I have to make favors for a ladies Christmas party, and the paper birdhouse that Charys showed us awhile ago looked so easy and fun. So I rounded up all my spare papers, printed 65 of them in various Christmasy type colors (greens, reds, a few pink, brown and cream). I got them all cut out.
And they've sat since then. My paper punch makes too big a hole imo. I can't decide on what paper to use for roofs or floors. I can't find a stamp to stamp them with or an embellishment to make it Christmasy. I'm so desperate to make them seem classy and effortless and everything I've thought about just doesn't seem to look right. (No I don't have those... I gave them to my kids and they "played" (ie destroyed) them.) I know, counterintuitive to want something to look effortless and then be so stressed about it... but there I am. LOL
I'm just stuck. And I don't want to scrap the idea (ha!) because I have the house part printed and cut already. I'm also trying to spend as little money as possible on these so I can't just go buy matching papers, white ink, new stamps, etc
I can't make mine look like the original (especially since mine are various colors I wanted to get rid of) and I can't seem to get past the original. I don't know what to do.
Here's the original.
Thanks for listening to the whine. I just need to whine about it for a bit. I should just sit down and figure it out... but it's hard to do that when you have no clue what to do to make it look good.
Sorry your feeling slugish! I think it's hard to do something where you go into it with a picture of what is "right." I hope your able to make use of your materials and get the together.
LOL, I cheated and made mine way easier than awesome Nichole Heady!!! I didn't use any stamps, just broke a toothpick into thirds and stuck it below the hole I created and hand cut some Christmas holly. Do you have a circle cutter? I used the smallest hole on my circle cutter system. Otherwise, could you use a different type of punch? Do you have a square? A square doorway might be kindof cute. You'd have to play around, but I bet you could do some amazing things in no time. I am going to get some silk holly leaves at Walmart or a craft store and pinch off tiny "branches" for the front. Then just hot glue them on, to save time because I'm going to make each family member one too. Or use my Christmas Cheer cart for the holly. It just depends.

Hubby had me just punch all the holes, so I could get over the size. They'd be done so I'd just have to work with it. He does have a very good point on that. So, one step closer. Set up a date to crop with some friends so November 15 will be the D-Day to get these done. 2 steps in the right direction.
Great to hear! That will be fun to have a crop with your friends too.

I hope you're able to get them finished at your crop. I'm sure they'll turn out great! Remember we're our worst critics!
GL girl! I agree with Ashley. Sometimes we totally overthink stuff. Relax and enjoy remember???
