I'm an idiot, I just can't seem to figure out Elements. I'm a freakin' computer professional (at least I was in my past life, before SAHMood two years ago), but for some reason I can't get a handle on it.

Do you recommend any tutorials? There's a ton out there, I don't want to waste my time watching lame ones (already watched one lame one today). I just don't have extra time!

DH is out of the country again, gone for three weeks. I really need to use my free time wisely ... of course my to-do list is insane, and I have clothes that need to be folded. But I want to figure this out so I can better edit some of the Mother's Day pictures.

I posted on the photography board, but I thought you girls could help me too. I also want to start using it for digital scrapbooking, but I'm so used to the look and feel of Picture It that I don't know where to begin with Elements.

    I hate feeling stupid.

Seriously hate switching to Photoshop after being used to a Microsoft program. It just does not seem to use common sense. Anyway, I'm no help right now, just feeling for you.

Most of Elements is like Photoshop CS2 (what I know), so if you have any specific questions I can try and figure it out for you, most of the time it transfers to PSE. It is REALLY hard to switch programs, but PSE/PS is so worth it once you get to know it - I stopped and started 3 times before I finally just told myself I couldn't use Digital Image Suite anymore and forced myself to use it.

Here is a good tutorial on how to do your first page using PSE:

And here are some other tutorials (just look for PSE, and it'll apply to that)

Otherwise, I think a tutorial for a specific thing you're wanting to do (ie shadows, or whatever) would be the most helpful. Let me know if you have any questions!

    Gwen-

I have PSE 6... and I've never used any digital program for scrapbooking before so I had no idea what in the world I was doing. I learned by trial and error, asking questions on here... and I frequently visit Misty Cato's site of tutorials when I want to learn how to do a technique.. most of her tuturials can be used for PSE (She has some really nice snapshops of the screens and goes step by step).

I also have the book "The Photoshop Elements 6 Book for Digital Photography" by Scott Kelby... it has helped me to learn not only how to play around with the pictures, but also navigating PSE.

If you have any questions, you can try to reach me and I'll do my best to help you out. (or you can just drive a few hours and visit for a little while).
