    Default cricut user question????

Ok, so I haven't had my cricut that long and have only used it a few times, but notice everytime I peel either the plastic cover or paper off the mat, the sticky glue comes off. I'm sure over time and usage, it will come off. But it seems like already a lot of the glue has come off. Is this normal "wear and tear"? How soon have you had to replace your cutting mat? Thanks for your info!

yeah I did that too until I realized I had my plastic on the wrong side, just flip it over. You can also mark that topside of plastic with a permanent marker so you know which side is up. I've had my cricut since January and I haven't had to replace my mat yet, of course I don't use it everyday but last time I used it I cut titles for 50+ lo's. Using a baby wipe on the mat will extend the life a little.

Theres a top and bottom side? Really? And I'm confused as how a permanent marker would help me see the top and bottom as it's completely clear and I could see right through. It would still look like the top was the bottom and vice versa.

If you write a word on the plastic, you will want to put the correctly spelled word face up rather than the mirror image. I've also used spray adhesive to get a few more uses out of my mat. After a lot of use though the mat begins to warp and you should definitely replace it then.

I had the same problem, I didn't know there was a top and a bottom side, I wrote on mine this side up just to keep the dust off of the sticky part.

I can tell which side is the sticky side on the plastic cover b/c there's still glue stuck to it. I'm just saying as I continue to peel either paper or the cover off, that glue comes off everytime. It just seems like it's too soon for so much glue to already come off. The spray adhesive is a good idea!!

What kind of spray adhesive and where do you get that? I've gone through so many mats already. I need any help I can get.

I've wiped my mats with baby wipes when they get funky and less sticky, and that seems to help. I only replace mine when they're close to being cut all of the way through. I've replaced mats twice in the past year, I think. I haven't had the issue of the sticky stuff coming off on the plastic cover, but I've also been making sure I put the right side down (and I know it's the right side because of the little bit of glue that's been on it since day one )

I think the pp was saying that the plastic cover has a right and wrong side, not the sticky mat. One side is slicker than the other. If you put the not so slick side onto the sticky mat, it will pull off some of the sticky.
