Growing eyes on potatoes -- especially if they get too long. I'm weird, huh!?

But at least I don't have to worry about any of you scrapping about those! LOL

It's not a fear per se, but it's irrational. I seriously see faces in EVERYTHING. Not just the occasional obvious 2 windows make eyes sort of thing. Every car, every tree, every house, even hallways, etc... they all have faces. At many times it's comforting and like my own private little world of friends, but the faces tend to look angrier and more menacing at night and it makes the dark difficult for me.

Oh Yeah, I got your back for sure. Even those little circle windows at the bottom freak me out! It is so bad that if we are watching tv and a ship comes on the screen I jump and cover my eyes. LUCKY for me everyone does not have ships I feel bad for the cat thing cause they could be anywhere. Okay sorry I don't want to scare you anymore.lol

I would cause once I was on it would be okay but I would have to cover my eyes while getting on cause if I was to see it up close I would scream my head off. Man just thinking about it gives me the chills maybe I coulden't do it!

Not sure if its a fear or just more grossed out by it, but I hate FEET!!! My feet, your, feet, doesn't matter I hate them all! I can't stand to touch feet. I close my eyes in the shower while I wash my own feet. I go and have pedicures so that someone else has to touch my feet and not me. I'd rather wear slip on shoes that don't lace so I don't even have to touch my feet. I CAN'T,I CAN'T stand when DH puts his feet on me! Weird I know!

A story: my grandparents raised me and last year my g'ma had open heart surgery. I was taking care of her in the hospital and at home until she got better. She asked me one day to put lotion on her feet in the hospital. How could I say no? I mean this woman changed my diapers. So I sneaked over and put rubber gloves on and tried my best to just get it over with as fast as I could. I was almost done, and my g'ma (who was lying back in the hospital bed and couldn't really see me or my hands) commented on how smooth and silky my hands were! EEEK!

I also don't like to touch/handle spiders, pickles, and lotion!

I have an irrational fear of bees/wasps - and I've never been stung - probably because I run away at the sight of them - literally, run away. I've stopped the car on the side of a busy highway and gotten out and waited for the bee to make its way out of the car before.

I also have a VERY irrational fear of seafood/dead fish. I don't mind seeing it, alive or dead, but cook it and put it on a plate in front of me and I'll run in the other direction. I don't eat ANYTHING that lived in water (not even fish sticks or tuna salad sandwiches). I'll be fine if you put it in front of someone else at the table, but if you want me to eat it I break out into a sweat and will pretty much almost cry. DH has tried to get me to eat fish or seafood and has stopped because I get so upset over it (and the funny thing is I have no idea where this fear came from!).

excellent ladies...I feel so much less weird now.

Yesterday as I was coming back from the pharmacy there was a cat in my garden right near my door. I couldn't get in the house cuz of it and it wasn't budging despite me making loud noises...it just kept looking at me and then carrying on digging in my garden (And I didn't want to throw anything in it's direction because I honestly fear it would turn around and attack me LOL)...Finally after waiting long enough I ran at full force swinging my bag with a bottle of milk of magnesia back in forth and shouting "PI** OFF!" Lol Thankfully it scrambled away. Talk about a memory to scrap.

I have a fear of swimming.

No fear of water itself, so long as I can stand in it. The minute it's over my head, I freak out. Needless to say I don't go in the deep end.

When we were in Mexico a few years ago we decided to go snorkeling and I hadn't really thought about the fact that I wouldn't be able to stand up. I had to have a kickboard to lay on while I was in the water.

That lasted all of five minutes before I had to get back onto the boat. I was just to freaked out.

I'm with you Erin. If I don't have a life jacket on and the water is over my head, I WILL drown. And don't try to teach me to swim, cause it won't work. I am also very afraid of cars and water. WILL not drive over anything bigger than a puddle.

These are all great. Good to see so many weirdos on this board. LOL Totally kidding...trust me, I'm the biggest weirdo out there. Smile

i am afraid to walk on grates...even if the ground under them is only an inch or two away. maybe it is b/c I grew up around DC where there were grates near the Metro stations went down farther than the eye can see. DH makes fun of me and once when we went running he jumped on each one we passed down our whole street and laughed when I jogged around each one.

