A color question

I plan to do a thread where I share everything I've done for Jack's room ... I was waiting until I was done everything, but maybe I should do two different threads, one for the wall canvases and one for everything else.

Anyhow, there are four 12x12 wall canvases, each a different color. You can see them here, and that's what I'm posting about.

The canvases are already painted, and are under the papers here. The paper is what I want to do each letter with. The green canvas/blue paper would be J, then next is A, C, and K.

What I'm wondering is, are the paper colors too muted? The canvas colors are bright, and when I put bright papers, it seemed to be too much. There's a Cars character that will go on each square, and each character will have a "shadow" cut from the letter paper of that square (so Lightning McQueen will be cut from the blue for the J with the green canvas background - Lightning is already cut and put together, and looks really good on the blue, Mater is done and looks good on the orange). But I guess I just wanted some validation before I take that next step and cut out the huge letters. I don't have duplicates of this paper, and I'm such a Scrooge when it comes to my 12x12 paper. ROFL

Can you even tell what I'm asking from this photo?

No I think you're right on and the colors work perfect. I totally understand what you mean by using bright paper on the bright background was kind of overkill.

You are making one awesome room. I'm definitely using you as inspiration when we move to our next house Smile

I agree, stick with the colors you chose...if you went with brighter papers it'd be too much. Those are going to be cute! and since you are shadowing the cuts, it'll make them stand out even more. Can't wait to see the completed project!

I want to see it when you finish. You've been hard at work on that room for a bit so I'm sure Jack is going to be so excited. I agree with everyone to use the tones you picked.

I can't help but think of little Isaiah when you said Cars. That kid watched that movie nearly every day why he was with us. And Praise the Lord for helping my heart to heal so I can remember some smiling moments with that sweet boy.

Sorry, bit of hijacking there! Smile

Did you finish these, Gwen? I am doing something similar in Evan's room and I would love to see your finished project! Smile

Not yet ... it's actually on my things to do list for today. Not to finish, but to make more progress. Had to take a break as I was behind on photography edits that I needed to get to clients. Dying to get his room done though!
