Feed Me (OT)

I decided that I want to start a blog to share my photography, sewing, scrapbooking and perhaps even commentary (although I'm not sure I have the time to write much). But it would be nice to have a place to showcase what I do. I share here, and I love that. I'd like a place to share with others too though. Does that make sense?

I know some of you have blogs, I suck at checking out other blogs. But if I have my own blog, then maybe I'll be more likely to be active in following blogs of friends. (I actually have an old family blog, but haven't updated it in well over a year, closer to two).

Here's the point of my thread ... I need a good name for my blog, something that perhaps I can carry over to my photography in case I go that route for business someday. So I think that whatever I call my blog I'll probably start watermarking my photographs with. I'm not feeling creative today, and know that I don't need to do this right this second. But I thought maybe you girls, being the creative whizzes that you are, could feed me some ideas.

My favorite band is U2, and one of my favorite songs by them is City of Blinding Lights. But "Blinding Lights Photography" probably wouldn't go over very well (photography won't be in the name of my blog). I looked at the lyrics for inspiration but nothing jumped out.

Anyhow, toss ideas this way please. Smile Love you girls!

I'm glad you've decided to start a blog...you have so many creative avenues, it'll be a great one.
I'll think on name ideas tonight, but I'm sure I won't come up with anything creative since I stink at names/titles.

Ugh..I'm in blog hell..lol
I just created a blog a couple days ago and it looks horrible!(and on top of that, you know how much I hate to write!) no pictures uploaded or anything:rolleyes:...I really need to play with it.

Anyway I think for now, where you want to showcase all types of your work, I would stick to something simple..IDK maybe...Gwen's Creations or something like that. I googled the lyrics to you favorite song and I couldn't pull anything from it either.

There are so many creative talented ppl on this board, I'm sure someone will come up with something fantastic..:D

thanks girls. I'm still stuck on "Blinding Lights" ... there is a photograph in the UK using Blinding Light Photography (no s) ... and from her site, her photos are lame, she shouldn't be in business (sorry, I'm really critical these days - if you're taking money, you need to be good, right? she's not so good). Anyhow, DH didn't think it was a great name.

But look at the photos I took today ... Wink I've been wanting to get good sun burst pictures, and I think these came out nice.

the sun and sky

the sun and sky

the sun and sky

the sun and sky

and since I'm showing off, here are two I took a couple of days ago. the boy is Andrew's BFF.

carson eyes swing

(I haven't done any color correction to this one, all of the others have been tweaked a tiny bit)

Those pictures are gorgeous! I am no good at coming up with names for anything, but I'm sure you will find the perfect name.

How about "The More You See"? I read the lyrics from the song City of Blinding Lights and those words from the first line really stuck out to me!!

just seeing the last two posts here. Wink we were gone for four days and I'm playing catch up in so many ways!

Jess - I like that idea, I might play with that. I'm worried about too many words in a name, yet that might work.

Ashley - oh, I like that too! Funny, I thought about using the words chaos and create together.

I've been pouring over U2 lyrics (and I'm so tired that my eyes are blurry!) I like "maze of her imagination" from Beautiful Day (one of my favorite songs - we played it all of the time when Andrew was a baby, he'd stop crying when he heard it. The older two call it "Andrew's song" when they hear it since they know the story).

I keep going back to Blinding Lights though. Just love that song. But the lyrics really don't lend meaning to what I do. I just don't know.

I'm making this harder than it needs to be. I just want to be happy with the name, I don't want to change it.

That's hard! I like the Beautiful day suggestion - I googled the lyrics too and didn't see anything ... I named my blog awhile ago and wish I had put some more thought into it. Not that anyone reads it, but it bugs me lol.

I saw on the photography board that you were thinking about a blog and stuck on a name. I've been thinking about it, but didn't really come up with any ideas. I then saw this post and how you're really moved by the U2 song Blinding Lights. So I took a look at the lyrics and the only thing that I could come up with was Purple Iris from the line "Flash bulbs, purple irises the camera can't see". I took a look at the meaning behind a purple iris and came up with this,

An iris flower has been popular in the world since the ancient period. People have loved and honored iris flowers for their exquisite beauty and meaningful nature (your work is wonderful and I know you put a lot of time and thought into everything you do). An iris flower comes in many different colors, each expressing a different symbolical meaning. Of the many colorful varieties of irises, a purple iris flower is famous (maybe you will be too someday soon).

For its wide popularity an iris flower is crowned as the state flower of Tennessee (you've been to TN, right?). The word iris comes from a Greek word which means rainbow representing a variety of colors (your work is full of color). On the other hand, the word purple has association with royalty and ceremony (you are Queen of the house). Purple represents pride, dignity and success (Is this not the feeling you get from your work?). Thus, a purple iris flower makes a stunning appearance both in look and meaning (Your work is both stunning in appearance and meaning).

Purple iris flower is the emblem of France and is known as Fleur-de-lis. These purple irises are always associated with twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. A purple iris flower symbolizes wisdom and knowledge (Once again this is you). They are praised all over the world for their rich meaning. One can even try giving a bunch of purple iris flowers in order to compliment someone (what better way to compliment someone than to give them a gift made from the heart be it a photo, a scrapbook layout or a diaper to poop in ;)). Whole-hearted compliments can be expressed without words by giving purple iris flowers. Such is the vastness of iris flowers.

Purple flowers have an individual strong color of their own with which it rules the vicinity. But other than this, purple irises also help to make a proper background for flowers of any other color. A bunch of purple iris looks bold and attractive; your guests cannot help themselves from looking at the vase full of purple iris flowers (People love to look at your work, it's both beautiful and inspiring).

I think a purple iris can be related to your work in many ways, especially with your photography! My comments added in parentheses.

isn't Ann the greatest? Smile I think so!

anyhow, just registered at wordpress, but am thinking flashbulbspurpleirises.wordpress.com might be too long. I like having them both together though, the flash bulbs and purple irises.

oh, the dilemma!!! I need more coffee before I commit to the name.