I have an irrational fear of snakes. UGH! *shivers* I just can't stand them. I don't like pics of them either. Randall took me in the snake room at the zoo and I felt like the walls were closing in on me.

This is a fun thread! Ok here is mine... When I take a shower I will NOT face the shower head with the ater coming down over my face because I feel like I am going to drown; I wash my hair with my back towards the water, not my face.

You want irrational... I was the biggest tomboy. When I'm by myself, I can kill all sorts of bugs, vermin, etc. But since marrying my husband, he's worked on me to give up the gruff and tough shell that I built up. I don't like people seeing me weak or that I'm scared.

Well, it's like he psychologically programmed me, because I now do the girl thing and cringe and hide my eyes and make him go squish bugs. It ONLY happens when he's around and a bug comes out and it's only certain things- mice, spiders, centipedes, daddy long legs. And it's a knee jerk reaction, so I'm not doing it for his ego or anything.

I forgot this one. I HATE snakes too. If I see one on TV, I will put my feet up on the couch for fear that one is going to get my feet!

OH yes another one I just thought about.... when I am in bed falling asleep I absolutely can NOT have my hand hanging over the edge of the bed...or my feet. Or anything. I can't. Not in the dark. I feel like something is going to come up and grab me or something Lol I also can't have my feet on the edge of the bed on the floor for too long either. For the same reason. I also can not stand having the door to the bathroom opened at night because I feel like its a scary place at night, bathrooms. Probably because of the mirror thing Lol

Arent other peoples fears so very interesting!!

I LOVE cats, so you probably shouldnt come to my house Wink Did you see that one show with Michael Jackson's sister that was freaked out of cats?! I just about died laughing on the floor. My friend and I used to pretend that we were afraid of cats cause Ive never really heard of people being afraid of them. Its mean in retrospect of us to do that, but man it was funny.

I think that people are either really really afraid of spiders or snakes; one or the other but not both. I hate spiders, would never hold one and if one is by me and I have to squish it I feel like they're on me. But snakes I really dont mind. My mom hates them and makes her feel like she'll throw up. We have lots of snakes in our backyard in the summer time and me and DS play with them. The cats usually bring one home every day in the summer, they jump over the fence with one hanging out of their mouths. Now isnt that a picture for you! A cat AND a snake Lol

I dont like mirrors at night or in the dark either. But since I HAVE to pee in the middle of the night almost every night I just dont look at it Wink

I dont like water in my face either, and take a shower facing away from it also. If I swim I doggie paddle and am usually made fun of Wink When I was little I jumped in the deep end and no one tried to save me OR told my mom, she had to figure it out and jumped in, but that was after I was all the way under for a bit. So I dont like water on my face. OR in my eyes, it hurts dang it and I dont care who says it doesnt Lol

Here is my totally irrational fear...I have a fear of throwing up and will go to great lengths to avoid it. I believe that one of the triggers is Onions so I dont eat them or eat things made with them, unless they are concealed enough that I cant taste them. Another trigger is over eating, as soon as I can feel my tummy getting full I stop eating, which leads to me eating all day cause Im never really full. I can eat sweets all day and they dont make me sick, but anything oily, savory (onion, garlic, herby) or meaty makes me sick. So what usually happens is that I get a feeling like Im nauseous and it triggers a panic attack. SOOO I take medicine for it Biggrin seems to keep it at bay. Most of the time anyhow. Though when I was pregnant with DS and the last time I have a heck of a time with morning sickness and have to continue taking Paxil for it (though its not recommended) AND/OR anti-nausea pills. Sheesh! Talk about High matinence!

Karen anytime you need cat protection I'll come to your rescue! Wink

I do the same thing, I never thought of it as a fear though, just easier (but sticking your face full in the water like that does not sound like my idea of a good time either!)

This reminded me - it's not a fear, but I can't have my feet covered to fall asleep. Once I'm asleep, it's ok, but to get asleep I have to have the covers from my chin to my ankles and not on my feet. It drives DH crazy because the first thing I do in hotel rooms is unmake the end of the bed so I can stick my feet out.

I don't have to have my feet sticking out, in fact they have to be warm and cozy but I cannot fall asleep with my feet on the bed. Generally I sleep so far down that my feet hang over the bed, but still within the covers.

oh I have a fear of throwing up too. I almost never throw up. I will go to great lengths to keep from doing so, even when I'm soooo sick. It makes me cry every time I do.

