Friday QOTD

Does anyone have any future vacation plans ? Anything you're taking soon, or saving for in the long run?

We're saving our money at the moment to go to England in July for Wayne's niece's wedding and to see all his family. We'd LOVE to go back to Dominican at the same time ...If we had one more daycare kid come March then we'd be able Lol

My brother's wedding in Fresno in June. Three plane tickets isn't fun! So we've been trying to put aside a little each month to pay for them.

We're going to do a stay-cation this year. DH will take a week off from work and we'll do things locally. Saving up for a bigger vacation when Jack is older (which is why I consign so much - I have $1600 saved so far, but with a family of 6, we need a LOT more)

We got lucky and recently got really good airplane tickets for all 5 of us, it's very expensive with 5! And one is still a lap child. Anyway, we're going to Cocoa Beach exactly two weeks from today!! We are so excited!! My parents are coming with us, so it will be really nice to visit with them again and to be in Florida.

Ours are young so we aren't planning anything fancy like Disney or Universal...just hanging on the beach, maybe Kennedy Space Center.

we are going to the beach with my parents and sister again this summer. the only reason we can afford it is that they pay for renting the beach house (they would get it anyway just for them and my sister) and let us come stay with them. we chip in by buying groceries and/or dinner out.

We want to go to Kelowna, BC this summer - it's about an 8-10 hr drive. We went there on our honeymoon and loved it, and really want to take Kaitlyn. That's about all we can afford at the moment.

Yes, we plan to take Andrea to Disney World when she turns 4 (fall, 2010). We had all the money saved up then spent it in 2008 on closing costs on a house and other large expenses. DH is working a second job right now to build back up our savings.

We've never been a vacation family. I think it's b/c we are still young trying to get on our feet. I was able to take a vacation with my sister, nephew, and Ruthie last summer to WA, and we had a ball. The main reason we went was to see our aunt. Well, now she's local, so there's no need. Of course we would love to hit FL or somewhere with a nice beach. One day......

I'll be having a newborn soon, so vacation is definitely out of the question for me.

ALTHOUGH, we are hoping and praying HARD that Randall gets to go to Honduras with the church. They are doing a mission trip and he really wants to go. It's in June/July, so hopefully his bonus will cover it. I am just worried b/c it's just a few weeks after Randy will be here, and we are going to be short on funds. Those of you who pray, please be praying hard that he can go and we get the funds. Biggrin

The ILs are trying to convince me to go to the beach come July but I'm not really keen on the idea of taking an infant to the beach. We'll see.
DH and I are currently holding our breaths to see if he qualifies for a trip to Aruba. He has until September and so far he's in. The trip would be in January and I would definitely need spending money.

Nothing anytime soon. We'll probably do a local camping trip in the fall.

Our long time goal is to go to Thailand to see our exchange student and a new Thai friend (currently in the US). It's around 1500/person for a flight and Karl will be over the 2 year mark soon.

We are going to Disney World in April for my birthday. We go ever year, but I told DH that I want to go on my bday this year since you get in free on your actual bday.

I'm not sure yet. We have money put back and saved but adoption cost a lot!!! Last spring we went to Atlanta for an extended weekend and bought the city pass and had a blast. We may try something like that but probably not nothing to big!

Gwen- alot of cities have city passes. We may do a stay-cation this year in Nashville b/c they offer a package. It gives you about 10 places and then you choose 5-6 that you want to do. They are fairly cheap and since you don't need a hotel, its really ideal!

Sounds like you all have great trips planned!

I've told this to some, but hubby and I are taking a work vacation this year. The kids will go to grandma's for 9 days. Hubby and I will then spend 2 nights in the Twin Cities area to celebrate our anniversary belatedly. We'll go to the theater.

Then we come home and work a couple of days. Then comes my favorite part... hubby has this big district convention to go to (in state). I was the delegate last time, so they found someone else to be the delegate this time. So I'm tagging along with hubby (because his birthday is during this time) and I'm going to spend all day in the hotel, watching HDTV, making cards and ordering in food, while he's at meetings. SO EXCITED FOR IT! The church might even cover our hotel costs since it's a work trip and district recommends that they cover costs.

In July, we go to St. Louis for a week for my cousin's wedding. So far 4 out of the 5 of us are in the wedding somehow.

I've got most of the money for the hubby and me trip saved and the fund will continue starting the St. Louis funds. With hubby never getting any off days and our unique schedules, (and because the kids love grandma and grandpa so much and g and g are young enough to handle them), we really try hard to take a "just us" vacation of sorts every couple of years in addition to family time away. Our "us" time tends to be away from crowds as much as possible.

Michelle, lounging around all day would be great for me. I don't like busy vacations. I love to go places where I can take my time and not have a schedule to follow. I can't wait to see all the cards you'll get done!

Only in my dreams. . . at least for the short term. But the ILs have 2 boats so in the summer we like to take a week off and borrow one of them, its wonderful and relatively inexpensive. Not sure if that will happen with a newborn this year but we'll see.

we have nothing planned for sure but might go visit friends who just moved to Texas (If we do I am finding you Charys and we are scrapbooking together) or Florida where dh's grandma lives. Might not happen but sure would be nice if it did. I miss warm weather!
