since I am just getting into paper scrapbooking I have a few questions. first of all where can I find layout ideas? sometimes i feel like i am doing the same thing over and over again. I'm sure with time i will get better. also, I have cardstock, and patterned paper. But I am confused as what to use a the base? Does it matter? Should I use the thicker cardstock as the base and then put patterned paper on it? Or can I use the patterned paper and put a few pieces of cardstock on it then my photos? I don't know which way to go. lol Or..which is the right thing to do. I know the cardstock is alot thicker than the pattern paper though. hmm
thanks for your help
I generally look here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/
or here http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/com...oom/Itemid,28/
to get card inspiration. But I know both places have scrapbook layouts too.
Honestly, I've done both- used patterned paper as the base and used cardstock. Cardstock is sturdier, but if a layout gets too flimsy, you could always reinforce it with another sheet of cardstock if you absolutely had to.
To me, with card making and with scrapbooking, there is no right or wrong way. To say there is would be to take away from a really creative idea that someone might have. So be bold and creative what YOU like. That said, if you are looking for a "standard" answer... I think many scrapbookers use solid cardstock for a base because it's sturdy, cheaper, and you can use bits of colored patterned paper and cardstock to brighten it up, without using a whole sheet of the genereally more expensive patterned paper.
ok thanks! yeah i noticed most use cardstock as the base and then use pattern paper. I have LOADS of pattern paper see. I bough a huge batch of it at Michaels when I was in the states and a huge thing of cardstock too. I think I'll be running out of cardstock first then the paper though i just hope they sell cardstock at the hobby store here. in batches instead of just 1 piece at a time. that gets expensive especially here
I just saw your page and from the looks of it you know what your doing girl! Wow! Great job, I sometimes use hidden journaling but never would have thought to put it on a flower!
I always use my light paper on top and since you have more of that you could use like 2 or 3 different patterns on top of one sheet of cs. I also look at creating keepsakes or mags. Looks like your off to a good start!
ahh magazines lol ok hehe i didnt understand what you were talking about hehe
You've gotten great advice so far. I'd like to add I get a lot of my ideas right here. I have a folder that I save a lot of peeps work too and I look at that for ideas for my pages. As far as I know everyone on here is fine with doing that and I always say who I might have "scraplifted" from if and when I do. HTH