Another one I thought of is dirty floors. It's silly, but I fear dirty floors and the germs on them. It's not so bad at other people's houses, but my house it actually makes me sick to go to bed knowing I may have to walk bare-footed to pee in the middle of the night on a dirty floor. So basically every single night I'm sweeping and/or mopping.

Erin, it's really not other people's houses. It's just mine. Don't think that mine is spotless....it's really filthy. Amazing how much I can sweep and it still collects pounds of crap!!! You'd laugh after I said that if you came and saw my floors right now.

Ok, my fear is going to sound really ODD! It all came from a dream I had, this dream has haunted me for years! And I mean when I was younger than 10. In the dream, I was kneeling on the floor in front of a sliding screen door where the bottom half has the screen protector (the old metal link ones), I was looking out through the screen protector and everything outside was getting closer and bigger..........and that's it!!!! Now when I go to bed, when I close my eyes, sometimes everything in my vision (right before I closed my eyes) will get closer and bigger and I have to immediately open my eyes and rid the image from my mind. Something about that dream has totally freaked me, even though, I can't figure out what the hell it means, it still haunts me! Also from the same dream, I can't have ankles rub together. There is a feeling that will fill my body and almost makes me sick to my stomach. I haven't felt the feeling from the ankle bit in a long time (hmm, wonder why!), but I still occassionaly get the image one. I don't think it will ever go away....

So who can beat that?! LOL

wow...I feel a whole lot closer to you ladies after hearing all these! :bigarmhug: I have many of the same (can't face the shower and would leap outta bed if I awoke to any part of me hanging off the edge lol)....Charys you may have already tried this but since you sleep barefoot would it help if you had a pair of slippers right next to your bed so you could just step into them when you wake up to pee? just a thought.

Until I married my husband, I absolutely had to sleep covered. It could be a bazillion degrees out, but I had to have a sheet on. I think it comes from the neighborhood I grew up in. The sheet hides me from the bad men and they can't find me if they break in. LOL Middle of the night, I'll stick my legs out to cool off (but of course NEVER off the side, unless it's like a sleep cot, or the mattress is touching the ground), but absolutely not while sleeping.

I've noticed that since marrying hubby, I don't have to ALWAYS be covered foot to neck. I can have a sheet up to my waist and be fine. So he must be my big, bad protector. Also, I avoid sleeping with socks on at ALL costs. I think it's why I have trouble napping in cars and such.

I'm like that. If the living room floor is mostly picked up, I feel like the house is clean. But if there are toys strewn everywhere, I feel like the house is a sty.

My dad was the same way with the dishes. You could clean the whole house, but have left half a load of dishes and he wouldn't think the house was clean.

I dont like floor crap sticking to my feet BLECK!! But instead of sweeping/moping I just stick socks on Blum 3 We put our own tile floors in the kitchen and bathrooms to try and make it easier to clean, but since its been much dirtier Sad The grout is absolutely the hardest thing to clean!

I have to have all the blankies untucked too. I dont like them all snug around me, but I like to have them cover me all up, to my chin tucked under with my hands, and with my feet under a fold of the blankies so they're in a blankie sandwich Wink But I HATE sheets! I wont use a top sheet, only a bottom sheet. And I like the soft fleecy blankies the best. I dont make my bed either, I think its dumb to make it when Im going to just get in it again in a few hours Wink

well i guess we aren't really talking about fears anymore Blum 3 but i'm one who has to make the bed when i go to bed Lol yeah...crazy... i can't sleep with socks on. And if I ever do I wake up and they are no longer on my feet Wink I can only fall asleep when I am laying on my belly. It was really hard to fall asleep when I was pregnant both times.

OH yes here is a fear of mine. I hate it when people throw balls or anything at me. I just have the fear that it is going to hit my face or something. I think I got this fear from when I was a kid and someone threw a basket ball or some other ball the same size at me and it hit my nose pretty bad and broke my glasses. That sucked.

Oh it sucks so bad when you get hit in the face with a BB when you wear glasses! Its like a double whammy! Ive had bruises and cuts on my face from getting hit with a ball, not from the ball itself but from my glasses! Usually its a nose piece that will do the damage Sad I feel ya on that one!
