then I can color what I want/if I want to.

Good luck! These clear stamps are sooo addicting!!!
