Digiscrappers -- how do you organize?

Well, I've ordered my Scrapbook Factory (btw, there's a $10 rebate on the program right now so final cost for me will be $22! I bought mine through Amazon.) and I'm waiting impatiently for it to arrive.

And I've been a downloading maniac with freebies! I've put it all into one file for now. But it has tons of subfolders and tons of just misc. files.

So my question is, how do you organize your files? What can I do to get myself organized enough to import anything I want into Scrapbook Factory and be able to tell what I've got available to use??

Thanks in advance!

I just started digi-scraping myself so I'll be interested to hear what others say!

I have a folder on a HUGE drive dedicated to digi scrapbooking. for the most part, I have it arranged by kit - each folder is the name of the kit. it does get overwhelming, but that's the best way I've thought to do it. most of the kit embellishments and papers seem to work best together, although there have been times I mix and match.

I also have a folder for each of these: quick pages, papers, frames, tags - these are for the random downloads of just those things.

Then, because I have a TON of holiday stuff, I have a folder just for holidays, and then in that it's broken down into kits.

in the future, I might make folders for boy vs girl and put the relevant kits there. sometimes I want something with more boy colors (or vice versa) and it's a pain to go through my 100s of folders looking for options.

but honestly, I'm not sure there's a really good way to really organize it all.

I have saved everything on my hard drive to disc just in case (I have had my entire comp wiped out before). So I have folders on my hard drive for each disc (i.e. christmas, halloween, etc....) Then I printed contact sheets of each disc(folder), labeled the page with the disc name(which is the same as the folder name), and placed those in page protectors and into a 3-ring binder. I think it is a huge pain to click my life away looking for the perfect paper or element. So now I just open my book find the pic of the paper I want a go right to the proper folder.

Wow, I hope that isn't confusing, but I don't know how else to explain it.
I'll try to take some pics of my book tomorrow and show you what it looks like.

This is an ongoing process. I had goals to do more, but when you are constantly downloading so much, it needs to be relatively easy to manage daily.

My system is pertty much like the above ones.

I have a drive deciated to scraps. In that drive I have different files:
Mega kits
Mini kits
Embelishments
Backgrounds
Quickpages
Templates
Wordart
Overlays
.... you get the idea

Inside those folders are usually other folders. For example, within the megakits folder I have a folder for each individual megakit. I try to title them so I know what they are. Within my quickpages folder, I have two seperate folders for the different size quickpages that I get.

It is a pretty basic system, but it is easy for me to maintain each day. It can be frustrating to find things once in a while. I was going to print out index pages for my files, but it is just to hard to do and keep up with since I download so many kits and freebies.

I basically do what everyone else has said Smile I still need to organize some more but I can find things right now. I've been downloading freebies like crazy too! there are so many great ones out there. I have yet to use a kit though for one page. I always mix and match and sometimes, especially lately, I've been making my own backgrounds and frames and paper cutters. Smile Still working on embellishments though.

I have scrapboo max but before that I was considering scrapbook factory.. But the way I have it organized, is simple.. Embellishments, Papers and Alphabets... And then I just go from there. I don;t think I have ever used a kit on one page.. I love to mix and match, so that makes it easier for me.

I'm so different from some of you. I love kits and don't often mix and match.
